Sandals Dunns River All Inclusive Couples Only

Average at best. Everything previously stated about chairs by pool in the morning and bad service in the restaurants, 100% true. This trip was an incentive trip that was free , so I didnt pay for anything. However, you expect a level Of service at high end resorts , and for this resort it’s not there.

Everyone was so nice, especially Rebbecca-Jane she was the only lady that took the time to talk to me when I was on the beach and was very personable! Also ShanaKay gave me a great massage Thursday and fixed my bad back an I’m going again Sunday, Barthes best treatment at Sandals!!❤️❤️

The good: The new rum bar and coffee are fantastic and we visited daily. The beach and pools were also great. Lunches and dinners had great food, especially the **** shack. Appreciated having the pizza by the slice available. This was a good touch. Rooms were clean and no complaints. Really enjoyed the spa. Needs work: Breakfast buffet was smaller than other Sandals resorts, but the food was good. Only complaint was we had a hard time getting coffee at the buffet. Just went to Blum though. The sit down breakfast was WAY WAY WAY to slow. You couldn't get out of there in less than an hour. I saw several people leave. Entertainment staff was virtually non-existent during the day. We did a "mixologist" class that was someone who made one drink (as they stated, poorly) and then the class was done. Never saw beach volleyball. This is our 7th trip to Jamaica and overall the staff was some of the least friendly. No one bad or rude, but were not as friendly as we've experienced in the past. The ugly: Getting seats at the pool or main area of the beach. This was the worst we've ever seen at a resort. My wife got up around 6:30 one day and couldn't find seats at the pool. This problem has to be solved. While there are more items under the bad, most were not bad enough to affect our trip. Just annoyances (except the chair situation!). We would definitely come back.

This was our first and last sandals trip. Upon waking up our first day we quickly learned you have to “reserve” your pool chairs very early in the morning. We had to either fight for a chair, or wake up at 5 am to put towels out. The food was average especially after waiting 1 hour to get seated/served. There were clearly “regulars” at restaurants and bars that received far better service including being recognized by managers. We encountered most staff ignoring us or making us feel like a burden. The only staff we would like to recognize is the Rum Club manager(who ended up getting us drinks and food after being ignored by a waitress multiple times when she walked by) and Antoinette at the pool bar was awesome! The water sports guys and trips were amazing, they were all super friendly and helpful. Our room and balcony were both small and the couch was very uncomfortable. We specifically got “club” level for the perks, but soon learned nothing was really included. We did get a private check in, but upon checking out they weren’t even open at 8am. Other than the private check in, there was no benefit. We reached out through GINA while on site and it took hours for staff to respond. Overall, this was a disappointing trip and I can definitely say I’ll never stay at another sandals again.

We’re halfway through a 10 day stay. The building and grounds are beautiful, definitely a 5 star but service and most meals a 2 star. We are seasoned travels, been doing AI for 20+ years sometimes 3 trips in a year. 3 different counties so several resorts to compare. Granted we do not take advantage of the included water sports at Sandals…. As I said the grounds and buildings are beautiful. It’s a smaller resort. However, pool/beach side drink service is nonexistent, breakfast and lunch are lacking. There is one ala cart and a buffet for breakfast. The buffet is very small in comparison to most resorts more like a lavish state side hotel buffet. The lunch buffet is also small, but decent in choices. The seaside grill/pizza are very slow, we’ve eaten there three times and have never received our meal (sandwiches, wraps, pizza) in under an hour. Dinners have been decent (although Greek was very slow) but no meal has really stuck out. Regardless of what meal, if you order a nonalcoholic drink, dont always count on getting your drink order and with the exception of wine and sometimes water don’t expect a refill. Staff are either very friendly or you get the impression they would rather be anywhere else. It’s more the later, except for entertainment team and dinner staff. The other extras we are used to at other resorts are also missing. And unless you want to get up at 5:30 in the morning (we don’t mind, but most due) you’ll be lucky to get a chair by the pool (or a shade spot on the beach) will be impossible unless you have a butler. In our opinion this is the only perk of a butler at this resort and we’ve had butlers at other resorts but chose to forgo for this trip. It was our first Sandals and will most likely be our last. There are many other AI that are just as lovely with much better service and perks for a lower cost. We’ve talked with 3 other couples who are seasoned travelers as well and all have a similar opinion. We realize everyone is different but we just don’t get all the positive reviews unless others just don’t have other resort chains to compare to?

Sandals did a good job of rehab on the facility! There are two employees that really helped make the week very special. One was Shavel who worked primarily in Saltaire. She was so nice and always took time to talk to you and make you feel special. Be sure to ask her about Bubba!! The other was O'Neil. He was technically a beach worker, but would do anything for you from getting drinks at bar to gathering sea shells on the beach. Both were super super great people, as all are in Jamaica!!!!
