This is not your typical hotel. They do offer good pricing all year round. In the winter, if you want to escape the hockey teams and higher pricing because of hockey tourneys, this is an excellent alternative. Just keep in mind a few things. There are 3 types of rooms. You can have a room to yourself and have it hostel style - shared washrooms, showers, kitchen, common areas. You can have a room with a powder room. You can have a room with an ensuite. There are also suites with a full bathroom and a kitchenette. Prices increase with each type of room. The hotel part of the building and grounds is in the back. You need to drive past a couple of parking lots and businesses. Signage and lightning needs to be improved. Small reception area on the 2nd floor where the hotel is. Everything is basic so do not expect a lot. Rooms and common areas are relatively clean. Rooms are not huge but adequately sized. Curtains are thin and do not have any black out curtains. You have a 19 inch TV however, there is a decent channel selection. You're better off in the lounge area with a big screen HD TV. The heating and cooling unit in each rooms is not temperature controlled. It's either on or off with different fan speeds (this is an inconvenience). The entire place is fairly quiet - you won't get any noise from traffic, cars as the hotel is tucked away in the back part of the property. Hotel is centrally located close to the university, hospital and downtown (all within 5-15 minute drive). You will have to drive off-site to get something to eat as there is nothing on premises. The 7-11 gas station store is a 6 minute drive away if you need gas, snacks, drinks. Would I stay here again? If there are hockey tournaments, lack of hotel availability, expensive hotel rates - yes. Just keep in mind you are getting basic accommodations at a reasonably price - all year round.
