We had a pleasant stay for the weekend, the bar and restaurant area were very nice as was the food in general. Staff are pleasant, we enjoyed the Spa facilities and all in all, enjoyed our weekend. However, we feel that some improvements could be made in general, particularly to the rooms. If your are charging nearly £300 per night for a room, we would have at least expected a little bit of a wow factor. Room 2 was very underwhelming, drab, cheap furniture, a double bed and although a view of the hills, also a view of the roof. The bathroom was also quite basic, notice advising that "you will be charged £22 if you remove any of the shampoos". I see that another client has already mentioned the state of the bathroom in room 2 several years ago, namely the mould in the shower- this could be removed with re-grouting or just a really good clean with "Cillit Bang". I opted to have a shower back at home on the day we checked out as it was very un-inviting and I'm surprised that they would let this room with the shower. The shower head was a cheap plastic one- no luxury and not hot enough in general, along with a bath mat that I have not seen since the 1970s. I requested an ice bucket for the room, which was provided but we were charged £5 for the privilege- I have never stayed in a hotel before where there was a charge for this request. We spent nearly £1000 during our 2 night stay here, and whilst I am happy to spend this, we don't feel that it was value for money when there are other establishments whereby you could spend a little more, but get a lot more if terms of "wow factor"
