Oh wow, Matetsi Victoria Falls!!! Where do I even start? The 1st of April marks exactly a year after our visit to the resort as a family. I traveled with my husband and our 4 children with the youngest being 3 yrs. A big thank you to Doubt who received us at The Victoria Falls Airport. Doubt was very professional and friendly to all of us. Immediately after welcoming us, he gave us our cool refreshments and we set off for the majestic Victoria Falls rainforest. We later arrived at the Matetsi resort, and we had such a warm welcome. We felt so welcome and felt the love all over the place from all staff. Boven, the amazing Butler received us together with the other staff. Our guides and trackers were Blessing and his colleague. The guys were so awesome, full of knowledge on nature and game. We loved the morning coffee delivery in preparation for the early morning game drives. These were so memorable, and we would want to do them again. Our kids enjoyed the game drives and by the time we left they had mastered the art of looking through the woods for animals. Our children also enjoyed the fishing expedition, the sunset cruise and the bon fire where we had dinner out in the dark, lanterns set out for lighting and dancing to the drums and marimba with singing. Their rooms were so beautiful with careful unique detail on all aesthetics. They were super clean, and the beds felt so nice and comfy. A big thank you to the special chefs in the kitchen, their meals were out of this world, definitely a world class standard and they never disappointed. Matetsi is Zimbabwe’s own paradise, the jewel of Africa. This was indeed an amazing experience and would want to visit again!

The most amazing place ever. Had the best guides, Simba and Jeff for all our game drives. The staff are amazing and so helpful. So quiet and peaceful. The food was fantastic and beautifully presented. Desserts were amazing. So much thought went into the whole week. Loved the ice cream stop too!

Matetsi has a special edge which is the story of a regeneration of nature in the area. It’s more than a safari experience for tourists…it’s part of the future for the protection of the beautiful country that is Africa. We loved close up wildlife encounters with outstanding conservationist guides on exciting morning and evening drives. Water buffalo, zebras, elephants, giraffes, leopard, baboons, black backed jackals, kudu, warthogs, impala,waterbuck, crocodile, hippos not to mention a vast array of birds. Hope I have left anything out! We took amazing walking safaris aimed at learning about the flora and fauna of the area. We enjoyed stylish and luxurious accomodation where every comfort is considered. We ate like royalty with; delicious moonlit suppers overlooking the fabulous and ever changing Mighty Zambezi, Boma dinners with the best local singing and dancing you could hope for and sumptuous dining in the special wine cellar. Sunrise and sunset boat cruises were a particular highlight…that river is so special. Then of course the Victoria Falls is stunning. Primarily there are the outstanding people who make the whole the place. So many special experiences to recount we cannot thank you enough.

My daughter's jewelry disappeared in the last night before departure and we did not recover it. We made a complaint and the hotel management did not bother in answering us. They even did not accept that the robbery had happened. A place to avoid at all costs.

The Matetsi is surprisingly chic in the middle of a private game reserve. Upon arrival, we were seated and given fresh drinks in the open air living room of the lobby area. The rooms were massive and very well appointed. We went on game drives each day and saw so many animals and babies! One day, a hippo was grazing outside our room! The next day a family of warthogs ran past. This is a very immersive, outstanding hotel with staff members who are gracious and welcoming. A five star experience!!

Loved our time at Matetsi, and could have stayed longer. River view cabins are so comfortable and well appointed, we haven't slept that well in a year. We loved the morning coffee delivery, and sitting out on the river watching baboons in the trees, gazelles and even an elephant passing by at day break. If you love elephants, this reserve will be a dream. We saw literal hundreds on our game drives and river boat. We generally have managed expectations about food at game reserves, but the food at Matetsi was truly delicious. Guides and trackers were awesome and knowledgeable, and the camp and staff go out of their way to provide a lovely experience.
