We hinken een beetje op twee gedachten bij het beoordelen van het hotel. Vanaf de aankomst: de parkeerplaats was groot, maar vol. We moesten wel even zoeken naar een plekje. Check-in ging vlot, er is een oude, kleine lift voor 1 persoon met bagage. De kamer voldeed. Er is geen koelkastje, geen airco, en het zitje dat op de foto's staat, ontbrak. Er zijn wel twee stoelen. Er is een tv met weinig zenders, een badkamer met klein bad en een aparte prima douche. De kamer is schoon, maar kamerschoonmaak, schone handdoeken etcetera is niet standaard. Hierom moet je vragen. Het ontbijt is in buffetvorm. Er is bediening voor koffie, toast en bijzondere bestellingen. Aanvullen gebeurt niet direct wanneer nodig, dus soms zijn gerechtjes gewoon op. In de avond was het hotel uitgestorven. Niemand te bekennen om een drankje in te schenken of wat ook. Op de dag dat we vertrokken, ontdekten we dat er nog een bar was, die blijkbaar wel open was geweest. Je moet het maar weten ...

Lipstick and rouge. On initial checkin, it looked ok. But we first noticed a spider, then lots of spider webs on one light. After removing the spider, we figured the bed was a little lumpy but nothing major. First night was initially quiet until the flat above came back. You can hear everything above. Walking around like you were in the basement of a farm house, voices… everything. So second night came back, found two very large spiders on the walls (talking full grown half a baseball sized spiders) killed them. Then put in ear plugs to sleep for the night. Several times woken by the loud banging of what i think was the opening and closing of doors. Though im not sure, then, after being unable to get back to sleep, removed the ear plugs to hear snoring from the room above. For the price paid, expected far more from this property. If those are not issues for you, then your good. Otherwise, you might want to go elsewhere. It was located in the heart of the town…

Pretty Bar Good Location Good Food if top end price wise Questionable Service. We were a family party of 6 people, visiting the place for a booked meal. It was the day of the Battle light switch on for Xmas so the place had been very busy and I'm sure the staff were tired at the 6pm time we took the table. Lovely decoration and the venue looked great. When the Landlady came over to take our drinks order we asked if we could order food at the same time, which was agreed. One of the staff thought she knew one of our party and asked as much, all very funny and friendly. The Landlady just stood stock still until the person left the asked drinks again. Here it went wrong. When asked what beers, she said the 2 cask. I asked what keg beers and told there weren't any. Then pointedly corrected us saying Tap beer. Managed a eye roll, and generally frosty despite the glowing Xmas ears which made an interesting contrast, then repeat request for drinks. I pointed out we had only wanted to know what beers they had. Frosty look. Once she'd got our drinks order, she was off. Food forgotten, and never came back to our table again. Luckily the other staff were lovely. Then an hour later we asked how long the food would be,then the Landlord came over, apologised that our order had been lost between the bar and kitchen. So food was very late to table. To be fair I didn't ask, but we were not offered anything off as an apology. My food was lovely. Food generally was good if on the top end for a nice pub environment. Some meals seems small (6 pieces,of scampy). Was a very mixed experience but we would be very unlikely to go again. We did tip as really only the attitude of one (high up) person, when the whole team work hard.

Another great stay. Cards on the taable I am biased. We have been coming to stay at the White hart for several years now. If it wasn't any good we would not keep coming back. A traditional 17th (?) century inn with a huge roaring firepllace. Great quality well kept ales. (The brewery from the local brewery drinks his own brew here so he must know something!) From the moment you walk in the door there is a warm welcome from a team that all seem happy to be there. The food we had was amazing and the sunday roast one of the best we've ever had. We are counting the days until we can come down and stay again. As you may see from our other reviews of the White Hart don't expect a generic hotel experience but if you want a quirky tradional British Inn full of great things and great people this is the place.
