After a long day of driving on our way from Maine to Florida, we stopped at the Country Inn in Florence, SC. We normally stay at Marriotts and all 6 of them were sold out. We got the last room at The Country Inn. After reading the reviews, we were a bit skeptical but we were tired and had no other options. We were very pleasantly surprised with our stay. Most important, the room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. The lobby is very nice. The bathtub is dated, it’s one of the fiberglass one piece with the ceiling incorporated in it so you know it had to be original to the hotel. It was spotless. I was amazed. The coffee in the lobby was much better quality than most hotels. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The outside grounds are immaculate. They were blowing the leaves and cleaning the already spotless outside when we checked out. Overall I would give them a solid A.
Residence Inn Florence

We are long time Marriott elite customers and have traveled extensively, but it's not often that we can say we felt like honored guests at a property. The Florence, SC Residence Inn was excellent! It was our overnight stop on our way north on I95 from Florida to Maryland, and what a nice experience, from check in to check out. The typical Residence Inn breakfast was made very special by staff member Sharon, who greeted EVERYONE and welcomed them as if they were family! She made sure that everyone had what they needed. When I asked if there was any green tea, she immediately went and got some food me. A family came in with young children and she spoke to all the kids, asked their names, how old they were, and if their breakfast favorites were there! When we checked out, I wanted to fill my water bottle so I asked where the ice machine was, and the front desk mgr handed me several water bottles that were already chilled. But more important than WHAT they did was the fact that it was done with a truely genuine smile on their faces! Marriott, many of your other properties could benefit from a few customer service lessons from the staff here! This will definitely be our go to hotel on our many trips back and forth from FL to MD to visit our children and grandchildren.
Hampton Inn & Suites Florence-North-I-95

The I95 Hampton was clean, checkin/out is a breeze, the pool and hot tub were well maintained and provided some leisure time with the kiddos. The location is close to shopping and dining and lastly the staff were genuinely nice. Great customer service, felt like home.
Hilton Garden Inn Florence

The room was fine and location good. We were disappointed that we are Hilton Honor members. We thought breakfast included 2 but we were told both our names not on the reservation so we had to pay $14.99 for the 2nd buffet breakfast. We specifically asked at check in the day before and the desk clerk said he couldn’t tell us what we signed up for and the breakfast area would have the info the next morning. When we found out they expected payment for the 2nd breakfast my husband went to the desk clerk and she could do nothing. They had 2 chances to correct the problem- add my name and no one made the effort. Very disappointed in the staff at this hotel. Are all Hilton Gardens like this? We usually stay at Hampton Inns and there was one next door. We made a mistake going to this hotel. We didn’t really care about the $14 but surprised they kept the breakfast specific info from us and no one made an effort to correct. A small but significant lack of customer service by Hilton. Was getting that $14 so important to them? And it was only for the buffet we were not allowed to order omelets ! Lol - won’t stay here again!

Older hotel, but great prices (especially for room with two queen beds) fairly clean and updated rooms. Breakfast is simple, but ok. No eggs waffles sausage or bacon. Friendly front desk. Drive up to your rooms. Curtains in bedroom do not reach the floor, and unfortunately well lit parking lots mean it never gets fully dark in bedroom. Overall well worth it if you’re looking for a bargain price hotel without lots of frills.
