Taj Kumarakom Resort and Spa Kerala

Away from the city yet easily accessible, it was a good decision to choose taj kumarakom to unwind. Staff are extremely warm and helpful, going out of the way to accommodate our last minute requests. Room is clean and comfortable. Plus point being it's pet friendly . The restaurant also offers a good variety but we chose to eat local food and loved it. There was also a live dance performance in the evening while we were staying. The hotel's vintage charm with the traditional architecture with modern comforts alongside the serene backwaters was just the break i was looking for.

A short trip from Munnar brought us to Kumarakom. Having stayed in a few properties in the past, the expectations were set high! The stay was good, some great spots of enjoyment, some definitive spots for betterment and some sore episodes (nothing to do with Taj ethos). I felt the reception is small and non-noticeable and so was the usual warmth on arrival. That was soon forgotten when Gayatri brought on Priya to the fore. She did explain the shortcomings that come alongwith a govt owned property being leased by Taj. The restaurant was great and the high tea is quite refreshing. Our group of six adults, have great tastebuds sans anything that borders above LESS SPICEY… Great challenge for the team, till Subin Meccheri, hand crafted the best items of our stay - Ulli theeyal and Cabbage Thoran.. Out of the world and dot on “ Low spice”. Heaven on earth! Vin Pugal, a known face of our 2022-stay at Kovalam made our last day stay comfortable and allowed us to overstay for a couple more hours . Exit of one of our team leaving early on the last day to catch his flight to San Francisco had to literally witness and be a mute spectator to the Union-activism that compelled him to use the local cab to Airport, priced 50% more than the app-operators… a lesson learnt, though not a reflection of the nice stay in Taj. Having stayed in Taj resorts at Kovalam, Madikeri, Goa, Maldives, I feel Taj Kumarakom has many spots to betterment, especially house keeping, room service and the general upkeep.

'Wow' and 'Amazing' are inadequate to describe our stay at Taj Kumarkom. Our first point of contact was Priya at the reception - super-helpful and very positive, all our requirements were taken care of in a jiffy…. and with a smile! The property is stunningly beautiful with lots of greenery and canals, the Vembanad Lake and the sound of chirping birds. We stayed in a lagoon facing, well equipped cottage with a private sit-out area and a fantastic view. The room was very comfortable, but I feel the bathroom area could have been better, considering Taj standards. Housekeeping kept the room neat and clean and here I wish to appreciate the efforts of Murugan, amongst others. The 2 restaurants here - Currymeen and Vembanad Bistro serve delicious food and have lots of options. Breakfast was excellent and we were spoilt for choice! Evenings saw us having tea/coffee and snacks at the lake side "Chaya Kada". It was always a pleasure chatting with restaurant manager Vipin and getting tips on local areas of interest/ shopping. Neiki, Amal, Suresh and all the restaurant staff were a pleasure to deal with! We all enjoyed our contact with Accommodation Mgr. Mr Vinpugal, be it for kite flying, taking photos or just chatting. My wife and daughter had a relaxing time at the spa. The property has a good pool and well equipped gym, with the ever helpful Vishnu always on hand. Good guy! Another good experience was the houseboat cruise on the lake/backwaters with delicious lunch and tea thrown in. Thanks to Priya for arranging the same. And last but not the least, we really enjoyed our interactions with the genial GM of the hotel, Mayank Mittal. Jovial & super friendly, he was often on hand, be it for recommending some dish on the menu, suggesting nearby places for visiting or just sharing some light-hearted banter and laughter. A perfect resort to relax and unwind!

A lovely small boutique hotel for a laid back short holiday. The staff are wonderful, the manager (forget his name) extremely warm and welcoming. The spa was lovely and I went to sleep which I having a wonderful foot massage. Breakfast was outstanding.

Wonderful booking support from Gayathri and shine. Awesome detaling of proprty by Vinaya and she took care of us at arrival to departure. Pradeep did a wonderful house keeping service, shaju with warmth buggy drive throught the property. Entire dining experience right from Breakfast to dinner and all the crew right from chef to service team really top notch. Especially one chetan who gave surprise by bringing a cake to celebrate my daughters birthday special thanks to him.

The experience was ethereal. The hospitality splendid. The property is full of greenery and has many water bodies - the lagoons and the wembanad lake. The room is of good size for 3 people. The bed was sufficient to accommodate three persons. The wash area super clean and had all forest essential toiletries. The buffet breakfast had all the cuisines, the South Indian ( dosa, vada, idli, uthappam), North Indian (parathas), omelette, breads and cake, croissants, juices, tea and coffee. The taste was good. Enjoyed it. Overall a pleasant experience.
