Hotel is guilty of blatant deviousness . I pre paid the room, when I arrived at the hotel it was closed , locked, you could see chairs upside down on the tables, and no one around. After 20 minutes of knocking on the window I left ; no refund given; they are totally dishonest

This hotel is guilty of blatant theft. I made a fully paid reservation, and when I arrived at the hotel it was closed , locked, you could see chairs upside down on the tables, and no person around. After 20 minutes of knocking on the window I went elsewhere; and asked for a refund. It seems that there was a lockbox by the staff entrance? the hotel never sent an email explaining how to enter, or a code for the doors, and when prompted to show me a copy, ******* was silent and simply stated that the owner refused to refund the money. These people did NOT provide the servic for which they were paid for no fault of mine, and the inconvenience caused after a long day on the road not compensated. I should have gone to the police but as a foreign visitor I decided erroneously, not to.These people are thieves!

We had booked The York Cove Hotel due to its close proximity to The Low Head Penguin Tour. The hotel appears to be 3 rooms below the Crazy Duck restaurant above. The room and bathroom were both massive, had a great king size bed, very quick WiFi and was quiet. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We had dinner at the restaurant which was very good. Would definitely recommend the York Cove Hotel.

We were met by really helpful and friendly staff who throughout our stay could not be faulted both in the hotel and the restaurant. The apartment was spacious with a huge bathroom. There were great views from the balcony over the river. Sadly though there were a few small things that need to be addressed by cleaning staff but I will contact management directly. Positively they are all things that can be easily rectified. The pool which we were looking forward to using was closed for the season which we didn’t know when we booked which was disappointing. After enjoying the restaurant Sunday we were told it was closed on Mondays, unfortunately. The restaurant was fabulous and accommodating of dietary requirements my wife had. I had the duck which was absolutely delicious. Service was great and views were brilliant. Room service was excellent too. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and felt at home. The staff were fantastic and apartment was lovely aside from the tiny maintenance issues and we would certainly stay again.

York Cove is an unusual complex. We stayed in one of the deluxe hotel rooms and instead of a view of anything (at all) you look into a pool area set below the ground line. The apartment itself was gigantic, great bed, beautiful bathroom, it was just weird we could see nothing with such a great view just a couple of metres above us. Anywhere else, and with a view of anything at all, I'd say the room would be reasonably priced but not here, it's expensive. Restaurant was excellent. Had a terrific meal and of course had the duck. Really lovely staff. Beautiful looking out to the Tamar as the sun set.

We stayed here for two nights midweek, and may have been the only guests. The apartment was spacious, clean and comfortable. The internal maintenance is good and probably done regularly. The staff were pleasant and helpful. The exterior certainly detracted from our stay. We sat on our balcony and noticed that the shade cloth was not properly secured and probably needs to be replaced. The pool’s condition was unacceptable and was green with algae and slime. The gardens around the pool were unkempt. The area around the pool and spa is not being maintained. This may not have been a problem if we didn’t have to access our room by walking through the pool area. It has a great location with pleasant views. Attention to detail would certainly lift the rating.
