We travelled as a group of 3 families in a group of 10 and were sadly really disappointed with the level of service experienced during my recent stay at Dreams Lanzarote Playa Dorada from 23/07/2024 to 30/07/2024 and despite upgrading to the ‘preferred club’ experience unfortunately, the experience was far from a dream and was in fact totally unsatisfactory. We actually decided to book at the recommendation of our friends that we travelled with to resort, given that they had a wonderful experience staying at Dreams Playa Dorada in August 2023. We booked this holiday as a group of 3 families with 10 people arriving together in total. Had we have received a better level of service we could have been a group that would have returned every year and raved about your beautiful hotel, to all of our friends and family. Upon arrival, my family and the other two families we travelled with as a group waited for 30 minutes to check in, with no welcome or acknowledgment from the staff. This lack of hospitality set a negative tone for the rest of our stay. Additionally, despite a member of our party specifically requesting that our rooms be located next to each other, and in block 1 next to the preferred family pool back in February, our accommodations were not arranged as requested and essentially told by reception staff that they had not been able to plan for this despite our requests 5 months prior to arrival. This although a minor inconvenience caused unnecessary hassle and was dissapointing not to be in the part of the hotel our group would have made best use of proximity wise despite forward planning. Furthermore, the restaurant service at the hotel was incredibly slow. Preferred club guests are not prioritised or able to book tables for a specific time and wait times for tables were far too long, on a number of evenings we had to take our children to the buffet restaurant as they could not wait this long to eat, which meant our a la carte experience was completely diminished. We had to wait for extended periods to be seated on numerous occasions and even after being seated, again we waited for extended periods to place food orders, and the cocktails we ordered took a staggering 40 minutes to arrive from the bar located about 20 metres away. This unacceptable delay significantly impacted our dining experience and left us feeling frustrated and dissatisfied. It was very clear to us all that the staff although working very hard which was very much appreciated they were under resourced and therefore under pressure, and this reflected in the service and manner in some cases. Moreover, the behaviour of some staff towards guests was concerning. We witnessed staff, lifeguards and guest services aggressively removing towels from sunbeds throughout the day (not just the AM) creating an uncomfortable atmosphere and ruining the feeling of the relaxation we were promised as preferred club guests.
