"The rooftop at Granbell is a standout. The infinity pool is a great place to watch the sunset from. Get there early as it does get busy. Pool bar also well laid out. The rooms facing the ocean are worth it. It feels like you’re on top of the ocean. High ceilings majestic the rooms feel large. Not a smart TV with only local stations. I’m on holidays so I didn’t mind. The staff are friendly and super helpful. The breakfast is large offering all types of international breakfast options. The only criticism would be the fruit was not the best. Considering you’re in the tropics, I’d expect better. Location is great. Close to Galle green, pharmacy and supermarket."

"Unexpected First Experiences! We check in passed 130AM and Hotel receptionist cant find our booking. After handover the booking confirmation + payment receipt, the receptionist just ask us to wait without any explanation. We need to wait for more than 60mins for them to prepare our room and handover the key to us. More unexpectedly they assigned a PWD room to us, not the room type we book we have no choice to sleep over for a night as we only managed to get to our room after 3AM and so tired of long hour travel. We requested to change room next day and being told to wait for 1 hour and again, the receptionist did not arrange new room for us and just let us wait without updates. We again request to change room on the 3rd day and finally they change to a normal room for us. Hotel management need to put in more effort to monitor your services because no guest wish to experiences this kind of unpleasant experiences."

"I had a fantastic stay at the Marino Beach Colombo Hotel, and I’d happily recommend it to anyone visiting Colombo. The energy of the hotel matches the city in the best way—there’s a lively, enjoyable atmosphere that makes the whole experience feel fun and memorable. One highlight for me was the great view from the hotel. It really adds to the overall vibe and makes it feel special, even when you’re just stepping out to take a moment. I’d highly recommend booking a room with a balcony. As a mature solo traveller, that private outdoor space made a big difference—especially in a city that can be hot and busy. Even when the day is energetic, the balcony offers that easy, tranquil respite you need to recharge. And the rooftop infinity pool? Absolutely wonderful—great views, a fantastic atmosphere, and a calm break from the city buzz. I also need to make special mention to Upendra. The entire reception/concierge service was brilliant, but Upendra’s attention to detail truly stood out. He supported me with my eSIM and helped with my transport needs, and I genuinely felt valued and cared for—like I was a beloved auntie. It’s exactly what I appreciate from young, enthusiastic staff. Finally, I have to mention the beach club. It was a great experience—and thanks to the life guard, I even got to enjoy a “tethered” swim in the sea. (And yes—at almost 6 feet tall, tethering this Viking shield Maiden really isn’t as fun as it sounds 😄😂) Thank you again, Upendra—and thank you to the Marino Beach Colombo Hotel team."

"This is by far one of my most treasured hotels in the world. I’m now approaching 150 check-ins and no I don’t live in Sri Lanka! The Galle Face Hotel is perhaps “old and tired” in places, buts its service and care for its patrons is in my opinion beyond reproach. I’d recommend anybody to stay here. Mr Feroz who man who runs the “In on the Green”, the hotel pub, cares about his staff and his customers, with an unobtrusive approach that reflects across the hotel. Mr Gerard Paul, Asst Manager Front Desk is another manager that cares about customer experience.  The Head Consierge is simply amazing to all guests. Put this against bell boys, cleaners, wit staff in bars and restaurants this hotel has it all. Yes as I said it’s getting old but it epitomizes charm, and has capitalized on colonialism, to its advantage providing great employment to its local staff."

"This hotel is a newly opened five-star Marriott hotel on the Colombo waterfront. Across the street is the Cinnamon Life at City of Dreams, a five-star hotel with a striking exterior. After much deliberation, I chose this one on the beachfront. There's security at the porte-cochère, and a baggage check before entering the hotel. The ground floor is lined only with sofas, and the front lobby is above. The lobby lounge was very spacious and had a gorgeous atmosphere – truly impressive. I arrived early, so the front desk wasn't crowded, and they upgraded my room without any special comment. It was a room with round walls, which I love, and absolutely beautiful. The room's interior and furniture had a more classic feel than I expected, with a large column, a spacious bed, and a large television being particularly striking. The minibar was housed in a heavy, single-door cabinet, giving it a luxurious feel, and there were five bottles of mineral water. However, the minibar refrigerator is usually locked, so it was a shame that I couldn't chill the water. There was welcome fruit on the table in the foreground. Next to the entrance was a walk-in closet, and beyond that was a spacious bathroom. The bathtub was open, but I appreciated that the toilet and shower were properly separated. The beauty mirror was also unusually large. Best of all was the round terrace, which offered views overlooking the beach and the city. The hotel has two pools, both infinity pools overlooking the ocean. The gym was in a hard-to-find location, behind a spa-like reception area. The breakfast area was one of the largest I've seen in any hotel so far, with plenty of food, but it was crowded and difficult to find things, which was a bit tiring. Also, there was a long line at the live kitchen, and many people, including the staff taking orders, were cutting in line, which was disappointing. Service was smooth and professional, and the staff were polite and helpful throughout the stay. The location is convenient, especially for business travelers, and the overall atmosphere felt calm and well-organized. Check-in and check-out were efficient, and room service and housekeeping met expectations. Overall, Radisson Hotel Colombo offers a reliable and comfortable stay with good service standards. Based on my experience, I would definitely consider staying here again during future visits to Colombo."

"I had a wonderful stay at the Mount Lavinia Hotel. From the moment I arrived, everything exceeded my expectations. The service staff were exceptionally friendly, professional, and always ready to help with a smile. The hotel environment was beautiful, clean, and very relaxing. I especially loved the garden area, the swimming pool, and the stunning beach views. Waking up to the ocean view from my room was an amazing experience. Even the washroom was well-maintained and offered a great view, which made the stay feel even more special. What impressed me the most was the genuine hospitality of the staff. They made me feel welcome throughout my stay and paid attention to every detail to ensure my comfort. Overall, I would rate my experience 10/10. Everything—from the location and facilities to the service and atmosphere—was simply perfect. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a relaxing and memorable stay in Sri Lanka."

"Overall pleasant stay at Cinnamon that I'd totally recommend to anyone and stay again myself. A comfortable bed, nicely sized room, beautiful property, convenient location, such friendly staff and a wonderful breakfast are just some basic memorable facts about our stay for 3 nights. The bakery downstairs, Plates restaurant, and the mall next door just add on to the comfort of the stay at Cinnamon Grand. To top it all off, we upgraded our stay to the executive floor, and accessed the lounge to enjoy a variety of mouth-watering snacks (that changed everyday) and took 2 free laundry/day offering. It couldn't get any better!"
