Exceptional Stay at Hotel Royal Hsinchu: A Standout Choice for Business & Leisure
My recent visit to Hotel Royal Hsinchu (Hsinchu, Taiwan) exceeded all expectations, with flawless performance across every critical metric for a luxury hotel stay. Here’s a detailed, verified review organized by your requested criteria:
Cleanliness (9.4/10)
The hotel sets an immaculate standard. Guest rooms—including spacious beds, sleek干湿分离 (wet-dry) bathrooms with smart toilets, and city-view windows—are wiped down thoroughly daily, free of dust, odors, or stains. Public zones (lobby, restaurant, pool, and gym) are continuously maintained; even high-touch surfaces like elevator buttons and doorknobs are sanitized regularly. The entire property is smoke-free, ensuring fresh air throughout, with no musty smells common in older luxury hotels.
Location (9.3/10)
Perfectly positioned at No.227, Section 1, Guangfu Road, right on the doorstep of Hsinchu Science Park (ideal for business travelers). It’s a short drive to freeway interchanges, Hsinchu High-Speed Rail Station, and downtown shopping/dining districts. The free shuttle service connects guests to the science park, HSR station, and key local spots, eliminating transit hassle.桃园国际机场 (Taoyuan International Airport) is about a 40-minute drive away, while nearby convenience stores, cafes, and local eateries are within walking distance.
Service (9.5/10)
Attentive, professional, and warm—this team goes above and beyond. The doormen greet you by name after check-in, front desk staff handle requests (room upgrades, late check-out, local tips) quickly and politely, and multilingual support ensures global guests feel at ease. Bellhops assist with luggage promptly, breakfast attendants refill stations proactively, and housekeeping is discrete yet thorough. The staff’s willingness to personalize your stay (e.g., arranging birthday amenities) truly elevates the experience.
Amenities (9.0/10)
The hotel offers a comprehensive suite of luxury facilities. Guest rooms come with free high-speed Wi-Fi, premium linens, mini-bars, welcome drinks, and in-room safes. The heated outdoor pool and sauna are perfect for unwinding after a long day; the fully equipped fitness center caters to health-focused travelers, and the Royal Beauty Salon provides relaxing massages and treatments. The on-site restaurants serve an impressive breakfast buffet (featuring both international cuisine and authentic ********* specialties) plus refined Chinese, Japanese, and Western dining options. Additional perks include free parking, business center services, family-friendly rooms, and adapter/board game rentals.
Final Verdict
Hotel Royal Hsinchu is a five-star gem that balances luxury, practicality, and genuine hospitality. Whether you’re visiting Hsinchu for work (especially at the science park) or exploring the city’s culture and food, this hotel delivers an outstanding stay with zero compromises. I can’t recommend it highly enough and will definitely return on my next trip to Hsinchu.

LucasoPros: Breakfast is perfect, very good combination of western and *********. Location is perfect if you are visiting Jiao Tong University and Tsinghua University. Only a couple of bus stops. Very authentic local restaurants around. Employees are willing to help. Free soda in the fridge, decent gym. Good balcony view in certain rooms.
Cons: My room was clean but shower head was loose, although I was able to fix it myself, it made the bathroom a chaos. Shampoo and bodywash are not good considering it's a 4-star. Electronic bidet that cleans you but doesn't dry you out... public baths could be a good place to relax, but it only open 4-10pm, which is not friendly to travellers who only stay for the night.

Nice breakfast spread. Friendly staff. Location is close to Hsinchu zoo and park. This is great for the little ones. But not much else nearby. We took bus into main city, a few stops away. Large supermarket nearby to buy necessities.

Staying at the Hua Tai Hotel (Hua Tai Classic Business Hotel) in Hsinchu is a bit like stepping back into the 1980s. It’s nostalgic, straightforward, and arguably the best ”bang for your buck” if you want to be right in the heart of the city.
Here is a balanced review based on the current 2026 guest experience:
The HighlightsPrime Location: You couldn't ask for a better spot for transit. It is a 3-minute walk from the Hsinchu Railway Station and within an 8-minute stroll to the City God Temple Night Market. If you enjoy being where the action is, this is it.
Value for Money: For a budget-friendly price (often around $25–$30 USD), you get a surprisingly spacious room. Unlike many modern ”shoebox” hotels, these rooms have plenty of floor space.
Breakfast Buffet: Many guests are pleasantly surprised by the breakfast. It’s a local spread—think braised pork rice (Lu Rou Fan), porridge, and stir-fried vegetables—alongside basic toast and coffee.
Unexpected Perks: Even the budget rooms often come with a bathtub, which is a rare find at this price point. The hotel also offers free use of a washing machine on the first floor. The ”Old School” RealityVintage Vibes: The hotel is definitely showing its age. You’ll find wooden doors with traditional locks, dated carpets, and some ”dusty” corners. It’s clean where it counts (the sheets and towels), but it doesn’t feel ”modern.”No Central Heating: Like many older buildings in Taiwan, there is usually no heater in the rooms. If you visit during a cold snap in January or February, it can feel a bit chilly inside.
Eco-Friendly Policy: As of 2025, they no longer provide disposable amenities (toothbrushes, combs, etc.) due to government regulations, so remember to pack your own!
Windowless Rooms: If you book the ”Comfort” or ”Economy” tiers, be aware that many of these rooms do not have windows.
The Verdict 7.5/10 — The Practical Traveler’s Choice
If you are looking for a ”main character” aesthetic for your TikTok or a luxury spa experience, this isn't the place. However, if you need a safe, quiet, and incredibly convenient base for a night or two while exploring Hsinchu, Hua Tai Hotel is a reliable classic that won't break the bank.

For the price, this place was very disappointing. First surprise was when checking in, you're told that you have to hand your keys in whenever you leave. I asked why, and they said they don't want people copying the keys, but it certainly doesn't make me feel my stuff is safe when I don't have the key. Why they couldn't use a key card system like every other hotel, I don't know, but they wouldn't have that problem if they did. In any case, the locks are terrible. Like the kind for locking a bathroom door, it'd probably open if you rattled hard enough!
The room itself clearly hasn't been redecorated in years, and looks tatty and everything is old and outdated. Worryingly, clearly there's a water leak from the bathroom and the corner of the wall on the bedroom side showed obvious water damage and looked damp. I think the room had been cleaned well enough but everything was so old, I didn't really want to touch anything. There was no quilt cover, just a sheet under it, so who knows how dirty that might have been. Likewise, there was a water cooler in the room rather than supplying bottled water, but I didn't feel confident trying it and bought bottled water from the shop instead.
I think they'd tried to make an effort to make the rooms colourful. That was a focus of the room pictures and also they have photos of different room styles downstairs in the breakfast room too, but it just looks a bit weird. In my room, it looks like they found a random outdoors picture on the internet and copy pasted some random English text over the top. So, there's a full wall sized advert for a foreign internet company. It just looks tacky on a bedroom wall!
The shower is over a bath, which is pointless as the bath is about 1m long and so nobody would fit in it comfortably anyway. Of course, there's no shower curtain so everything in the wet room gets soaked when you have a shower. Also, there's a sign by the toilet paper dispenser telling you not to put paper in the toilet, so I put my dirty paper in the bin provided. Was quite shocked that they don't clean the room daily as it wasn't a pleasant smell a day later.
The breakfast was very basic Chinese style. I've enjoyed the Chinese breakfast in every other hotel I've stayed here, but here it's basically only rice, tofu and pickled vegetables.
The location is good though. Close to the train station, and so near to all the sights as well.

Sharon PSThe hotel room and overall establishment is old and worn out. It was totally different from the pictures shown in Trip.com. Room is small and there's always smoking smoke entered my room easily as the gap between door is quite big. Sometimes, the smoking smoke from other floors entered from the toilet window which was covered with glass door into my room's toilet. Hence it was very very unpleasant and uncomfortable to sniff in all the secondhand smoke from other hotel guests stayed in other floors. I also found a condom packing which was tore off and dumped at the bottom of tissue holder after I used the very last piece of tissue paper in my room I got a shock to see that. I then realised the hotel was rented out for day use for *** making purpose. As free condoms were provided as part of the amenities. The housekeeping granny was friendly and did her part to clean my room and did my bed maybe she had overlooked about the tore off condom packing laying at the bottom of tissue holder. The water dispenser looks old and no mineral water bottle was given. I ended up buying my own water from convenient store. Location wise is just across the street from the Hsinchu Train Station. Best service I will give credit to the housekeeping granny who is friendly and helpful.

Booked this hotel as my friend is also staying there, I was there only for a night and was given room 601.
Once I open the room door I noticed a weird sourish smell. Room is definitely dated.
The AC kept making weird noise, had to turn it to low and the noise level is more acceptable.
Other than that it appears to be clean.
As I was staying for only 1 night and my friend is staying more nights, after I checked out, I went over to his room to store my perishables in the fridge as my flight is at 8pm.
Once I stepped in, there was a strong sourish smell in the room which even the cleaning staff acknowledged that she smell it too. She sugggested opening the window to facilitate better air flow and if it still doesn’t work then maybe will use a air freshener.
And then, the metal key didn’t work when I try to open the room door. The same lady assisted me and told me to turn the key left before turning the door knob right. But when I came back to the room, the key doesn’t work no matter if I turned it left or right.
She took over and it opened, had to turn it left with more force 😬
Next, AC controller doesn’t work.
She came back again and when she press it worked but she also said it’s tougher to press the button, she will change the batteries. After changing the batteries it’s still very tough to press the button, so she changed the controller instead.
How eventful.
Won’t stay again if I can help it.
Positive note though, the room wall paper doesn’t have the weird black barbwire pattern shows on the pics of trip.com, sorry I forgot to take pics.
