As a career pessimist, I'm always on guard for something to go wrong, ... but when it goes RIGHT, ... Case-in-point: My initial perception of the hotel upon arrival. We arrived a little after 7pm on a Friday, and pulled up behind a City of Houston shuttle bus picking up a passenger. Now, in ALL my travels and stays with IHG, I have never seen a bus come to the front door of a hotel. In my mind I was sayin', "Oh what fresh hell have I gotten myself into?" There were people standing around the front door and in the parking lot. It didn't give me the greatest feeling of welcome. We selected a room on the 4th (top) floor. The room was clean, fresh, and fully stocked. The very opposite of what I was expecting. I salute the housekeeping staff for their professionalism. The next day, after a little "detecting", I found out that this Candlewood is also a long-term, as well as an apartment facility (doesn't state any of this online). Kinda' explains all the people and children roaming the grounds. But the hotel itself was quiet, clean, each bed had 4 pillows, ... everything we expected. The AC even got to a comfortable 68° before we went to bed. As a career pessimist I will say I enjoyed my stay, but they really should work on that first impression!
