OYO 375 Chef House Resort

I have been coming to Nepal regularly since 2010 and in Kathmandu I would not stay at any other hotel than the Chef House Resort. The hotel is located in a quite busy part of Kathmandu. All stores, ATMs and supermarkets are within a 5 minute walk. A cab stand and bus stop are on Birendra Chowk, just outside the door. I recommend taking the public bus to Thamel or Swayambhunath at least once. It is a beautiful and, in my opinion, important experience. To Thamel it is 20-25 minutes by cab. To Swayambhunath depending on traffic 30-40 minutes (800-1000 NPR ~ 7,20 Euro). We have walked several times from Chef House to Pashupatinath and back via Boudhanath Stupa. 12.5 very rewarding kilometres if you want to get to know the country and its people. When you then pass through the entrance gate and stand in the very well-kept courtyard of the hotel, lovingly decorated with colourful flowers, there is peace and quiet and the hustle and bustle of people, especially honking cars, trucks and tractors, sounds distant and unobtrusive. Now you have time and leisure to review the experience over a good coffee or dinner. The mixture of the quietness in the large courtyard and on the balcony of the hotel with the hustle and bustle, far away on the street, make the hotel particularly charming, in the middle of a world so completely different from ours. Master chef Sanjeev and his staff create dishes for which you have to go to a four-star hotel elsewhere. What I particularly appreciate is the fact that you are always helped. Whether it's booking a hotel in another city you want to visit, organizing a car and driver to get there, or dealing with airport authorities and airlines over lost luggage, the hotel manager handles it all. Unagitated, reliable, just in time. A courteous, always friendly all-around service. All in all, highly recommended with outstanding value for money. If you do not only use the frequently offered program: Thamel - Durbar Square - Pashupatinath - Swayambhunath and Bhaktapur, in order to disappear afterwards in the direction of Lukla or the Annapurna Trek, the Chef House Resort is the ideal starting point to get to know Nepali to make acquaintances and friendships that make the vacation a lasting experience.

Gesamterlebnis: Unser Aufenthalt im Chef House Resort war durchweg positiv. Die Kombination aus exzellentem Service, komfortablen Zimmern und einer ruhigen Lage machte unseren Besuch unvergesslich. Zimmer: Die Zimmer sind gut eingerichtet und verfügen über Annehmlichkeiten wie Klimaanlage, Flachbild-TV und einen Kühlschrank. Das eigene Badezimmer war sauber und mit kostenlosen Pflegeprodukten ausgestattet. Besonders die Veranda,l auf der Frühstück serviert wird. Service: Das Personal war stets freundlich und hilfsbereit. Der Zimmerservice funktionierte einwandfrei, und der angebotene Geldautomat vor Ort war sehr praktisch. Essen & Trinken: Das Frühstücksbuffet bot eine vielfältige Auswahl, darunter kontinentale und amerikanische Optionen. Das hauseigene Restaurant servierte köstliche Gerichte. Lage: Das Resort liegt etwa 3,7 km vom Bodnath Stupa und 4,5 km vom Pashupatinath-Tempel entfernt. Die ruhige Umgebung und die Nähe zum Flughafen Kathmandu (nur 1 km entfernt) sind weitere Pluspunkte. Fazit: Das Chef House Resort bietet eine ideale Kombination aus Komfort, Service und Lage. Wir würden jederzeit wiederkommen und können es wärmstens empfehlen.
