Looking for a resort for your wife and family to hang out in the day while you are out diving then this is not the place. Go to Cove. Looking for a resort that has a poolside bar and big western bar /restaurant /lawn /buffet then go to Cove. HOWEVER, if you want a special secret place that is 1/3 the price of Cove and a great place to sleep while you use your hotel arranged $50 /day car rental then stay here! The hotel is local and smaller so it is a great place to sleep at night with good size breakfast and plenty of free breakfast coffee. It is similar to Cruise Control Diving Center, which Leo, Shell Hotel Manager, helped me find and actually drove me to. I wish I could have given him a big tip! CrCont Diving is Japanese tailored, English speaking, Japanese traveler and Western traveler place that is larger than Sams and Fish&Fins, yet not as well know outside the Japanese tourists. It is less than half the price as the others and all the dive places use the same 500 hp boats and go to German Channel, the Big Hole and Blue Corner etc. (The three biggest sites). How did I find out about it? Leo from Shell Hotel personally took me there! Getting back to Shell, it was great. I lived the clean Balinese interior. There was no mold, no bugs on the floor and modern toilet, shower and sink that are even better than my upscale home in the USA. I have not written a review of a destination hotel before. I did this because I owed travelers this inside only special gem of a place that charges so much less and isn’t on the Google searches. I wish they would put this on Google Maps or the Apple Maps that comes with the iPhone. That way more people would know about it. Yes, they rented me a car for $50 per day including insurance. They took me to Cruise Control Diving. I hadn’t heard of them before either. I did put some pictures of Shell on this review. Again, Shell is not the place you will want to hang out at all day. It is a more local hotel that is a great place to lay your head at night. It is priced lower because it is not a resort. If you want to go to Palau and need a super clean and helpful staff, oh yes, did I say 1/3 the price of a resort :) , then this is the place to stay where you won’t feel ripped off. It is like a B&B but your own and not in someone’s house. In it’s category I highly recommend it 10/10. The staff will give you all the inside knowledge of Palau and take you to locals priced places. My wife and I were here for 3 nights, meeting the waiting driver at ROR Airport and arriving at this hotel at 3:30PM. A nice receptionist made the check in quick and easy, filling out a short form, verifying my credit card, collecting the key and following the driver down the 1st floor hallway. Room #2103 had wood patterned tile and was the perfect size for its comfortable king, long shelf-desk unit with Keurig coffee machine, water, refer, large TV(clear BBC, CNN and ~50 more channels), secure room wifi and a quiet wall AC. A spacious bathroom included a tile shower, large vanity and heated Japanese toilet. A sliding door opened to a concrete patio with a table and 2 chairs and view to the parking lot. The 6AM breakfast buffet is complete and run by 2 lovely cooks who prepare/serve oatmeal and omelets to your preference. Starting at 11:30AM, lunch and dinner is available at the popular adjoining Canoe House Restaurant where we enjoyed 2 excellent meals. I used the small 4 station gym and we both swam in the clean long narrow pool. We walked 220m west to the large Surangel’s Supermarket and rented a car($65 with insurance) to circle Babeldaob island and tour Koror and Malakal Islands We were very pleased with this friendly, quiet hotel which included airport transfers($66 RT), nice breakfast, good restaurant and 24 hour reception.

We stayed for a one-week diving trip. We booked the hotel as part of a package with Palau Dive Adventures (PDA). Our package included airport transfers—20 minutes to the hotel from the airport. Here is the need-to-know information. Breakfast was excellent. Everything you could ask for was available. The restaurant was open for lunch and dinner. We did not find the prices exorbitant. Higher than surrounding restaurants but not too bad. There are a couple of restaurants within walking distance (Kramers—excellent) but you will need a taxi to get to other restaurants. We used the driver from PDA. The process was very easy. The rooms were large and could easily fit three people. Each room had a king and single bed. The beds were excellent, and the walls were thick. We heard no outside noise. Each room has a fridge and a safe for valuables. The water in the shower was OK but not super-hot. Toilets flushed without problem. The Internet was excellent. I was able to do Zoom calls and Skype without difficulty. The pool is large with plenty of chairs. However, there was never anyone in the pool. Everyone was diving. If you have non-divers, they will have no problems using the pool.

Well, the location is okay, directly at the Main Street in Koror, with small shops, a shopping mall and food stores nearby. The Staff was very friendly & accommodating and the airport pickup service worked perfectly. The hotel itself is a bit dated, whilst the simple equipped Oceanview Room is spacious enough for two, but I doubt the ocean can be seen nicely on the lower floors. Overall it depends what are your expectations, if you are looking for a hotel to sleep, have breakfast and spend all day outside for diving, snorkeling, excursions, the hotel may be okay, but it’s a bit pricy for what you get. But if you are looking for a place to spend your day for relaxing & chilling at the pool / beach, it is definitely not the right place.

I was pleasantly surprised. The staff were very helpful and friendly. I was greeted by name everytime I walked through the door. The hotel appears to have been recently renovated. Everything is spotlessly clean and the lobby always smelled nice when you walked in. It is a short walk to restaurants, shops, ATM, etc. All the activities I did, offered pick up from the hotel. The staff were very helpful helping me find something to do for the 2 days I didn't have diving planned. Due to Covid, there was not many available options but the persevered and I had something to do every day. If you want a clean central location with exceptional staff to use as a base for activities you can't go wrong.

The staff and service have been fantastic here! From Snow who greeted us at 430 in the morning knowing we just needed to get to bed to Kelly and the staff in the restaurant at breakfast. All very friendly and accommodating! Rooms are not big but comfortable and clean. Our only suggestion would be to improve the lunch and supper menu- and food quality. After one night we headed out to eat following recommendations from trio advisor that were right on.

I really enjoyed my stay at Palau Royal Resort, which lasted for 6 nights as my return flight had to be postponed by 2 days. It was home away from home, and I cannot thank all the staff enough for their excellent service, welcoming smiles and wonderful help rendered throughout our stay. Our room was also cleaned up very well every single day, kudos to the lovely cleaning lady who always greeted us with a beaming smile when she came around to do her job. 10/10 would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a relaxing stay in Palau!
