Abbey Lodge

Stayed for three nights whilst touring the area. The guest house caters for largish groups and so lacks the intimate and more personal a**osphere that a private house B & B could have, but never-the-less provided a comfortable, clean room and bathroom with good choices for breakfast ,and in a convenient location for the town. We had requested a walk-in shower rather than a bath with shower, which is difficult for my wife, but somehow that had been overlooked. We appreciated the lengths that the gentleman who greeted us went to re-arrange allocations to suite our needs.

Not at all like the pictures. Room was barely adequate. Very old and needs an upgrade badly. Bathroom was funky and we had to lug our heavy suitcases upstairs ourselves. No help offered. Would never come here again. A travel agent booked us here. I would call it threadbare.

A nice stay at the Abbey Lodge hotel with the building being a lovely boutique style with a homely feel to it. Check in was very quick and no fuss which is a major plus when you have been travelling for hours in the car with kids. Centrally located for all amenities and with accommodation now being restricted in this wonderful part of the world the Abbey is a shining light that will no doubt be fully booked every time as its very very good. Towels and bedding are plentiful with toiletries good, only gripe I had was the soap dispenser beside sink looked a bit old and shower controls with hot water were a bit difficult to control. Breakfast is also not cheap at 15 euro a pop but it is good, but you can buy a lot of food for e15 from tesco! Anyway a minor gripe but the Abbey is excellent for staff, actual hotel accommodation and location and I will certainly go again for friendliness and comfort.

Stayed in November, what a place! Such comfortable beds. Clean rooms and a very welcoming building, so homely 🥰 We stayed in room 12 and it was amazing! Room was big and spacious, had a tv and an iron, hair dryer and towels. Talk about the shower, you can choose the temperature and the pressure! Obsessed doesn’t cover it 😍 tea and coffee was accessible at any hour. 100% would stay again and definitely recommend to a friend‼️

Friendly welcome, very clean, booked an accessible room. Would be perfect if the basin was a wall hung style without a cabinet (even though the modern cabinet is very stylish) to make it more suitable for wheelchair users. Great breakfast with a varied menu to suit young and old.

Best breakfasts for the whole trip! Delicious waffles, eggs, Irish breakfast, porridge, etc. Rooms were very basic and the 'family room' was so small we had to put our suitcases out in the hall. No coffee/tea-making in room.

Stayed recently at the Abbey lodge. Good location and was greeted with friendly staff . The room was spacious and clean although the bed was uncomfortable and I believe there is a pump that goes on everytime anyone in the back block has a shower, which was every 2 minutes in the morning and evening . It’s like a mini Jack hammer. Gets a bit annoying after a while. There was something wrong with the shower head but that wouldn’t bother me to much as these things happen. Breakfast wasn’t included in the price which I would say was above average price for Ireland but probably typical of Killarney prices . Would I recommend to stay there for a night or two ? For the location, general cleanliness & a place to put your head down…Yes . For me personally it would be a no unfortunately. Thanks for everything though .

Not a place I would want to stay again. Rigid with rules on breakfast, keys etc. Worse of all they failed to service the room and wouldn’t answer when I tried to contact them to at least get a clean towel. I had put the card out to service room. I called them on the desk phone with no answer. There is no towel rack in the bathroom so the towel is still wet. They also stocked the room with only one bath towel. You have to reserve a time for breakfast and then wait to be seated. Overkill in a B&B. When I wanted to change the breakfast reservation time for the second time I was summarily dismissed.

We spent two nights at Abbey Lodge. We were welcomed warmly. We were happy with the location, the room was spacious and breakfast was good but could do with a spot of brightening up. The bathroom although spacious, was too dimly lit however, and the two separate sink taps (hot and cold) were a nigh**are. The cold tap clung to the sink and flow was very poor. The breakfast staff and the chef were so kind and provided excellent service. Onsite parking was a boon. All in all, this was a comfortable stay in beautiful Killarney, right opposite the superb national park.
