Vuma Hills

Nice location, great people, plenty of animals. Our first camp on this trip. It was very comfortable. However, based on a hill, it was difficult for one of our party to navigate as she has a breathing problem. That said, nothing was too much trouble for the staff and they went out of their way to help. Tanzanian people are superb.

The location, accommodation, food and staff were all outstanding, we wished we’d booked more nights. As with most other reviews, a bush baby came to dine with us which was a great experience to the less dangerous wildlife. We don’t tend to return to places we’ve all ready been to but if we did, we’d go back to Vuma hills.

This was a once in a lifetime experience staying overnight in a tented camp. The room was spacious having a king size bed and there were two other single beds. It was little dark while having a quick shower. Lunch provided was good but disappointing for dinner.

Foxes Safari Camp at Vuma Hills in Mikumi Game Park was the highlight of my family's vacation! Our guide and driver team, Moses and Andrew, were incredibly knowledgeable and skilled. Because of their eagle eyes, we got to see leopards high up in trees on two occasions! Game drives with them were an adventure every time. We appreciated their care of the wildlife, for example making sure we didn't stop too close to an impala and her just-born baby (still in its sac!), and gently piling some logs on the ground near a nesting plover to keep her safe from other vehicles. The staff at the camp were all wonderful: personable and kind and very professional. They made sure we had coffee and pastries before our early morning drives, and worked hard to ensure we were comfortable and happy. The accommodations and food were outstanding! Packed meals for the game drives were creative, satisfying, beautiful...we were thrilled to be eating outdoors! Dinner at the camp was accompanied by bush babies! We admired the photo of the lion that hangs on the wall in the dining room and found out that it was taken by Peta, the camp manager, who has an incredible eye!

The camp had a lovely atmosphere and great views from the lodges, the lodges were luxurious although billed as "tents", and had all you needed. The restaurant food was fantastic and all of the staff were lovely. The safari trips were well organised and I felt perfectly safe at all times. A great location with the wonderful Mikumi national park a short drive away from the camp. I saw all manner of wildlife and it was a fantastic experience. I booked through Lisa Hillyard of Travel Counsellors and the whole trip was well organised and enjoyable. Thanks to all involved.

Vuma Hills provided an outstanding experience. Everything was fantastic from the accommodations to the food to the service. It was amazing to hear the wildlife at night from our tent. I highly recommend Vuma Hills for anyone visiting Mikumi.
