Ycona Luxury Resort

Stunning new resort with amazing villas surrounded by beautiful gardens, small lakes and spice garden. The resort design has been very well thought out and very attractive. We stayed in the 2 bedroom pool villa which was absolutely stunning and huge. The outdoor private pool was big with a lovely patio area - partly covered. Inside there was a large open plan kitchen with all modern facilities and amenities. This led into a a spacious and impressive lounge area. Just off this were 2 well appointed separate bedrooms and bathrooms. The villa really did have the WOW factor. We loved it so much that we returned a second time! The main swimming pool area is very chic with a swim up bar and a number of outdoor salas located in the centre of the pool area. There are 3 restaurants including and Italian, African and Fusion Mediterranean. Food was very good and a good choice of meals. The breakfast at the Y Lounge were exceptional - plenty of fresh fruit, smoothies and juices and a great A la Carte menu. Staff here were exceptional and very friendly and keen to please. Couldnt do enough for us! This is a great place to go and chill and relax for a few days! Loved it!

My partner and I had a lovely stay at the resort. From start to finish the service has been excellent. Before we arrived Roberto and Omar checked in to assist with any requests / activities & transfers. The dining team were all lovely, plenty of choice and an exclusive dining experience. The breakfast is fantastic - with the option to have in your villa. It was a lovely surprise bring out a cake for my partners birthday! Pool area and facilities are top notch and space to park if you drive to the resort. The villa itself is simply fantastic. Pure luxury and well worth staying in the signature villas if you can! Special thanks to Omar and Roberto from Guest relations who made the stay extra special for us! Also many thanks to the restaurant staff including James, Dismus & Esther to name a few! We had an incredible experience at Ycona Beach Resort. What started as just a plan to rent beach beds for a day turned into a six-night stay we’ll never forget. The staff was exceptional—genuinely kind and attentive at every level. The villa was beautiful, with comfortable beds and an outstanding à la carte breakfast every morning. The best resort we have ever seen and visited we already have been enjoying So much because of the service and location and also the staff was more friendly especially Mr Omar from guest service, we wish to comeback as soon as possible to have enjoy again

My family of 5 stayed in a 3 bdrm family villa. Property is new & still under construction (they hide it well and did not disturb us but not everything is fully open), Property opened 10 mo ago. That being said, this place has potential to be 5 stars but is not there yet as a seasoned US (NYC) traveler. Pros & 5 stars: The property is beautiful. Lush landscape, the layout of the property and the privacy between each villa. The restaurants are beautiful too! Most staff are wonderful, they make this property feel 5 star especially the GM Anja. If it weren't for her my rating would have been less. The main pool & swim up bar, and our villa pool were nice and cleaned every day. The food is very good. We liked most everything except for Mama Africa. The Slyce restaurant was our favorite. There is a pool table there which my family loved, but wished it was open during the day for use too since it is located by the family villas. Cons & room for improvement: The largest villas are the most expensive at resorts so they tend to have the most ammenities and are fully equipped. Having stayed at many 5 star villas I have a comparison. We found many flaws in both the design and quality of the 3 bdrm villa. First, when we checked in, the Guest Services mgr Omar offered (tried) an upgrade to a less trafficed (noisy) villa for $150 more a night. We were already paying for the most expensive room/villa type and paying full board for 5 nights. Asking for more $ for a quieter location in the first 5 minutes of check in is a Big red flag! We booked their all inclusive 5 night min plan (heard from other guests who stayed for 3-4 nights there wa no min.) through a trusted travel agent. Our room wasn't ready so we went for lunch. When it was ready Omar brought us the key but there was no escorting into the villa to show us the features or layout. Omar did check in with us often and appreciated the jenga, cards & pool ball to keep at our villa. The villa was beautiful in size, clean, private and the pool a nice size. The room temp. was in the 80s or more & was inundated with flies & bugs everywhere when we checked in. Housekeeping leaves the doors open while they clean, both "eco" inefficient w/ the AC & creating the bug problem. Website states amenities: hair dryers. 1 hairdryer was provided for 3 bathrooms. In addition, living room TV was broken, it was replaced right awa. The AC was not strong enough for the space. We spent awhile sorting out the issues, at least the stocked fridge of drinks and warm pool made up for the time. No hot water in the MBath shower until the 3rd night, towel/robe hook in Mbath fell off the wall the 2nd day, never fixed. Toilet seat in hall bath was too small for the toilet & shower water leaked on floor making it a slip hazzard for my kids. So many design & functional flaws that shows this property owner is new to hotel architecture/design/construction. Lastly, not one full length mirror in the entire villa. A

We arrived excited for our stay at Ycona as the place looks beautiful on photos. And indeed it looked just as beautiful upon arrival! Great. But that’s as far as the positives go. Unfortunately the only luxury thing about this resort is the aesthetics. Upon check-in we were informed the three restaurants advertised is not open simultaneously, which means you only have one place to have breakfast, lunch or dinner, which is misleading when you are booking a resort that says it has three restaurants (more accurately put it’s one restaurant that changes location). Additionally they push you to pre-order your dinner hours in advance “to have a great experience”. I’m guessing it’s to avoid food waste, which is fine, but it’s not really what you want on a five star luxury resort. Upon check-in we were also informed that if we had any issues they were there to help. Which is true, the first night our bedroom didn’t have curtains all around which meant it was bright as day in the room at 6:30am, when we raised the issue that morning additional curtains was hung in the room. However, throughout our entire stay we encountered problems every day and despite willingness to fix any problems we had, we didn’t go on holiday to get any problem fixed, we went on holiday to have no problems at all. Staff is very friendly but clearly not very well trained. Out of 5 waiters we had only one who looked to have any real experience in the service industry. We were missing items with our orders daily, they came into our villa/garden three times unannounced, they took our robes and didn’t return them, turndown service was missed and generally just very insecure service. We also ended up having breakfast at the villa on two occasions as there were too many bees to eat at the beach lounge. In the villa (beach front) the choice is to sit outside in the sun or in the room on the couch in front of the TV (again, if you’re forced to have breakfast in your villa, these are not five star choices). The last night we had booked the romantic dinner under the stars, which boasts a private intimate dinner on the beach. Without notice they had moved our dinner from the beach to a private dining area near one of the restaurants, where the only sounds we could hear was from the other guests and the live music which was played there. When we raised the issue of no notice we were told that it was because of the wind, but our villa was just next to the beach so we knew there was someone else having the private beach dinner that night, ON THE BEACH. We were offered two complimentary cocktails as compensation. We didn’t take the argument with the waiters as it wasn’t their decision and we didn’t want to end up ruining our last night more than they already had, so we declined the cocktails and went on with our dinner as planned.
