Apokryfo Traditional Guesthouse

We were seeking a peaceful and tranquil place and found it at the beautiful Apokryfo hotel village. Very charming staff, always smiling and professional in all their duties. It was so heartwarming to see, how everyone tried to do their very best to make our stay unforgettable. We had dinner three times at the hotel and were stunned about the freshness and creativity of the food that the owner and chef Eleftheria created for us. A problem with the water pipe in our house was solved to our utmost satisfaction. Eleftheria and her team showed greatest effort - we were deeply impressed. The serenity, the tastefully decorated houses, not to mention the friendlyness of the staff made it very hard for us to leave. Thanks again for this wounderful experience!

Lovely traditional rustic guesthouse in the very scenic and historical village of Lofou. Christos looked after us very well during our stay and the massage by Lucas in the Spa was a real treat. Unfortunately, our Dinner dining experience was not great due to cold main courses having to be returned and not really improved when we finally received them back again. Also, on returning to our bedroom after Dinner, we had two cockroaches in our bathtub that we had to get rid of ourselves. Besides these issues, we would recommend Apokryfo as a great get-away-from-it-all location.

A stunning hotel with charming staff and amazing food above the village of Lofou. The food really can’t be beaten and we tried ! The rooms are gorgeous, all local stone and exposed beams with hidden courtyards everywhere across a clever complex of individual houses that is not unlike the village below. Sauna, steam room, massages and a lovely dipping pool, all,welcome after a day exploring the nearby villages or walking the mountain trails and waterfalls. To finish the day before an incredible meal (every night) are several secluded drinks spots to enjoy the sunset. Top notch.

Apokryfo is situated in a pretty stone built village that has been cleaned up principally for tourists (it has a resident population of 80, we were told that rises to 5,000 in the summer). This can make it a bit soulless. We stayed 4 nights in early September when it was empty and most of the restaurants were closed. You do have to travel a bit to find good restaurants - we found most of the good ones to be fish restaurants near the sea. The hotel restaurant serves just a set menu - which is limited but lovely. Apokryfo sets itself up as having a sophistication which is sadly not commensurate with the rather languid and weirdly unintelligent service (ie sweeping while we were eating so a cloud of dust settled on our breakfast.). It feels a bit cramped and slightly worn - maybe it was the end of the season and the staff were as tired as the herbs in their dirty vases. We stayed in 'Sterna' - which looked pretty in every picture except I doubt if the owner/designer had ever actually stayed there as there is literally nowhere to put any clothes other than two wardrobes that were crammed with spare duvets. We didn't dislike the place but just felt that it was rather expensive for what it was, that the staff needed some training in guest engagement, that it was resting on its laurels and now needed a bit of tlc to take it forward.

We really enjoyed our weekend away. This is the perfect spot to have a break from city life, work, routine and really relax at any time of the year. It’s so close to Limassol which is fab as super easy to get to, yet you are in a different world. The drive up there is also very scenic. We stayed in the Schoolmasters house which is huge. Stunning decoration and even has a little cabinet full of books to flick through. The kitchen is a dream for those who like cooking. There is a fire place and the beds are super comfy. I would definitely recommend to do the amazing nature trial which there. Its 10km I think and half if a beautiful downhill walk in greenery and the second half is winding your way back on a main road but it’s stunning. We even took our 3 year old!! The food is lovely and service very friendly. Go! You won’t regret it.

You must visit this place! You owe it to yourself! Stop work today. Book a flight to Cyprus and get yourself to Apokryfo! This is a magical place to totally chill out. No stress. No worries. The rooms are romantic. You can eat great Cypriot food under the stars. There’s a beautiful little pool surrounded by rosemary herbs and the views of the mountains are unbelievable. For breakfast you must eat the Olive bread, it’s beyond amazing! The staff here are so friendly and welcoming. There’s such a good atmosphere here. Remember, stop stressing, Book your room at Apokryfo and come and chillax in a beautiful Cypriot mountain village!
