The off-season hotel prices in Kyoto are incredibly reassuring. I even booked on the day of check-in, and it was only 460 for three nights. I figured it might be even cheaper if I booked after 6 PM, but I wanted to secure my room early, so I didn't try. Platforms like Agoda might be a bit cheaper, but I still chose Ctrip because their service gives me more peace of mind, and dealing with disputes on foreign platforms can be difficult. Since I was on a solo trip, I booked a single room. The environment is typical for a budget hotel, and the room size was generally sufficient. My 20-inch suitcase fit fine at the foot of the bed, but a larger suitcase might be a bit challenging. Basic hygiene was guaranteed. Rooms are cleaned every three days, so no one came to clean during my stay. The best part is the location. Shijo makes it incredibly convenient to get anywhere, and there are two large supermarkets right across the street for easy shopping. There's no bottled water in the room, and the fridge only has a freezer compartment. Slippers and toothbrushes can be picked up on the first floor. Early check-in is possible (if the room is ready). The staff were very friendly.

I originally thought Japanese hotels would be small, but this twin room was much larger than I expected. It's very close to the subway station, making it convenient to get anywhere, and there are many buses right outside that go to various attractions. There are also plenty of restaurants nearby on the ground floor. The front desk staff were very enthusiastic, and there was one young man who spoke Chinese exceptionally well. He provided service with a constant smile and quickly helped resolve any issues. They also offer the Airporter luggage delivery service here; the front desk staff meticulously recorded the order number and coordinated with the luggage delivery personnel.

The location may not be top-notch, but it's walkable to the train station in the central area. Great service staff. Clean, big enough to open my 28-inch luggage. Recommended! 👍

At this price, what more could you ask for? For budget travelers, Smile Hotel is usually the go-to. It's small but has everything you need. It's really close to many of the main exhibitions for the Kyoto Photography Festival. You can take a bus to get to the Kamo River and the busier areas. There's a FamilyMart downstairs and two big supermarkets right across the street.

【Transportation】Walking distance from the subway station, it's the most cost-effective route from Kansai Airport to Kyoto. There's also a bus stop right outside, which is incredibly convenient for Kyoto. 【Environment】If you don't have high expectations for accommodation and plan to be out exploring all day, this place is definitely sufficient. It has all the basic facilities, and there are two supermarkets right across the street – a smaller one that accepts UnionPay and a Life supermarket that only takes cash.

This was a truly satisfying hotel experience. I doubt I could find a hotel this good at this price point easily. The staff were incredibly friendly, which was a huge plus. The room was clean, and the bed was wonderfully soft and comfortable. There was also plenty of space to open my suitcase without any issues. The hotel's location was great, with many restaurants nearby and two supermarkets right around the corner, plus a convenience store. It was perfect for grabbing late-night snacks or drinks. However, if you're planning to walk back and forth to areas like Kawaramachi or Sanjo, it might be a bit of a stretch. I would definitely want to stay here again, even if the price remained the same or increased slightly.

Everything is prefect. Just wifi connection is not very good . I couldn’t use both devices to get connection.

it's near to all the establishments. and the room was clean. we're 3 families and I booked 1 room with a 2 bed and we rested well.

The room was a bit small, but the location and service were great.

The room is quite spacious, allowing me to open a 24-inch suitcase. There are two supermarkets downstairs that stay open late, making it very convenient for shopping. Multiple bus stops nearby offer easy access to anywhere you want to go. There's a direct subway line to Osaka, and getting to Arashiyama is also convenient, taking less than 30 minutes.

The room isn't small and the location is excellent, making it really convenient for getting around and dining. We stayed for two nights and opted out of housekeeping, but the hotel thoughtfully hung fresh towels on our door, which was a very nice touch.

abit of a walk, but mega shopping district nearby (10-15min walk), room could be a little cleaner (shower drain looked kinda rusty and yellow), but otherwise okay.

We have stayed at this hotel several times and it has always been a great choice. The location is excellent, with easy access to transportation, shopping areas, and many restaurants nearby. One of the best things about this hotel is the reasonable price compared to the quality and convenience it offers. The rooms are clean and comfortable, making every stay relaxing and enjoyable. The staff are also friendly and helpful. Because of the great value and convenient location, I continue to choose this hotel whenever I visit the area and would happily recommend it to others.
