Hotel berhampiran Junction Church, Johannesburg

From the beginning of our visit we found the staff welcoming and eager to help in any way. The band that was playing was excellent and the outdoor lunch delicious with the waiter being a breath of fresh air with his attention to detail. The rooms were sizable and very comfortable and the rose petals and elephant towels a lovely touch. The evening meal was absolutely delicious and the therapists were fantastic!!!!! Morning breakfast was wide spread and very tasty. Booking out took minutes with big smiles and friendly service. Overall a wonderful visit which by no means will be my last.

It was such a lovely stay. The location is perfect as there is so much to do within the ****** that you don’t have to travel far. It was an awesome experience, very lovely and friendly staff! I would highly recommend it. Oh, and the breakfast was great!

The bed was very comfortable. Food was delicious. Room service was excellent. The waiters were friendly especially Dodzo.He was almost occupied but was able to serve all his customers on time. The only thing that the hotel needs to improve is to always have jug of water than buying from the kitchen. i saw lot of guests coming with water from the shops.

Quite honestly, the best hotel I've ever stayed in. Unfortunately, we only stayed one night and I can't wait to come back. We were given a complimentary upgrade to a garden suite and were welcomed with a glass of bubbly on arrival. A concierge assisted with our suitcases and the welcome from the reception, door staff and concierge team was wonderful. The cleaning staff were lovely and the room and hotel were cleaned to an incredibly high standard. Security around the hotel is superb, we were visiting from the UK and felt completely safe. We were checked in and out of the car park and the security and car park staff were friendly and helpful. The room was perfect, the bed was the most comfortable I have ever slept in and the bathroom was stunning. The toiletries were very high standard. .Our terrace was beautiful and we sat relaxing, looking at the gardens. The bar area is great, we enjoyed a drink just taking in the stunning decor. Breakfast was delicious, everything you could wish for. We had a walk around the pool area afterwards and next time we stay I'll book a spa treatment. We walked over to Monte****** during our stay, it's great to not need the car, so that we could both enjoy a drink with our dinner. I can't wait to come back! I've found my Joburg 'go to' hotel. I've stayed at the Pivot (Southern Sun as it was previously called) quite regularly since 2012. The Hotel was always recommended by business colleagues and customers, also quite popular with international sport teams. I travel for business. So the bad first: The Wi-Fi is absolutely atrocious, it's gone through a variety of iterations over the years but this has to be the worst performing hotel Wi-Fi i have experienced (in a city) for a very long time. It was pretty bad in November 2022 and we were told they were replacing the Wi-Fi and it wasn't finished and now March 2023 (I assume the people ran off), barely usable, which for business travel is a major problem and something the hotel should address. AirConditioning - It is pretty ancient, noisy and struggles in the heat. Restaurant Hours - Offers no flexibility and is possibly why it is quite lightly used, menu's have reduced, options reduced. There is the main Monte****** Complex within 5 mins walk which has lots of options. Room Amenities - There used to be water / can of fix in the fridge. Now just one water, I am pleased the cookies have still survived (albeit a lot smaller). The shower still leaks across the entire bathroom and the sinks have never looked that hygienic even from 2012 (square manually assembled). The Better: The rooms are clean and well maintained, very functional, the shower works but the pressure seems to have been reduced over the last couple of years and the shower heads need replacing / cleaning better. The Good: The beds are very comfortable, the pillows also good quality and the black out curtains ensure an undisturbed evening. The rooms do not pick up much external noise, so you are not disturbed by your neighbours or people in the corridors. The bar is good and service from the staff is generally very good, normally requests are dealt with very efficiently and the occasional time I have had to address an issue, was also dealt with quickly. The outside Pool is also lovely (cold) but weather permitting is a nice place, as well as the Pool Decking. Great location, lots of secure parking and generally a very safe location.

If there were another Hilton’s in Johannesburg, that is where I’d be staying. But there is no other option for a loyal Hilton guy like me, so I spent 10 nights at the Hilton Sandton. I will readily admit that from day-to-day, the staff and the facilities were absolutely wonderful. Staff were friendly and accommodating, the Executive Lounge was very well serviced, the restaurant was excellent, the hotel grounds superb, the Business Centre efficient. I had pre-arranged airport pickup and daily business rides through the hotel and our driver MORGAN proved himself many times over to be reliable and flexible thoughout my stay. However, both the checkin and checkout process with the Front Desk were distasteful, disturbed my entire stay, and made me wish I was somewhere else. I had reserved and prepaid for a King room; as a long time Diamond member, I naturally expected some sort of upgrade, especially since I was staying for 10 nights. After 18 hours of flights, and a further 24 hours of layover, all I wanted to do was sleep. I had checked in online and knew my room assignment. At the Front Desk, I handed over my American Express Hilton card, and passports for my wife and I to HOWARD (“an experienced Front Office team member” according to hotel General Manager JOHN MCAREE). At first, HOWARD could not find my reservation and, next, once found thought it had been cancelled and, next, thought the reservation was in my wife’s name (it was not), and finally when he found the reservation, took a copy of my wife’s passport (but not my own for some unknown reason). I then had the temerity to ask if there any possibility of an upgrade. “Oh no no no” said Howard. “Why not” I asked. “Because you checked in online. Once the room is assigned, there is no changing it” said HOWARD. I knew from experience this was rubbish and not in compliance with Hilton policy or procedures. Indeed, when I checkedin online, the Hilton website said that an upgrade would be made available if possible. So I gently persisted in my questioning, and Howard gently insisted that no upgrade was possible since I had checked in online. I believe it was only when I asked for the business card of the General Manager that HOWARD checked with a colleague and, indeed, an upgrade was magically offered. It was the lowest level of upgrade possible, but something is better than nothing. I thanked him for the upgrade, and again asked for the GM’s business card. They had none. Indeed, they wrote down his name for me (three times with three different spellings) but did not know his phone # or email address. (I later googled him and got both). Perhaps due to this little interaction, HOWARD forgot to tell me about the Business Centre, the gift shop, the free shuttle to the local mall, hotel restaurant hours, the WIFI code, the hotel spa, or any of the other hotel services. He did mention the Executive Lounge several times in a tone approaching reverence. Never in my 20 years of experience with Hilton
