We arrived at the hotel and were unable to get in as it seems to have nothing to do with the adjoining pub. Someone kindly let us in as they were leaving. There was no-one on the scruffy and empty reception desk, no sign of any staff at all and there was no instruction as to how we would find a room. We eventually called the phone number on our booking, getting through eventually and were sent some codes to allow us into our room. Communal areas and stairs were not decorated with threadbare carpet. Our allocated room didn't lock so after another phone call the manager persuaded one of his friends to come and show us to a different room as there seemed to be no actual staff in the building. Outside our new room was a door that led onto the roof - this was hanging off its hinges and did not appear to close. Our tiny room had paper thin walls, had no table, chair or kettle, just a bed and a very battered looking bedside cabinet. We did, though, have a small fridge and a microwave on the floor!! The curtains were also partly hanging off the rail. Fortunately we only stayed for one night so didn't make use of the very scruffy looking shower or the TV, although I can assure you that the TV in the room next door worked very well We paid just over £100 for this room for the night and so obviously didn't expect luxury, we chose because of it's convenient location to a venue we were attending for a gig, however, I can honestly say that this is the worst hotel I have ever been to. The poor state of the building would seem to indicate an owner with little interest in the hotel or the guests I would like to also point out that the good reviews on this site are for the Pub and restaurant next door not this hotel and so create a misleading picture
