Hotel Glemmtalerhof

We have stayed at this hotel several times before in the past 20 years. We returned with our family for Christmas holiday. Our party was 15 strong and the ages ranged from 6 to the mid-70s. We had corresponded extensively with the hotel prior to our arrival and everything was ready for our holiday. Each family was accommodated in adjoining rooms for the children. We were accommodated separately in a well appointed junior suite. The rooms were well-furnished and warm (? sometimes too warm – as there is no air-conditioning). The rooms were generally quiet, although we did experience some noise from other guests on a couple of nights. The beds were comfortable and free WIFI was available. The public rooms and bar were welcoming and we were allocated a table for 15 in one of the 3 dining rooms. The breakfast menu was exceptionally extensive served in a buffet style with freshly cooked dishes available on demand. The dinner menus were extensive and most enjoyable and the younger members of the party could feast from the extensive children’s menu concurrently. We were very well looked after by the helpful waiting staff. The barman was friendly and very efficient. The hotel had arranged taxi transfers from Salzburg for 13 of our party and alerted us when one of the flights was diverted. They immediately rearranged the taxi transfer to collect that family from Linz (at extra cost). We bought our ski-passes from the hotel reception without difficulty. The ski lockers and ski room were the best we have experienced anywhere! We had travelled by car and our luggage was swiftly taken to our room / ski lockers by the portering staff. Our car was parked in the hotel’s underground garage at an extra cost. The swimming pool, sauna and spa facilities were well used by our family as was the games room. Sadly, we experienced some very rowdy behaviour from some other guests from Holland on a couple of evenings after they had returned from their apres-ski activities. Although we had stayed at the hotel many times before, we had not had a similar experience in the hotel previously. On Christmas Eve there was much late night rowdy cheering and shouting later on. This noise woke some of our party sleeping in their rooms – but we let it pass as it was Christmas Eve! We were very disappointed when very similar behaviour occurred in our dining room whilst we were dining just after 8pm on our final evening, 5 days later. We felt that such behaviour was more appropriate to an apres-ski bar rather than a high quality family hotel during dinner – and the staff seemed powerless to intervene and we left dinner early. The reception staff and owner recognised our discomfort and disappointment and apologised profusely. As we departed the next morning, the owner kindly apologised again and spontaneously offered a substantial refund to make amends for this disappointing occurrence - we appreciated her generous action. What a wonderful hotel. I was travelling as a 'solo' with family, friends. My room was at the front of the hotel and was light and airy. Rest of my party was at the side on a different floor. Their room was adequate - not as spacious as mine but kept very clean and tidy throughout the stay. The spa area, massage rooms, relaxation rooms and pool with Jaccuzi jets, fantastic and so very clean; a real credit to the staff and owners. This was an Inghams holiday and everything went smoothly. Inghams select lovely, well run, well kept hotels, so we knew what to expect. The food was 5 course and very well balanced, with a choice of main and sweet. Something for everyone. With the hotel (and Inghams) we received a 'Joker' card (resort pass) which could entitled us to free access on ski lifts, buses etc throughout the Hinterglemm/Saalbach region, with reduced costs on various attractions - this saved us a fortune as we were able to get right to the tops of peaks, enjoy the various walks (all well signposted as per..) grab a beer, something to eat, (photo opportunities) then back down to the resort again. Perfect! We even found a seating/relaxing area with a slot for a drink, halfway down a peak. This had a little wooden box with an old fashioned telephone, where you could place your order for a drink to the restaurant below. The drink came back up to you via a small ski lift! Amazing. There's a lovely walk to Saalbach via the river, various other walks including a wildflower/herb walk, all well signposted. Well done Inghams, it was exactly as advertised. Well done Hotel Glemmtalerhoff. All staff were really friendly and wellcoming, need to just give a special thank you to our waiter Zarra (wrong spelling?) and members Julia, 2 x Leonis and Gabby. You made our stay! There were enough bars in the area without being too many. Great for an after dinner drink (hotel catered well too!). Just to point out that there is some building and rebuilding work being carried out in Hinterglemm, which involves work to footpaths and walk areas surrounding the hotel and outlying areas, so just be aware that some areas are cordoned off/diverted. The areas are used by foot traffic and cyclists alike, so you have to be aware of your surroundings and keep an eye out for cyclists whizzing about. The machinery starts moving into place around 6am and work usually starts at 7am (might just be early due to hot weather). It goes on until around 5pm. Having said that, it is moving along nicely and efficiently and I am convinced it will look really good once completed. Don't be put off going - it's great!

We had a wonderful stay at the Hotel Glemmtalerhof. All staff are very friendly and welcoming. Our room was clean and comfortable. The food was excellent both at breakfast and evening meal. Our grateful thanks go to the chef who prepared delicious, gluten free evening meals for us. It made our holiday very special. Gluten free options including bread rolls and muesli were also provided at breakfast alongside a plentiful buffet of other options. The Joker card provided at the hotel gave free access to many cable cars and the local bus. A truly memorable holiday as we were also blessed with fantastic weather.

The Hotel Glemmtalerhof proved to be an excellent choice. We were given a free room upgrade on arrival and enjoyed mountain views from our balcony. The food is first class and breakfast has a vast choice including hot and cold food. Our room was comfortable and clean . We used the pool a few times and the wellness facilities are superb. Above all the welcome and service by the staff was second to none. They were superb and it made our holiday. There was a bit of noise from another self catering apartment which lasted over a weekend. Hinterglemm doesn't really have a village feel as it's basically a long road. It felt a bit soulless. However the joker card provided by the hotel meant we didn't pay for cable cars or bus travel which saved a considerable amount of money. Access to the mountains from the hotel is brilliant. I wouldn't hesitate about staying at the Hotel Hinterglemm , it's just a pity I didn't fall in love with Hinterglrmm as a village itself.

Everything about our week in June at the Glemmtalerhof was fantastic. The comfort of our room, the food, the location, the wellness facilities, the guided walks and the staff who made us feel so welcome and valued. Wonderful quirky art work and the masseur was incredible too! Thank you - we can't wait to come back

Great location with outstanding views. Very comfortable clean and welcoming hotel. Two basins in the bathroom was a luxury. Spacious room sofa balcony and separate table area. Wide twin beds better than a double and very comfortable. Very good food throughout. Extensive breakfast buffet and Inghams had arranged that we could take our lunch from there in a metal lunchbox provided by the hotel. Evening meal is 6 course. Extensive salad buffet to start with, a tasty starter, soup, always with something in is usual in Austria, choice of excellent main course, choice of excellent dessert, and optional final cheese course to finish (we can only did once). Customer focus and service were exceptional throughout from the initial friendly welcome explaining the hotel, very fast attentive service each meal, and a repair to a door handle fixed whilst we dined. Room cleaning very polite and thorough too. Best we’ve had. Pedestrian zone outside the hotel so minimal traffic. Shops including supermarket very close. Lifts to the mountains very close, one across the road. Lift and bus pass included in our holiday price s just evening drinks and 2 euros local tax to pay. Zipfer beer excellent with the meal if you are not a wine drinker. I highly recommend this hotel and location and Inghams UK who we booked with. . So grateful to all the staff. Excellent holiday.
