The location is superb, right next to Kennin-ji Temple and within walking distance of Gion and Kiyomizu-dera Temple. The room was a bit small, but it was clean and tidy. Guests can help themselves to amenities like combs and toothbrushes from the entrance area. On the ground floor, there's also a microwave and washing machine, which were very convenient to use.

Guys, staying at Suzunari Gion Kennin-ji Hotel truly made me feel like I'd stepped back in time into an ancient Kyoto noble's home! The hotel's style is incredibly atmospheric, with its traditional wooden structures and tatami rooms; every corner absolutely oozes classic Japanese charm. I couldn't help but flop right onto the tatami mat as soon as I entered the room – it was so incredibly comfortable! And the location is absolutely unbeatable – Kennin-ji Temple is literally right outside your door, and you might even be lucky enough to spot a beautiful geisha! The hotel staff speak Chinese, and their hospitality was incredibly warm – I felt like a celebrity being looked after. Oh, and the hotel's shampoo smells amazing! Seriously, if you're coming to Kyoto and don't stay here, you're really missing out!

Perfectly located at the foot of main tourist paths and close to a 7/11 and a metro station. Very comfortable and clean hotel- well organized and quaint.

The hotel was spotlessly clean. Its location near Gion-Shijo Exit 1 is very convenient. However, please note that Exit 1 is quite a walk from the actual subway platform, and there's no elevator, which might be a concern if you're traveling with heavy luggage. Overall, it's a charming, traditional Japanese-style house, fully equipped with all the amenities you could need, offering excellent value for money.

The room was very clean.

Tiny bed and no window, plus they charge for laundry. This felt more like a short-stay room; check-in is at 4 PM and check-out is strictly by 10 AM the next day, which is quite demanding. The air conditioning was terrible and extremely noisy, constantly waking me up at night. I barely got any sleep.

The environment is great and very clean. The rooms are cozy, the service is excellent, it's quiet, and conveniently located.

I was quite disappointed, especially given the 1,000-a-night price tag. The photos made it look incredibly rustic, giving the impression of a sprawling, temple-like hotel with elegant corridors. In reality, only the entrance truly impressed. The rooms themselves were pretty standard in all aspects, and our double room was quite small.

Superb location in Kyoto's old town. The rooms were compact but very cozy and quiet. We arrived after hours at night and collected the key from a lockbox. All in all, everything was great.

Excellent little hotel in a quiet area of Kyoto but within walking distance of either places to visit or the metro. Room was small but comfortable, staff were friendly. We will use again when we return to Kyoto
