My partner and I have been here three times already and love staying at Railey Great View because of peacefulness and relaxation. The location isn’t suitable for people have walk difficulty. You need to walk around 15 minutes from the pier and around 25 mins to the beach. It js not the hotel’s fault :) we booked because we like staying here.

A unique chance to live in the rainforest, the room was large, shower / bathroom was massive. Nice views, staff were friendly, rooms are traditional Thai / rustic Good value for money. Breakfast was sufficient. Short walk to the town centre.

Thoroughly enjoyed staying here. The location was brilliant and very conveniently located. The beach was close by and there were direct seas views. The room was really comfortable with a private terrace. The swimming pool was perfect - especially in the evenings.

You will arrive by long tail boat on the pier of the hotel or on one of the 2 beaches where you will be immediately met by hotel staff to help you with your luggage. The moment you set foot here, you will understand that you've made the right choice as long as you want the following. - An original stay in a jungle hut (with AC ofcourse) - A tucked away spot of Railay - Amazing food! - A chilled overall vibe - Easy going monkeys and squirels - Lush jungle environment You will have made the wrong choice if you want luxury, clubbing, staying right on Railay West Beach or partying etc. The rooms are lovely and feel like a jungle nest with large bathrooms and great views of the trees and flora. At breakfast time, you will see the fauna with some friendly monkeys and very large squirls visiting for a banana or two. The food here is outstanding and surely the best we found on Railay in the 4 days we stayed here. The pool is large and breezy, providing ample shade from the tree canopy. Enjoy it with a cold fresh coconut. The only negative is the hike to your room and the noise from the hundreds of passing long tail boats. At times it became particularly noisy. The property is built on a hill, and as such, getting to your room may require a short hike. Railay beach is about a 15 minute walk. Overall, I recommend this place and would visit again.

Where do i start. First i received no communication from the resort about how to get there. The Ferry dropped us off at Railay beach and i presumed we could get a tuk tuk from the road. Spoiler alert, they aren’t roads, they’re walking tracks. Yay a 2km walk with my suitcase on a beach side walking track. I get to my room (which is pretty, but old) and yay, mosquitoes all through the room because the sliding glass doors don’t seal properly. Thankfully there is a mosquito net over the bed, unfortunately it’s full of holes. The steps to the room was steep and i fell down then within 2 minutes of being there. Thankfully every step on the way down and the concrete broke my fall. My body was in so much pain. The ear plugs they supply you don’t drown out the noise of the constant long tail boats every day and night. The curtains do not block out light so be prepared to wake up with the sun. The blind in my bathroom was broken and falling off the bracket, multiple light switches didn’t work and neither did the exhaust fan in the bathroom. My friend found leeches in his room and then woke up to find some animal had somehow got in and shredded all his toilet paper. The pool is lovely and the view is pretty. But you’re surrounded by trees so the view is obscured and you won’t want to swim in the beach with the sewage and water pipes running from the resort to the beach. To top it all off i was charged double what my best friend was and the hotel didn’t care at all. Thankfully, as we left on their ferry to the Ao Nammo pier i thought “the ordeal is over” but no, hello water intake on the boat. We’re spared the Krabi edition of Titanic and get to the pier to discover they drop you off at some random side pier away from the main pier and the taxi services. If you really want to go to Railay Beach stay at any of the other resorts there and not this awful place. Had i not been charged more per night than all the 5 stars hotels i stayed in on a trip through Cambodia, Vietnam and Thailand i may have given this hotel 3 stars. But everything added up to an avoid. Most of the staff were lovely and the food was nice, but the food was nice everywhere in railay

According to Google the Railay Great View is a 3 star Hotel which means it should offer a broad range of amenities and the service & design are of good quality. In this regard the hotel by exceeded my expectations hense the 5 star review. Knowing Railay is famous for its bars & parties I wanted somewhere far enough from the action to be sheltered from it and near enough for my 21 year old to get there at night himself. Also on the wish list was a pool, some character, Wi-Fi and ideally a nice veranda, again I came up trumps with the Railay Great view. Accessible from Railay West pier by traditional long tail boat or a 15 minute walk on a paved trail (just about manageable with a stroller). The resort is located on a steep rocky incline which means it’s definitely unsuitable for anyone with mobility issues or high blood pressure…that said once the effort is made to climb to your room through the jungle foliage the reward is worth it with stunning chalets, decorated in a traditional red woods style but complete with room service, stocked minibars (no alcohol), boiling hot rainwater showers, air con, tea & coffee making and generous verandas. The trees are filled with monkeys and the grounds full of lizards and orchids. There are two small private beaches at the resort but both could do with some TLC from the litter fairies and perhaps a deck chair or two, but the pool is spotless with picturesque views of West Railay beach through the trees. There were no other children at the resort & no bar (the restaurant served alcohol but closed at 9pm) so expect a quiet but idyllic atmosphere. We paid just under €60 per room per night including breakfast so great value too. In conclusion while my feelings on the Railay area are mixed I would return in a heartbeat if only to stay at this resort again. #Tip: if booking request room 1, 2, 3 or 4, these are in the best location and are being renovated at the moment so are likely to have the wow factor when finished, failing this challet 32 & 33 are accessible without climbing steps.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS! Rude staff, rude management, zero compassion or empathy. I injured myself on day 2 so asked to check out early to stay somewhere more central and they refused saying it was non refundable and they had already charged my card which they never told me they were going to do. I gave my card details as security thinking I would pay here but apparently that's not the case and they don't tell you that. The rooms are dated, the doors don't even lock properly. Bugs get into your rooms through gaps in the doors. It's so far from anything - don't think you can just pop to a shop or a restaurant or into town as it's a long walk. They charge extortionate amounts for food, massages and laundry here so you would want to go into town for these things but it's a mission. Honestly it's not worth it at all. The Aircon is rubbish, it's so noisy due to the long tail board passing and doors / windows that don't isolate the sound in the slightest. It's not peaceful here despite being surrounded by nature which is the only good part but the rest of it means it's just not worth it at sll. So do yourself a favour - take a look at all the bad reviews on all the websites and you'll see I'm not alone in thinking this. Stay closer to town or stay in a better quality place elsewhere if you're not fussed about being close to railay town and beach. I have travelled extensively and I work in the hotel industry so I am talking from a lot of experience here. Don't make the mistake of staying here, save yourself the stress from this horrible place!

The hotel is located in a quiet, furthest corner of Railay East. It can be reached on foot along the concrete promenade or the hotel has a free longtail transfer from Ao Nammao Pier. The hotel overlooks two bays at once. Beauty, silence and absolute nature. The bungalows are located on the slopes. Almost everyone has a sea view. Our room 33 was listed as a partial view, but in fact almost the entire view from the veranda and bathroom was of the sea. Better perhaps only in room 32. :-) The rooms are large, spacious with everything you need, from a kettle and hairdryer, to umbrellas, a beach bag and rugs. The bathroom has a large panoramic window. You can shower for hours. :-) a nice canopy bed from midges, which is here. Clean clean, change all towels and beach and room, regularly replenish water, coffee and tea. The territory is large and well-groomed. There is a nice clean pool with jacuzzi. Breakfast buffet with a large selection of everything and a daily replacement of the main course. I would give 10 out of 10 if not for a couple of minor nuances. The hotel has its own beaches, but they are not suitable for swimming. it's too far from center. In the room, the roof was leaking from the side of the bathroom. Soundproofing is a problem. Our room overlooked the bay at Ao Nammao Pier, and there is a busy longtail traffic from early morning until late evening.

We’ve visited Railay more times than I can count and I’ve always wanted to stay here. I finally convinced my husband to split our 3 week stay between sand sea and this resort. Positives 1.beautiful location in the jungle 2. Free boat to Ao Nammo 3. Reasonable sized rooms all with partial sea view. 4. lovely pool. Negatives 1. 20 min walk to Railay which is absolutely fine if you don’t have a toddler in the heat. 2. Breakfast is abysmal. Very little selection, only open for 2 hours and the they never restock items when they runout. 3. The air conditioning is nonexistent! The units themselves are underpowered and work as little more than a fan. We left our previous hotel as the air con wasn’t working. We even checked with the staff before booking how cold the rooms got (turned out to be a blatant lie). Took two days to change rooms and there was zero difference. Getting a fan to supplement was almost impossible. All in all it’s fine but there are nicer locations for a better rate

While the environment is great, with beautiful cottages on stilts, and big windows that lets the jungle into the room. The staff ruined our stay with their nonchalant and negative attitude. We got the feeling that they rather not have any guests. They arranged a day trip for our family informing us that there would be food, but there were none which is quite a big deal with small children and when we told them they refused to accept any responsibility.

This is a beautiful resort on the farthest edge of East Railay, nestled in the jungle and hillside. Due to it's location the property has some quirks (uneven or level walkways, lots and lots of stairs), but also due to the location you truly feel like you are in a little jungle oasis with stunning surroundings and monkeys swinging through the trees and spending time by the pool. We stayed in a Grand Deluxe Partial Sea View room and it was lovely. The room was spacious, had really lovely Thai style and decor, a fabulous bathroom and a really large balcony with a great view. Again, the room had some quirks, the bathroom ceiling leaked during heavy rain storms, and there were some holes in the mosquito net, but we didn't find any of these things to be a major problem, and found the room to be really comfortable. The infinity pool at the property is stunning, again with great views of East Railay (they really aren't kidding with the name of the resort). The best part of the pool was being able to watch the local monkeys swing by and stop to just hang out in all of the trees that surround the pool area. The Staff at Great View Resort were super friendly and always extremely helpful. Whenever we needed anything or had any issues in the room, the staff would immediately respond and resolve the issue. The resort has a long tail boat that does regular trips between the pier at Ao Nang and the resort to pick up and drop off guests which was helpful for check in/out. The property is the very last accommodation in East Railay, so it is a little bit of a walk along a well lit pathway to get to the restaurants and shops of Railay. That being said, to get all the way to the main beach in Railay West only took probably 15-20 minutes, and there were tons of food and drink options along the walk. We would highly recommend The Heart Restaurant in East Railay for fresh BBQ seafood and Thai food. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Great View Resort and would highly recommend it to anyone looking to avoid some of the Railay crowds and have a more natural and beautiful resort stay.
