My birthday weekend and it was amazing! The room was prefect, the staff was very friendly.

Ok, where do I begin. When I walked in around 5:30pm on 10/9/23, I was greeted by the front desk staff, the young gentleman was very nice and friendly. I went to my room initially because the app said my electronic key was ready to use. Went to the 12th floor and nope, trek back down to the lobby and had to get a regular key. Frustrating to lug my stuff back downstairs. My room was really nice, size wise and they do clean it as well as possible but as all the reviews say, extremely outdated, needs everything replaced. What was really frustrating was the temperature of the water in the shower. Early in the morning, you turn on the water, you have to get in because you're on a time crunch. You stand there, sticking one arm at a time in the water and you're dying because it's so damn cold. By the time you get through most of your body, it finally warms up just in time to wash your hair. On my last morning there, I had a 7:20am flight so I was in that terrible cold shower earlier than I'd like to think about. Yes, I would run the water ahead of time as much as possible but come on! The hotel has potential, but they need to put some serious money into it. The hallway on the way to the elevators has some type of scented thing plugged in, I had to gag as I passed it everyday and wondered what needed to be covered up, scent wise. I've stayed at the Aria in Las Vegas, amazing smell when you walk in, they aren't trying to cover anything up, it's just a wonderful, stays with you and even provides a memory to reflect back on type of smell. Anyway, I was attending a conference. The room itself was fine, no issues there, however, each time we took a break to use the restroom down the hall by the restaurant, it was an adventure. We all laughed because you never knew which sink would leak out water and which would provide the soap. You also, typically had to use a roll of paper towel that sat on the counter that you had to rip off a piece to dry your hand. It was crazy. I would stay again if I absolutely had to, the convenience of attending my meeting and going up to my room during a lunch break was really nice. Sorry, I hate to give a negative review but maybe someone will listen and sink some money into this potential of a hotel. Nice employees though!

d by Marriot houston westchase  asa johnson ​ You CAUTION! THEY RELEASED MY PREPAID ROOMS AND WE ARRIVED ON A RED EYE FLIGHT TO NO WHERE TO STAY WITH ALL SURROUNDING HOTELS FULLY BOOKED. These rooms were confirmed for weeks before. They never called or emailed until that they oversold. I literally called when I was in my rental letting them know I was on the way, and they told me sorry I will need to call another hotel because they over booked. Why they gave someone both if our double rooms, I don't know??? I explained that is unacceptable. Here are photos of the rooms they sent put us in due to their inconsideration. Nasty just nasty. Mold, Hair, dirty, ran down. They finally sent a cancellation email after we showed up for our reservation. Austin Gerdes the Assistant is the general manager that gave away our rooms and he wouldn't return any calls. I felt bad for the poor lady on duty trying to clean up his mess. She gave him my number over the phone but he never called. How inconsiderate. This is a business trip and they started it off as a nightmare. Horrible practice and damaging to Marriot's reputation.

This hotel was very clean, modern and I was Very impressed with this hotel!!!!

We absolutely loved this property! We had different reservations, the first day we were greeted by an older man with glasses. HE WAS very helpful & nice! The second time we were Checked in by Simona.. the lady with the different color wigs… she was PHENOMENAL & made us feel very welcomed. Overall the property was clean & the rooms very spacious. The sofa bed my gosh, so comfy! The lobby was spacious and clean and offered lots of seating. We will MOST DEFINITELY be back.

Upon check in, we went to our room only to find out the key card/lock would not work. The concierge was very helpful and said he'd send the engineer up to assist. We waited about 10 minutes, but I understand the engineer was very busy assisting with other patrons' key card/lock issues. So we had to leave the hotel for dinner and come back. The concierge said he would have the engineer test the card/lock to ensure we would be able to get into our room later that evening. Upon our return to the hotel room, we still could not get in. We contacted the night concierge,and she called the engineer. We waited another 15 minutes for him to show up. At that point, he troubleshot the issue and could not get into the room. He said he would need other tools to get us in. So we waited another 10 minutes in the hot and muggy hallway for him to come back with crowbars. He was finally able to get us in; this was after about 30 minutes total of waiting in the hot hallway. Now I do not blame the engineer or concierges; they were just doing their jobs to the best of their abilities. But a very nice hotel like yours should have a better fail safe system in place than crowbars. Kind of scary that someone could pry open a room with a small crowbar or two.

1. *DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel & Suites Houston at the Galleria IS THE FIRST HILTON-MANAGED HOTEL I'm STAYING IN WITH SUCH UNHOSPITABLE AND UNPROFESSIONAL FRONT OFFICE STAFF. 2. The front office staff, unfortunately, are a new guest’s first contact but they lack professionalism and decorum. First impressions last forever, they say. 3. They don’t wear name tags at the front office (except Pinky Pradhan), so they carry on providing sub-standard services in anonymity. 4. THE RESTAURANT STAFF ARE ALL SO CORDIAL & SO NICE. 5. The food was excellent. 6. The facilities are super (gym and pool) except that the lifts are so slow and were perpetually being fixed for the seven nights I stayed there. 7. Only one electric power outlet (charging point) in the King size room, which was far from the work desk. So, laptop use was not fun. I was on a business trip, not on holiday 8. I was told that a guest has to be Hilton Honors DIAMOND to qualify to have a bottle of water in your room...amazing! I chose the hotel because of its proximity to JW Marriott, venue of my training, so I could do a few minutes' walk to and fro. I wish I stayed at the Marriott. I may not recommend DoubleTree by Hilton Houston at the Galleria to any one I care about.

If it were possible to leave a zero star review of this particular property I would do so. I did not actually stay at the hotel - this review is related to the terrible service I received regarding my reservation and attempted check-in. First, let me note that we are Hilton Diamond members, so we only stay at Hilton properties and we are frequent travelers... I had a reservation booked for June 5-9 for two connecting rooms. I have a copy of the CONFIRMED reservation for guaranteed connecting rooms, and I should note, we selected this particular hotel as they showed guaranteed connections as an option. When I attempted to check in to my rooms via the app the rooms were not connected or even located next door to each other. I called the hotel directly and no one would answer the phone. I then called Hilton, spoke to a customer service agent who ALSO confirmed that my reservation was confirmed for guaranteed connecting rooms. The agent attempted to call the hotel (while I sat on hold for 20+ minutes because no one would answer his call either). When he finally got someone on the phone they argued that our reservation was not for connecting rooms and informed him there were no connecting rooms available. I was ultimately transferred to a couple of different agents and then finally connected directly to the hotel. The person I spoke to (night manager/desk person on the night of June 5th) was the rudest Hilton employee I have ever dealt with. She informed me that there were no connecting rooms available and then proceeded to argue with me that I didn't have a reservation for connections. I offered to send her the reservation confirmation as proof. She ignored me. She said she could put us in rooms that were ”close” to each other - I told her that was not an acceptable option as we had children travelling with us that could not be in a hotel room by themselves. I asked if she could at least correct the issue and reassign us to connecting rooms starting the following day and for the rest of our stay. Her response was that she didn't know if that was available and couldn't confirm it because she ”didn't know who was working the next day”. I then told her to cancel one of our rooms and put us all in a single room with 2 beds plus a rollaway bed. It was at that point that the employee got rather nasty (and even more unhelpful than she already was) and informed me that she would not be taking any ”demands” from me, started acting like she couldn't hear me any more (sarcastically saying ”Hello? Hello”? Oh, I guess you aren't there?”) and then hung up on me and refused to answer the phone again. This was all happening at approximately 10pm. I was left with nowhere to stay for myself/my family that night and had to scramble to find a new hotel. The entire failure of the reservation and then the way the hotel employee dealt with the situation was utterly unacceptable. Stay was beyond excellent. The room was clean, fresh smelling and the bed super comfortable. Staff were friendly and professional. Shout out to David who gave us a warm welcome. Hotel does NOT charge for parking, which is highly unusual. The hotel offers a parking garage and surface parking behind the hotel. The location is very convenient. Without traffic it was only a 15 minute drive to downtown, 10 minutes to the Galleria and 10 minutes to Memorial Park. The challenge is navigating the frontage roads to actually get to the hotel, but Waze or Google Maps was spot on with the guidance. The hotel definitely has an older architectural style, but the rooms are super clean and well maintained. The concierge lounge is stocked with sodas, flavored water and snacks. Soundproofing was sufficient that we never were bothered by the freeway noise! We stay at dozens of hotels on an annual basis, and this hotel is simply one of the best run properties we have experienced. Definitely would recommend this property and stay here again.
