For the final stop on a multi-state vacation, my wife and I decided to try a Bed & Breakfast, rather than a boring hotel. We were not disappointed. We spent two nights in this historic house and enjoyed it very much. Although the room we reserved was a little smaller than we anticipated, it was comfortable, and The owner was welcoming and seemed eager to make sure our stay was a pleasant one. It was. While we loved seeing the chickens that roamed free in the beautifully landscaped yard, we have to admit that the resident dog made us a little nervous. She was not aggressive or anything, but she did bark loudly and growl at odd times. Although the shower stall was a bit smaller than I would have liked, it definitely got the job done. The bed was nice and firm. The arm chair was a bit uncomfortable for long-term occupancy, but the overall ambience was warm. However, if we had it to do over, we would probably select one of the larger rooms, as they appeared to be more spacious and comfortable. The breakfast was excellent: some type of egg casserole, Belgian waffles, coffee, OJ, and a fruit-and-yogurt dish. At least, I think it was yogurt. Whatever it was, it was delicious. One of the things we’ve learned about B&Bs is that they are a wonderful way to meet and converse with interesting people, often from interesting places. This one did not disappoint there either. We might never stay in a hotel again.
