Ulasan Cairn Hotel

A gorgeous grand dame of a hotel - maybe a little tired, but gorgeous building, large room, super clean, very friendly and great location. We will definitely book here again.

Good room but needs a small fridge for travellers coming to stay for a while

Not one friendly face throughout our stay. Live entertainment twice told by staff member to sing lower whilst actually singing and this at pre 22.00 hours. Free car parking and walkable for an average person into the town. Cleaners left hand written notes on the bed on things cleaned and changed after previous occupants left. Reception uninterested in this scenario and became rather stroppy when informed. Will not be returning as we are embarrassed we took friends there.

Lovely stay, free parking which is rare in Harrogate. Nice stroll into town. Breakfast was served hot and was plentiful. No ques despite having 4 coaches in when we stayed. Our room was big, clean and well positioned. Lovely old building with some nice features. Staff all very pleasant. Wouldn't hesitate to stay again.

Greeted with a friendly face and directed to reception. It’s a massive hotel old but clean and interesting. Our room 333 over looking the back of the hotel green lawn. The only thing I wasn’t keen on was the tea making facilities, which were polostrine cups like takeaway ones. Maybe from Covid, and the tea milk and sugar in a tied up bag, no tray. But later on we ordered sandwiches from the bar and he said that he could get them to our room if we wanted to rather than wait in the bar for them. That’s when I asked for a real cup and he said that he would send two up with our sandwiches. Nothing is to much trouble, I would and will be staying here again.

Breakfast fruit selection could have been more substantial. Reception staff welcoming. Check out procedure good.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Room was ideal for my needs though the radiators were a little cold. Was only there for one night so forgor to mention it. Breakfast was a very good selection. Hotel was so close to the convention centre which was really handy for me.

With it being a hotel I thought the bar would be open later the room was good we liked it only the bed was solid it was like lying on the floor and not enough pillows the two we had very soft apart from that we liked our stay

Quiet hotel,single room appeared tired and needs updating, I asked for a softer pillow and was given another cheap foam pillow. Staff friendly enough.

Lovely reception area as you walk in. Rooms a little bit dated but I like a bit of character rather than a soulless new white room, and for what we paid everything was spot on. Beds very comfortable - nice pillows and quilt. Huge room and bathroom. Walking distance to all the bars. I wouldn't rush back to Harrogate as there wasn't much to do or see during the day but it was a good night out.

Plenty of free parking spaces. Staff were friendly and efficient at check-in. Room clean. Just a 5 minute leisurely stroll into the town centre.

The hotel was beautiful inside and out. We got the simplest room for our needs, and it was still fully sufficient. The only thing which bugged me was how warm they'd set the temperature in our room - and how we couldn't make the choice to turn it down. Aside from that, it was brilliant.

The Cairn is a bit of an old dame who has passed her best but still has a quirky charm in her creaks and groans of hot water coughing it’s way up Victorian pipe work, sometimes never making it! I actually quite admire the tenacity of the staff having to patch over the fading paintwork and tattered carpets but I must admit of our three night stay, not having either hot water or heating for one day was a bit too much. No apology just more of a shrug. Would I stay here again? Probably not despite the decaying charm you don’t get in a modern,chain hotel,

Overall enjoyed our stay. Cant fault staff. Decent breakfast. Food in bar very good too. Only issue really no opening window in bathroom so condensation running down the walls after a shower took a while even with the fan to go everything in the bathroom covered in condensation.
