The architecture and rooms have a distinct Nyonya style, somewhat reminiscent of boutique hotels like Huajian Tang in China. However, the air conditioning was a bit difficult to control, and there's a noticeable old wooden smell, which could be quite off-putting for those sensitive to such things. Steer clear of the north-facing rooms on the second floor; they are located very close to a mosque. The call to prayer, four times a day, is incredibly loud. The 5 AM prayer was particularly disruptive, sounding as if it was right next to my ear. Additionally, there's a rather foul-smelling drainage ditch right at the courtyard entrance, but this seems to be more of a general old town infrastructure problem rather than the property itself. Despite these drawbacks, the place is incredibly photogenic and makes for some beautiful pictures. If you're not bothered by the aforementioned issues, it's otherwise a very charming stay, perfect for capturing great photos 🤳🏻.

Its a bit old and rundown but still a good experience. Staff are very friendly.

I must say that this mansion is not the best option; it is significantly more expensive than five-star hotels, offers subpar service, and has unsatisfactory facilities and cleanliness.

Do NOT book this hotel! Gentleman at the front desk was extremely rude. Very bad experience staying there cuz he quoted quite clearly that, I as a tourist should have change of money, and I should have known this is a 3 star hotel therefore I shouldn’t be expecting anything nice from him, and I’m more than welcome to report him which I did. I hope he never works in hotel or any tourist service at all for rest of his life. No sense of any respect, full of himself.

Everything here was just perfect! We were so lucky to be upgraded to villa room: cozy stylish decor and all we needed was there; kettle, hairdryer, coffee tea water, fresh towels and bed made daily, our own private smoking area just outside our door. Staff were the best , always smiling and helpful. and location was close to everything significant in town. Just amazing! We did not tested the pool as it seemed a little small but we were out in town all the time anyway and never needed to.

Overall, a decent small boutique hotel in a very central location. Beautifully restored mansion. Although there is no onsite parking, we did not have much problem parking our car along the street. The only setback is that there is no coffee and kettle in the room.

This is a very quaint and memorable hotel with a really pretty, old-fashioned room. However, the stairs to the loft inside the room do not have any handles on one side. The biggest problem is a very stinky street gutter right by the entrance of the hotel; in fact, the streets of old town George Town are all a bit smelly. The weather is unbearably hot and humid in early May.

The old house was renovated. The air conditioner and refrigerator were very loud. The bathroom door also made a sound when it was opened and closed. It was not easy to fall asleep! Not recommended for light sleepers. The night shift service is average at night. You have to carry your luggage to the second floor. If you have a lot of luggage, it is recommended to book a room on the first floor.

The room is very retro and suitable for 2-3 people. There are free hot and cold water dispensers, old Penang coffee and popsicles in the living room. You can take photos and check in! There is also a small swimming pool. It can meet the needs.

Unfortunately, there was a misunderstanding between the staff, which is why we had to change rooms again after the first night. There was no way to cancel room service, towels were changed every time, even if they were hung up. This could be improved from an environmental perspective. Otherwise, absolutely fine, rooms are very spacious.
