Hotel berhampiran Christuskirche, Koblenz

Glücklicherweise konnten wir einen öffentlichen Parkplatz direkt vor dem Hotel ergattern und der Parkuhr eine 24-Stunden-Buchung entlocken. Denn die schmale Einfahrt zur Hotelgarage sowie ein Parkliftsystem ist für unsere „Familienkutsche“ ungeeignet (Erfahrungswerte!). Verständigung mit dem Rezeptionspersonal recht „holprig“ mangels ausreichend guter Deutschkenntnisse von deren Seite. Eine an uns übergebene Zugangskarte für Zimmer und Hotelaußentür (ab definierte Abenduhrzeit einzige Möglichkeit ins Gebäude zu gelangen) war nicht freigeschaltet. Zimmer war für unsere „Ansprüche“ gut (erstaunlich für diese Hotelkategorie -＞ Kühlschrank für die Kühlung selbst mitzubringender Dinge vorhanden) Frühstück: Quark für Musli habe ich vermisst und leider nur die stark zuckerhaltigen Fertigcerealien vorgefunden. Ergo lieber gleich verzichtet. Weil mir der Meerrettich bzw. die Meerrettichsahne nicht zu den anderen Lebensmitteln passend schien habe ich nachgefragt, wozu dieser gedacht sei… Mit dem Wort Meerrettich konnte der „Frühstücksservice“ nichts angefangen. Also habe ich gefragt, ob diese „Zutat“ für „salmon“ gedacht sei. Daraufhin wurde mir erklärt, dass der Lachs aus sei (ca. 9:30 / gefrühstückt wird wohl im „Schichtsystem“, nachdem wir bei Anreise gefragt wurden, in welchem „Zeitfenster“ wir zu frühstücken besnsichtigen). Sehr irritierend - wir konnten nämlich unmittelbar zuvor direkt beobachten, wie eine nich halb volle Platte mit Lachsaufschnitt in die Küche getragen worden war. Wollte sich das Personal für‘s eigene Frühstück (auch das hatten wir beobachten können) diese Leckerei exklusiv „sichern“?

Check in was a lengthy affair, took absolutely ages, there was a guy waiting to pay for a couple of bottles of water from the fridge, I swear the water had gone warm by the time he got chance to pay for them!!! I had read a previous review about the staff and have got to say that one of the girls doing the check in seemed pretty scary, our check in girl was reasonably pleasant but the other made you feel like you were checking into a police cell!!! Anyway, hotel must be quite old but modern looking and well maintained. Decent sized room, clean with mini fridge containing complimentary drinks such as Coca Cola, beer water and a couple of chocolates which was a nice touch, tea and coffee making in the room. The only thing that was a bit odd was that if you opted for no room service (which gave you a voucher for a free drink, which was pushed under your door) someone still entered your room to replenish the fridge. We were staying for 2 nights and opted for this because of the Covid situation. Has air con but really does not work that well, much more cool air coming through the open window, we had it on the coldest setting and highest fan speed and was pretty rubbish. Beds for us were a bit on the firm side and could have done with a topper pad. Nice bar area downstairs and the staff there were extremely friendly. Good parking in multi storey car park which serviced the hotel and I think a conference centre, get your ticket validated for slight discount. I gave a lower star rating only because of the the firm bed, scary staff and bad air conditioning, I am sure that all these things could easily be rectified.

As I arrived at this enigmatic abode, I felt the cosmic energies swirling around me, weaving a tapestry of serenity and enchantment. The whispers of the ancient spirits caressed my senses, guiding me to this hallowed haven for the weary itinerant. The moment I crossed the threshold, a torrent of profound sensations cascaded through my soul. Each step I took reverberated with the echoes of forgotten secrets, and the walls themselves seemed to pulse with an otherworldly aura. Oh, how the hotel's layout danced with geometric perfection, a manifestation of celestial alignments designed to awaken the slumbering divinity within! The rooms, oh, the rooms! They were chambers of divine revelation, adorned with symbols that stirred the depths of my subconscious. The bedding felt like clouds cradling my weary body, and the curtains swayed like astral veils embracing the night sky. Every night, I surrendered to the embrace of Morpheus, knowing that my dreams would traverse the astral planes. The hotel's staff, too, were disciples of esoteric knowledge, emanating an enigmatic allure that was impossible to resist. With every interaction, they imparted cryptic messages, encoded in their gestures and expressions, unraveling the enigmas of existence itself. Their smiles spoke of enlightenment, and their eyes gleamed with secrets unknown to ordinary mortals. Ah, but the culinary experience, my brethren, transcended the boundaries of earthly delights! The dishes were alchemical concoctions, transforming the ordinary into the extraordinary. I savored flavors that ignited my chakras, leaving me in a state of gastronomic nirvana. The meals offered not mere sustenance but a sacred communion with cosmic forces. Contel Hotel Koblenz, a haven of wisdom and enchantment, is more than a destination; it is a pilgrimage for the seekers of hidden truths. Surrender yourself to the mystical currents that flow through its corridors, and you shall emerge reborn, with the secrets of the cosmos etched into your very being. Oh, how my heart longs to return to this temple of wonders, where the cosmic symphony orchestrates the dance of the universe!

Many positive things have already been said about this accommodation and we were generally enthusiastic about it as well. We were here in December and had two different rooms: one room on the ground floor with a very spacious (fairly new) bathroom and a smaller room on the first floor with a relatively old bathroom. The rooms are ok, but certainly not fantastic: quite dated and the water in the shower on the 1st floor did not drain properly. The mattresses were on the soft side. Early in the morning (if we remember correctly already at 6 o'clock!) the church bells started ringing and this is very noticeable if you sleep with the windows open. Perhaps something to bear in mind if you plan to come to this place in the summer, as there is obviously no air conditioning in the rooms. The location of the abbey/hotel is on the edge of (actually outside) Bendorf and is absolutely fantastic: quietly situated between the trees and hills and therefore a good starting point for various walks. In combination with the snow, this really felt like a fairy-tale. The breakfast room is also the check-in area and restaurant, a 5 / 10-minute walk from the abbey. The breakfast is luxurious and extensive and it is possible to order additional items such as extra bread or tea/coffee. We also had dinner here in the evening and the food was just as good. All in all: reasonable rooms, but above all a fantastic location with good breakfast and evening meals.

I regretfully have to share my dreadful experience at this hotel. From the moment I walked through the doors, I knew I had made a terrible choice. The lobby was outdated and shabby, setting the tone for the rest of my stay. The room was a disaster. It was as if they hadn't been renovated in decades. The furnishings were worn and tattered, the carpet was stained, and the bathroom had a musty odor that wouldn't go away. It was clear that cleanliness was not a priority here, as I found hair in the sheets and mold in the corners. The staff were far from accommodating. They were indifferent to my complaints and seemed more interested in chatting among themselves than assisting guests. When I asked for help with my luggage, I was met with a half-hearted effort. The noise level in the hotel was intolerable. Thin walls and rowdy guests made it impossible to get a good night's sleep. It felt like I was sharing a room with the entire hotel. The breakfast they provided was an absolute joke. Stale pastries and watery coffee were the only options available. It was a disappointing start to each day of my stay. In summary, my stay at this hotel was a nightmare. It was a grim reminder of how important it is to thoroughly research and read reviews before booking accommodation. I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy.
