I love the view so much!! It was actually my first and self-guided journey to Australia. The front desk attendant ,Tammy, was so kind to me. She not only introduced the notice about hotel slowly to me (my listening isn’t very well haha), but recommended me the place that I could visit. What a lovely trip in Cold Coast.

The 3 bedroom apartment with water views that we stayed in was beautifully set out with balconies from each bedroom and from the lounge room. We had a great view and woke each morning to see the waves and beach. Unfortunately: There was NO soundproofing in the rooms and there was definitely NO double glazing. We were on the 13th Floor and we could hear what people were saying from the pool which was on the 4th Floor (yes we had all our doors closed.) On Saturday night the music was so loud that we thought we were part of the parties down below as we could hear people celebrating and could hear what was being said from 13 floors above. The rubbish bins are collected at 5.30 a.m. and therefore we were woken up at that time on a few days. They finished collecting at 5.50 a.m. so we tried to get back to sleep…….but….. I know you can’t alter what time rubbish is collected, however with the lack of double glazing or good soundproofing, then there is no way to avoid being wide awake at this time. The bedrooms have 3 windows and pull down blinds were on the windows - well they didn’t fit correctly and therefore once the sun came up we were up !!! I did call Reception to ask if someone could come up to see if the blinds could be re-rolled and the Reception staff member was lovely. Within 5 minutes a young man was at our door to work on the blinds - fast response, thank you. He did try and re-roll the blinds so that perhaps they could be more flush and fitted into the window cavity but they were too tight and he couldn’t even get one off the roller. A suggestion would be to have black out curtains in each room. The toilets took forever to flush, even if a tiny amount of toilet paper was put into the toilet, you have to push and hold the button down for ages and ages and ages. I know this sounds trivial, but I put this in so that perhaps a small adjustment might make all the difference. We always stay at Avani Broadbeach, which is only 1 block away, but what a difference it is. Avani, although being on a main road, is so quiet, whereas The Wave Resort is so noisy with the cars, motor bikes, nightclubs and restaurants right below the Resort. Yes you are in the middle of so many restaurants and eateries but you also have the noise that goes with it. If the rooms and windows/doors were soundproofed then it would make such a difference but I doubt that can be done after the building has been built. We were notified that building works were being undertaken around us, but they were nothing noise wise compared to the loud restaurants and traffic. I would not recommend staying at The Wave Resort unless you are young and party goers OR deaf.

I stayed a week in apartment 32 on level 10, overlooking the beach with an uninterrupted view of the ocean. To say the outlook is spectacular seems like an understatement, and if you like the sound of the surf this is defiantly the place for you. The location is excellent. A short, flat walk to shops, restaurants, cafés, and bars. Less than a 10 min walk to supermarkets, shopping precincts and night clubs. It is only a 5-minute walk to the Surfers Paradise night markets held every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday nights. The staff are friendly, welcoming, and polite. I had a small issue with the receipt and found the front desk staff approachable, the issue was resolved on the spot. The list below is lengthy, and it may seem that I’m running the place down, but I’m a details person. I would happily stay again, details provided may help you prepare for your stay. The bed was comfortable though a little on the firm side for my liking. Overall, I found the room was very clean, but was disappointed to find the previous guest had left an obviously unwashed bowl in the cupboard. The kitchen is very small and lacks counterspace, I used the dining table for meal prep. No dishwasher but washing up liquid and a tea towel is provided. Supplied amenities were minimal, while there were a few satchels of tea and coffee no milk was provided. The soap and shampoo supplied were single use. The lounge and dining room are serviced by a split system air conditioner that is very quiet and cools efficiently. There is no air conditioner in the bedroom. Water pressure isn’t great but sufficient. I was pleasantly surprised to find a full range of Foxtel channels not just a few select sports and news as so often the case. The Apartments are overdue for renovations and there are a few maintenance and housekeeping issues. In my room there were some broken tiles, the sliding door for the laundry would only close halfway and one of the towels provided was so threadbare it had a hole in it. A fresh coat of paint here and there would certainly brighten the place up. Although I understand the need to book the BBQ’s and Tennis court, I thought that a $50 deposit to ensure it was left clean was a tad excessive. I can only assume that they have had issues in the past. Car parking needs to be booked and confirmed ahead of time. I have a mid-sized sedan and found the spaces a bit tight, guests with large 4 x 4s might find it a bit of a challenge. Previous reviewers have mentioned the street noise. Given that the building is right on the Esplanade some occasional noise should be expected. I stayed from a Monday to Monday, I only noticed an increase in road noise on the weekend evenings which is understandable. If you can overlook the small things, The Olympus Apartments are great value for money and defiantly deserves to be on your short list.

I very rarely give a negative review but after reading 1600 reviews before booking this resort thinking it would be fantastic unfortunately I cannot give this more than a 2-star review. We are very disappointed. The room itself was good and clean however there were cockroaches in the kitchen and bathroom. We stayed as a family of 4 in a 2 bedded room and were only given one towel each. One would think that housekeeping would change towels each day but we did not see a housekeeper in our stairwell of rooms once! We had to wash the towels that were in the room when we arrived so they weren't soaking wet and we had no bin bags to change the rubbish over once the bin was full. Checking in - you have to pay a $200 bond regardless. If you are travelling with a larger family, good luck because you go up 4-5 flights of stairs. No there are no lifts. Parking - is free and the parking spot is dedicated to your room number however it's so unsafe with the corners. If people aren't paying attention it's an accident waiting to happen. The kids are- great for the kids. This is why we booked it. They have endless but the 2 kids small slides but if your child is small, again an accident waiting to happen cos they can plough themselves straight into the wall, so this was unsafe. fun Your staff and or lifeguards if you want to call them then are qualified. I had to ask 2 guards where we could get some pool towels only to be told she didn't know because she was new. I'm sorry but do your staff get a work orientation day to tell them where things are if needed etc, no. She had to ask 2 other staff members before we got our answer only to find out we had to walk over to reception which is on the other side of the resort next to the other building to get one. Then, we were charged $5 for each towel. Absolute joke considering we paid $400 a night. Dining-in option at the cafe, I call it a cafe because it wasn't a restaurant. The staff (especially the one with long blond hair) was rude and arrogant towards us because we asked a couple of Qs about the size of the meals and all we got in return was rudeness. ‘MEH’ Food is over priced. We ended up deciding to do the takeaway option as the area is cluttered and too small. It was pretty sad actually, especially again for what you pay. Check Out Day - rude front desk staff. Only one working the desk at a busy time of the day. When I asked if they could take the money out of our meal we billed for the room we were told it wasn't an option and we had to pay the full amount on the spot. Again rude and she had an attitude. Checking out of our room - you are EXPECTED to trace ALL your rubbish. It's too much for house keeping or if you even have housekeepers because we didn't see one the whole time. And.… going down 4 flights of stairs was a total pain and inconvenience, again for $400 a night. We shouldn't be expected to do that. We won't stay again. We stayed for the kid's atmosphere and the kid's play areas bu

Booked a one bedroom ocean spa apartment for 6 nights in Mid Oct 2024. Stayed on 38 floor. First impression when entering that apartment was ”great view”. Apartment is spacious and very clean, kitchen facility has stocked with many pot & pan and utensils, can make regular meals with no issue. Also has washer & dryer too. There is a jacuzzi bathtub in the bathroom that is a bonus! We brought food from Coles supermarket (walking distance from Q1) and made breakfast and dinner. To get to Q1 resort from Gold Coast airtport, We brought a public transport card ”GO” from shop in airport arrival hall, took the airport bus #777 from airport (30 minutes ride) to Broadbeach, transfer to the local tram, get off at Surfers Paradise stop. Q1 resort is right across the street. The whole ride is last than 45 minutes, cost only 50 cents AUD., great deal!! BTW, all bus & tram ride within Gold Coast area is 50 cents. So get a GO card. Just make sure you tap on and off with each ride.
