Hotel berhampiran Marina Narval, Gran Canaria

The hotel was ok.Very nice architecture reminding of Africa. They even have some real baobabs. But there was one issue why we will not return. The light in the evening was so dim, they you could not read the menu in the bar. Same in the rooms. They do not give the guests the opportunity to decide how much light there is in the room. No extra lamps or a dimmer. There is only this African savannah light everywhere. Also light from outside all over the day is dim, due to loggia construction instead of balconies. Difficult to read a book in the evening.

This is a very pretty, clean, well cared for hotel. The staff are always very helpful especially the pool bar/restaurant staff. Reception is closed at 4pm so cant comment on. Cleaning staff work hard all day long. Quiet hotel. Always sunbeds available. A bit too far out for us as a family. No bars or restaurants near by so just as well the food in the hotel was good. Had to use taxis to see a bit more and go down to the beach, 8Euros each way. The apartments are spotless but uncomfortable for a family. would suit just couples. Bed in bedroom ok but the 'sofa bed' just awful. Not fit for any kind of comfort even for children. who wants to sleep near enough on the floor for an entire holiday? Accommodation for 4 should not mean one sleeps on the very hard sofa and another sleeps on a bit that pulls out from underneath. The room is not big enough for this anyways. Air con only in bedroom (but is pretty good) so whoever is unlucky enough to get the living space will cook! And the lights shine right through the kitchen window so not the best to try and sleep, i had to cover it with a blanket. The kitchen is well equipped but don't expect to cook even the smallest of snacks without it being somewhat difficult due to space. Just a hob and microwave no cooker. Obviously nobody wants to cook full on meals when on holiday but if you have fussy kids who like what they like it can be tricky. We had a very nice week at this hotel because we made the best of it but due to comfort levels and location i'm glad it was just a week.

Just back from a week with my partner and our 2 young kids and will not be staying here again. All of us fell ill over the course of the holiday with our 2 kids both being sick. This hotel should not be classed as a 4 star; it is a 3 star at best and after what happened on our holiday, thats being generous I’m afraid. Hotel Main areas of the hotel such as the lobby, reception and restaurant are modern and kept clean. Looks like these areas have been renovated in recent years and therefore have no complaints over these areas. They are just as nice as other hotels we have stayed at recently. The hotel has 2 small shops that had everything we needed such as bottles of water, snacks for the room and toys for the kids to play with at the pool. There is also 2 arcades which provide good entertainment for the kids. The entertainment at night was ok. Can’t really go wrong with a mini disco for the kids however the entertainment afterwards was average, a few singers and some dancers was all that was on during our stay. Rooms We stayed in a family room with our 2 boys (aged 1 and 4). Overall the rooms are spacious with a decent sized bathroom. There are no baths in the family rooms but we were already aware of this and didn’t mind, however others may not be aware. Family rooms also come with a small tent for the kids to play in which was a nice touch. The WiFi in our room on the 3rd floor was pretty poor however this wasn’t a big deal as we were on a family holiday so weren’t needing to be on our phones. WiFi around other areas including the pools worked fine with no issues. Food and Drink The food is not good. Despite being advertised as a family friendly hotel the food options for young children in the buffet are really poor. There is pizza, chips and pasta however there was never any meat options catered for children. The buffet did have pork, beef and a lot of fish options however there was never something simple like chicken nuggets for young kids. I did notice some families had plates of food from the snack bar for their kids but not ideal having to go to a separate area to get this, and the quality as mentioned below also wasn’t good. The food was often lukewarm. I know it’s a buffet and therefore can be expected that it will cool over time however the staff should be replacing this with freshly cooked food, especially the meat. The other reviews here suggesting there is a microwave to heat up food are delusional! Why on earth should you have to reheat your own food at a 4 star hotel. There is a bbq outside at the buffet however the one night we did use this, we were served raw chicken as was the person in front. Whilst the manager supervising the area did apologise and get fresh plates and chicken, there are several reviews about raw meat so it clearly isn’t a one off and a bigger issue with staff competency. Nice hotel, our home was to ocean view, it is really a 4 stars hotel.

First we receiver a room on 6th floor, 604. Outside the hotel, aprox 1 meter from the entrance there is a highway with 6 files, heavy and fast traffic 24/7. It was like the beds were placed in the middle of the highway, no sleep that night, called the reception at 5:30 in the morning to change room. We had two choices, one at the first floor at the highway and one with the view to a black wall, but quiet. A small room, probably a single room because there were only one towel and one papercoup. Well we felt the odour in the bathroom but not as heavy as day two, today. I nearly throw up and had to leave the bathroom. It said it should be shampoo with conditioner but of course it wasn’t, it was very dirty in the shower with a lot of black mowl. The hairdryer was screeming when I used it. My husband booked this as a birthday travel and stay during his birthday. It is the most horrible stay we ever had in a hotel and we have made many trips. In the description of the location of the hotel you get the impression that it is just beside the beach. IT IS NOT!! You are located at the highway. Do not go here if you are not forced to. We moved out two days before our check out and moved to a very good hotel, far away from the highway and close to las Canteras. Ps to the manager do not bother to explain this. Do your work and see to that all Windows Will be changed to 4-glass.

This hotel is part of the Bull Hotels chain, and I chose it for its location on Las Canteras beach and for its spa facilities. I spent three nights here and treated myself to a Junior Suite. It was huge with a west facing balcony with a glimpse of the sea. The rooftop pool was lovely with an attentive lifeguard on duty. I also made use of the spa with its hydrotherapy pool, sauna, steam room and Dead Sea pool. I was slightly disappointed with the evening meals in that I expected more of a choice. Men are supposed to wear long trousers but I noticed some men wearing shorts. The hotel's location on the beach is perfect. In the evening, the promenade is busy with people walking up and down - nice atmosphere. The Santa Catalina bus station is ten minutes walk away with good connections to the rest of the island. Las Palmas is a busy bustling city with a very different feel to the resorts in the south. I enjoyed my stay but three nights was long enough.

Terrific value - recommended Stayed one week. Good location, only 10 mins from cruise terminal and a level walk to bus station Euro2.80 per person to airport, buses depart from Las Palmas 15 mins and 45 mins past the hour. (Taxi about Euro 30) Great sun terrace although some mattresses would improve the comfort of the sun loungers! More drawers in wardrobes would be a good addition too. Breakfast quite good but perhaps more variation in hot dishes would be welcome by other guests. If possible some quieter door closures would be a courtesy to other sleeping guests. Very fast wi-fi , we had as requested a quiet room on the 6th floor with prompt lift access. Spotlessly clean clean and quiet throughout. Receptionist Irene is a credit to her employer for helpfulness and providing translations. Manager Hose also an excellent communicator especially with prompt email exchanges before visiting the hotel. Hose even helped with our luggage on departure.
