Aesthetically: A , functionally: D- We came to White Sulphur Springs on a return trip home from Virginia. We saw the Bunker at Greenbrier, which we recommend. We enjoy boutique hotels as often as we can, but this stay had some issues. First though, the pros: great food and drinks in the Varsity Club. We had cocktails and dinner then brunch before we left. Wonderful atmosphere with well spaced tables. The staff were attentive and the bartender made great drinks. The vibe of the hotel is nice. Very sleek with lots of technology. The room is a bit small, but we were not bothered by it. The bed was comfy with plenty of pillows. We were able to stream a show from an iPad. The cons: The walls are paper thin. Constant noise from neighbors to the point that my husband had to go next door at 12:30 a.m. to tell them it sounds like they are in the room with us. If your neighbor sets an alarm you will definitely get up too. The shower has no ledge or place to set shampoo, etc. My husband got sprayed with cold water just turning it on. Overall, we would stay again, but would try a different room.

Beautiful and clean, friendly service. Great restaurant, but not open for breakfast. No coffee in room, no coffee downstairs after 10:00 a.m. We were sent to local restaurant for late breakfast but many businesses are closed on Monday, so we drove to next town for breakfast. Same story for dinner on Mon night. (The in house Varsity Club is open Mon nights.) No closet space, just a couple shelves on wall with a couple hangers. Poorly designed shower sprayed water out of shower space. Room was very small. Adequate lighting, once you read the instructions on how to turn them on and off on the wall panel, which also has buttons for the curtains. Good luck remembering that in the morning! I recommend eating there!

Pros- The property is beautiful!! The attention to the details from the history of the school to all of the specific ADA features were really on point. Very clean and staff were very nice. Cons- The rooms are lacking so much. There is one large overhead light that feels very surgical. No lamps or lights next to the bed. The overhead has three levels and if you turn it off, the entryway light goes off as well. There is absolutely no clothing storage. Only 4 hangers. No wardrobe. Also no chair, only a low stool and lastly no mini fridge. The smart features of the room were awesome and advance but the lack of basic amenities overshadowed this.

We like to stay in unique properties as we travel the US. This hotel certainly fit the bill. We really loved the transition of the school to a hotel but still kept several artifacts and facets of the original building. The accommodations were first class and the staff was very friendly and helpful. We ate at the on sight restaurant and the food and service was also first class.

This hotel is modern and minimalist at the same time, with little carpet-a bonus. The bed was incredibly comfortable and the sheets crisp. There were a few quirks-we were in a junior suite which we thought would have had a mini fridge -we found out from the restaurant you can to request one. Making it standard would be helpful. None of the lights work independently - it is an all one or off situation. Bedside lamps that work independently for each person are needed.All rooms and bathrooms are ADA compliant but the shower was done backwards. It is basically the highest point in the bathroom so all the water runs out and onto the floor near the sink. Overall we truly enjoyed our time. It was peaceful and a great place to recharge.

Great hotel with excellent restaurant. Friendly staff. Clean and charming. BUT the rooms are over the top tech friendly. Could I just have an on/off light switch? A bedside lamp so we can turn out all the lights and one person can read while the other sleeps? An option on the toilet to just flush?

The room. No dresser or closet. Only a stool, no chair. Really difficult if you get uncomfortable in bed and have no place to sit. Ofind it hard to watch tv from a bed. Only one trash can, only in the bathroom. The room is plenty big enough for a couch and chair..a comfy chair, not a schoolhouse chair. The bed wasn't too comfortable, pillows were fine. Everything was clean. I love the toilet thing lol...I love the way the curtains and sheers can be operated electronically. A breakfast bar would be nice. Thank Goodness for the coffee/ tea bar.

As teachers on spring vacation, we wanted to check-out the renovations. Warmly greeted by staff and given a detailed, excellent, informative tour by one of the staff members, we are impressed! One of our family members has autism and some of our friends and family have mobility issues. This is a place we will highly recommend to them in their travels, and upon our return we look forward to staying here ourselves. White Sulpher Springs should be proud to be so accommodating to all kinds of travelers!
