Clifton Arms Hotel

We had our Wedding at the Clifton Arms Hotel recently and we could not have received better Service and Support from Kath, Emma , Molly and the rest of the Clifton Arms Team . They were great to work with and provided a perfect day we will remember for the rest of our lives . Beautiful Hotel and Venue. Thank you

We have just finished our last meal at the Clifton Arms Hotel. The food and service is exceptional made even better by the friendly staff. The meals are so nice and the choice is very good. We had a side sea view and luckily the weather was very nice as well. The rooms are spotlessly clean and yet again the cleaning staff are lovely people.We have stopped in lots of hotels in the St Anne’s area but this hotel tops the lot and we will be back. A big thanks to Jill on reception yet again very friendly and helpful. We will recommend the CAH to all our friends. Thank you so much for wonderful 3 nights John and Lynette.

We had the most fantastic stay at the Clifton Arms hotel.The room was lovely and the food was exquisite at dinner and breakfast.We found the staff to be helpful and polite and can't wait for a return visit. We had a discrepancy with our bill which was sorted quickly and in a professional manner. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

We enjoyed the three night summer break that the hotel offered. Our room had lovely views and was nice and spacious. The staff were extremely helpful and really made an effort with us and we could see that this was the case for the other guests as well which was nice to see. The food was excellent at breakfast and dinner and very consistent with plenty of choice. The weather was also good for most of our stay so we got to take advantage of the lovely terrace they have and even had the BBQ offering one night which was a real bonus and the live singer was great. We look forward to returning soon!

The Clifton Arms is a good-looking hotel and has a feel-good atmosphere. The decor and furnishings are lovely. The restaurant food just lets it down every time. Book in for a meal as a non-resident, and you will be very disappointed at the quality of your meal. For this you will of paid big money. We had 7 adults and 2 children for Sunday lunch. None of us enjoyed our meals. Only one had a glass of wine , everyone else a soft drink. No desert or coffee. £351. Please look for a good chef and employ her/him.

We decided to treat ourselves to an overnight stay at the Clifton Arms having called in for lunch and coffee here on many occasions and been very impressed. We booked dinner, bed and breakfast staying in a Directors Double Room. The room was very clean, spacious and nicely furnished with a fabulous view over the green and the estuary. Unfortunately, our experience at dinner was disappointing. Because we were resident in the hotel and had pre-booked an evening meal, we expected to have a table reserved for us. This was not the case. We were informed that the restaurant is first come, first served. So had we walked in without a reservation, we would have had one of the better tables. We left feeling underwhelmed by the whole experience. The foyer of the hotel is a lovely place to sit and have a drink. Everyone is very helpful and friendly, but there was a lot of confusion over table numbers during our stay. There are no numbers on the tables, so several guests were having the wrong drinks taken over to them. Breakfast was a bit disorganised and service a bit hit and miss. We observed one guest who was left for quite a significant amount of time without his order being taken. This was despite many members of staff walking past him on several occasions. We would not discount staying at the Clifton again, but if we do, it would probably be on a room only basis.

We booked here to attended a function on the Saturday night, but wanted to make a weekend of it. Booked online several months prior and it cost £330 for 2 nights stay for me & my husband. Our room was directly above the function room and Friday's event went on until half passed midnight. I went to reception who explained they were fully booked and confirmed that our room would be "worst hit!" After I insisted to be moved, an alternative room was found. Smaller and more dated. The shower didn't work properly and the window blind broken, both reported and no action taken. I wouldn't say this was a 4*, and I dread to think how expensive an upgraded room would be. By all means, Market your hotel for functions, but price accordingly and be upfront about it, maybe even offer discounts and give people a choice! I'm writing this review as the communication from the hotel is poor, unless you want spamming with emails despite opting out! Would definitely stay elsewhere with better views, nicer experience and spend less money!

We are here now at the Clifton Arms Hotel, we have been coming here regularly for years but unfortunately things have slipped. We always book a sea view which is normally a large room with a large bay window, not this time, a small sea view room with a very small and badly designed bathroom! No soap like as before, so how do you get to the soap from the dispenser high up on the wall when in the bath?? You can’t get to the bath taps to turn them on because the glass shower partition blocks you, so have to literally stand in the bath to turn them on. Also trying to get in and out of the bath is a challenge (if you are disabled it’s a no go!) Attitude on booking in with Jill on reception and where have all the regular nice staff gone?? All new staff trying their best but I’m sorry over lunch not up to standard took my partners order for lunch and said is that it without looking at me!! Been down to reception to complain about the room to be told there’s nothing we can do!!! This will sadly be our last visit and will be going to the Grand Hotel in future Martyn

Fabulous wedding venue with amazing food and service Would highly recommend for weddings. Elegant reception rooms and the ambiance of the public bar and terrace was great. We booked a chairman’s room which was beautiful. A fridge was the only thing we would have expected at this standard and price Sadly our morning breakfast experience was not what we expect for this class of hotel It was slow and haphazard. Tea and toast (just half a slice per person) arrived promptly but was cold by the time our cooked breakfasts came. We asked three times for fresh toast and coffee - 3 different staff all promised to bring it straight away, yet we observed one move to clearing tables and never checked back with us . It arrived eventually as we finished our food by two different staff Food was well cooked and fresh, but only one sausage and one small piece of bacon on a full English. On the eggs Benedict, one egg was perfect yet the second was totally hard and overdone It’s such a shame to see this hotel let down by breakfast - probably one for the team to review as it seemed more due to lack of organisation, experience, and ownership to us Nevertheless a lovely stay and we would return
