Camp Bethel

Thank you ☺️ for the holiday of a life time ! I have not one fault except it passed to quickly for me. The staff are amazing they make everyone feel so welcome & nothing is too much trouble. The place is clean /comfortable/aesthetically pleasing & just full of kindness. The service is amazing the food is magnificent honestly the best food. I am definitely heading back as it was like living a dream for our week. Special thanks to our guide JoJo a fantastic guide. Cant thank the full team enough. Lots of love from Scotland

This was my 7th South African safari and without a doubt this was the best yet. The camp is set in a tranquil location, the rooms are comfortable and have everything you need, even an electric blanket for the coldercseasons. Zebras, impalas and other small animals can be seen from your patio and at night we could hear the lions roaring from a nearby reserve. Thembi and her staff are wonderfully attentive without being overbearing, and what can I say about Chef Gibbs! I'm a vegetarian and he produced wonderful food every day, checking with all guests (there were 11 of us) that they were happy with the menu he had planned. We were up early every morning to go out on our safari drives and saw everything we wanted except the elusive leopard! This was the most wonderful holiday and would recommed it to anyone looking for that special safari experience.

It’s difficult to put into words the overall experience as it was amazing! The hosts were very friendly and helpful. I would recommend this place and area to everyone who wants a safari experience they will never forget. The guides, staff and Chef were absolutely brilliant.

I honestly don't know where to start , the whole experience from start to finish was amazing, from the trip from the airport stopping at the animal reserve seeing some of Africa's wild animals for the first time to Mandela sanctuary, where the accomodation was beautiful and the food was divine, the wee tour telling you the history of the sanctuary, to the eventual arrival at Camp Bethal, to be greeted by the staff there, who go above and beyond to make your stay amazing.The beds were so comfortable and the electric blankets on the beds on the colder nights was a great touch. The animals wandering around the camp were great to watch, the safaris were well worth the early rise in the morning to see all these beautiful animals, back at camp the food was fantastic the flavours and some traditional foods were so very good, and I was fortunate enough to be surprised by a beautiful birthday cake which was absolutely delicious. The staff could not do enough for you we had many a good laugh singing and dancing , and as fir Jojo our guide for the safaris he was brilliant from explaining all about the animals and the country to showing us his traditional dancing. 100% would go back in a heart beat best holiday EVER

Wow what a holiday, staff at camp absoutely fabulous, nothing was too much trouble, food by chef Gibbs was outstanding, catered for everyone even the fussy ones like my husband lol, all staff Thembi, Witness, Sipho, Elvis, Ntiyiso, Michelle, Ethel were lovely, very friendly and entertaining. Viso and Phillip our safari guides were brilliant, saw all the big five, worth the early morning starts, an absolutely brilliant holiday, couldn't fault anything about it.

My Husband and I stayed at Camp Bethel between 5th September – 10th September 2023 and I can honestly say it was the best holiday I have ever experienced. One that is going to be hard to beat. We were met by Jojo, at the airport in Johannesburg, our guide for the week. I want to thank Jojo at this point for being so helpful and supportive during our stay. He went above and beyond to help us spot animals within Kruger national park. Top tip, keep an eye out along the side of the road close to Camp Bethel, we were fortunate enough to spot a Cheetah taking a rest on our way back to camp We were part of a small group, 8 in total which added to the great atmosphere, we all got on well and looked out for each other. The tent my husband and I were given was spacious and clean and had a lovely decked area for you to sit and take in the atmosphere. Each day it was freshened up and towels replaced. Unfortunately with the itinerary being so packed we didn’t see as much of the camp as we would have hoped but this is the only criticism and not a big deal really. Impala walked past the tent on a regular basis along with zebra. We were also fortunate to see mongoose, a bush baby near the bar area and baboons on an evening near the pylons. The staff at Camp Bethel were all so friendly and helpful and went out of their way to ensure you had a good stay, I also want to say a big thankyou to them all for making us feel so welcome. I know many people here have stated how good Chef Gibbs food is. Let me confirm they are not wrong! Each night there was a choice of 2 meals for us and each and every meal was fantastic. A Highlight for me was the night time safari, it was absolutely magical standing in the middle of a reserve, drinking a glass of wine whilst watching the sun set. I highly recommend taking that trip. On a practical level, make sure you take a fleece of something warm, this is mainly for the safari’s you are up extremely early and there is a bitter chill when driving around. Before travelling I was unsure what to take in terms of currency, my advice would be to ensure you have access to both South African Rand and some form of electronic currency. There are power cuts and this can mean some shops have difficulty at times processing payments.
