What a hidden gem! We have been to Koh Mak before and this is the best hotel we have been staying on. We stayed on the hotel on the other side of the street but it was terrible so we changed to Islanda and I wished we had boked Islanda in the first place. It’s clean, no insects in the room, very good food, the staff is amazing, the breakfast is really good and the view - the best view in Koh Mak!! The hotel looks newly renovated now after covid and I really hope they keep this standard! We had the room with pool view and then we upgraded to the room with both pool view and sea view which both was amazing. The location is also great, really close to everything but still very calm (no dogs etc). We are going home tomorrow but if we go back to Koh Mak this is definitely the hotel we will stay on!

We had a great stay at Makathanee! We splurged and had a beach view bungalow … which was amazing! The room was spacious, the bed was soft and comfy, the view was amazing and the sound of the surf was loud. The resort grounds are pretty and well maintained. We never went to the pool but walked by and nobody was there. The chairs on the grass by the beach were always full. The beach was clean and inviting and the water was warm. Good things: nice (10/10) staff, good breakfast, nice restaurant on the roof and good location. We had a few meals nearby on the street and rented a bike to explore the island. We also enjoyed the restaurants and bars on the beach nearby. You are not isolated at this resort. Not so good things: the only thing we didn’t like was the old, broken chairs on our patio and on the grass. Not that important- but something they could plan to replace. Great location, peaceful but not boring, great facility

L’un des meilleurs hôtels qui existe, et j’en ai visité beaucoup dans la monde entier. Certes tout n’est pas parfait, mais il mérite amplement les 5 étoiles. Nous venons d’y séjourner cinq nuits et vous laisse un avis sincère et objectif. Les plus : Le CALME ABSOLU associé au charme de ce Resort. Le design de l’hôtel est fantastique, tout est beau et la construction comme la décoration sont formidables. La piscine à débordement possède une vue à couper le souffle, et les petites villas sont magnifiques et très confortables. Je conseille vivement d’en prendre une avec une terrasse sur le toit, c’est génial. Les prix à l’hôtel me semblent raisonnables, plus chers que à l’extérieur sans être prohibitifs (ex: 200 baths pour un pad Thai). La nourriture est en plus très bonne, y compris les pâtisseries. A noter que l’hôtel propose un service de taxi à 50 baths par personne, des scooters 400 baths la journée (250 en moyenne à l’extérieur) et des voiturettes de golf à 800 baths pour 5 heures. Tout est plus cher qu’à l’extérieur mais en comparaison de l’Europe c’est très peu cher. Les moins : La situation de l’hôtel est un peu excentrée, mais avec un scooter il suffit de quelques minutes pour aller sur les belles plages. En parlant de la plage, celle de l’hôtel n’est pas la meilleure de l’île pour nager mais le coup d’œil est très beau et lorsque les conditions sont réunies la baignade reste agréable. Ensuite il y a le service. Le personnel est vraiment sympathique mais ces jeunes gens manquent d’expérience. Par ailleurs, beaucoup parlent mal l’anglais ce qui occasionne parfois des malentendus. Mais ils sont tellement gentils que au final ce n’est pas si grave, il faut savoir être tolérant, avec le temps les choses s’amélioreront. En bref, j’y retournerai volontiers !

Recommended by a friend I went to this place full of expectations for a quiet stay with no hustle and bustle to deal with - as Bangkok is getting insane these days. I've got what I needed. Being a part of a group of like-minded people we settled in this sanctuary of nature, calm and good, fresh, natural food. The Italian owner was were helpful and we soon feel like a big family. I will have those couple of days engraved in my memory forever!

Nous avons choisi ce lieu sans trop connaître l’île de ko mak. L’hôtel est très agréable, environnement verdoyant, les huttes sont jolies et propres, la piscine est un grand plus et agréable. Le seul souci est qu’il faut louer un scooter pour se déplacer, ce qui a été fait en passant par l’hôtel.
