We stayed in apartment Esperanza behind the hotel. Which is accessible by two flights of stairs going down. And then up a few steps to the apartment. There is no ramp. We were a family of 4 with children aged 3 and 1 and 2 grandparents. We thought the apartment would be a good option as our youngest still uses bottles which require sterilising. Sadly, the kitchen has no tea towels or oven gloves. And was missing a kettle which we had to ask for. Although being attached to the hotel, the apartment is not serviced. There is also one bin for the whole apartment and no sanitary bin in the bathroom. The washing machine is not a washer/dryer so although usable, it is difficult to dry clothes as there is no clothes horse. The toilet smells of damp as there is no ventilation and no ventilation in the shower room. The double room is located behind the twin room so the air con does not reach that room. We therefore had to request a fan. There is also no hairdryer in the apartment, as the hotel was full there were no spares to borrow from reception. Although the apartment gives you access to the hotel swimming pool, there are not enough towels provided. reception were unable to provide extra towels as housekeeping had gone home. And I quote Thomas “the apartment is like an Airbnb” all Airbnb’s I have stayed in have provided these small necessities. This was very disappointing as we had young children which was explained to the receptionist. Lastly, there are a lot of flies and we were bitten a few times, the front door to the apartment could do with the fly screen as could the windows. If these issues could have been rectified I think our stay would have been more enjoyable.

We could not of enjoyed our stay at the hotel solitude any more than we did. From the minute we walked in to a fabulous reception area only to be greeted Amazing staff . And to top it all got to a superb room with balcony fiews thamk you all at hotel Solitude

Visit with the family in pilgrimage. We had the separate apartment in the hotel. It was not services, which hadn’t been explained to us. Large apartment though, which was clean if a little rough around the edges. The balcony right by the river was beautiful. The hotel itself was clean and lovely in parts, especially the restaurant and reception/lounge/bar. We had all inclusive. The food was varied and wholesome. The staff were friendly and keen to help. The small pool at the top was fun for the kids. The cleanliness of this wasn’t to the standard of the rest of the hotel. The views were gorgeous. The pool was quite deep and smaller children needed held. And the water was extremely cold.

Arrived here on a 5 day pilgrimage with JWT Ireland. Paid the single room supplement of €35 per night making the trip full board over €1100. The room(124) is pokey and dark, the lighting is also bad, the view is a dirty wall, The bathroom is a health & Safety hazard with little or no clearance between the shower and the toilet,(see picture below)The Shower itself is so small you literally could not "swing a cat in it" Imagine an 80 year old trying to get in and out of this shower! The food for all meals is buffet style, however, there is little choice with , numerous repeat items between lunch and dinner. The meat selection is extremely poor, chicken for instance is ONLY leg and thigh, no breast, pork appears regularly with a number of recycled fish dishes, if you like salad you can have it for breakfast, dinner and tea! Deserts are "mini style " with the same selection each day! €1100 (including flights) is extremely expensive for the standard of accommodation and food on offer. I took the liberty if checking with other pilgrims and most had the same view, accommodation was sub standard and the food if awful. I suggest tour operators consider negotiating better standards for pilgrims, 90% of pilgrims are Irish at this Hotel during our stay and yet not one traditional dish on offer.

I have stayed here over 5 times on pilgrimage with my local diocese. I have to say my best memory of Lourdes along with the obvious is the care, understanding and level of service provided by those in La Solitude. We have a choice of 3-4 hotels each pilgrimage and we always come back. In October of this year I requested a balcony room, although I had to pay, which was totally okay, it was just beautiful. As a pregnant person, I asked for a later checkout which was granted free of charge which I am so grateful for. The service of those in reception, the bar, dining rooms and the housekeeping is second to none. They are most polite and helpful, and I cannot wait to return again in October 2025. Thank you all for all you do. I appreciate you are paid to work there, but kindness costs no money, and we really appreciate just how lovely you are. Along with the hotel facilities, it is the staff here who always make our trips so much better. A home away from home!

We stayed only one night, but we had first class service from arrival to departure. The hotel is located very close to the basilica and sanctuary. Breakfast buffet was spectacular. The highlight of our stay was at the end when we realized we left our passports in the room. Sergio the manager rushed to the airport and delivered our documents personally to avoid us missing our plane to Paris. Kudos to La Solitude for an exceptional customer service experience. We highly recommend La Solitude for a Lourdes visit.

I found the food had significantly reduced in quality & choice since last year. My room was very strangely configured, having to leave the toilet & cross the room to use the bidet & wash handbasin. The carpet was very very worn and faded. The staff in the dining room were excellent

We had a fantastic stay at The Solitude hotel. We were a small group of 11 and everyone loved the hotel. Staff were so friendly, room was gorgeous and the rooftop pool was an added bonus in 30 degree temperatures. Will definitely use this hotel again.

This hotel is not as advertised and certainly not a four star hotel. The hotel car park is down a very narrow lane, underground and not suitable for larger cars. They did provide parking in a near by hotel but charged us extra than advertised for the pleasure. The room we stayed in was very dated, the shower on the upper duplex is so small there is no way you could assist someone to shower. At 4.40 am the fire alarm went off, so we made our way down the stairs to the lobby with many other guests. The porter unfortunately spoke very little English and to be fair was doing his best, but the place was absolute chaos. No communication no direction and thankfully it was a false alarm. When checking out we expressed our disappointment and while we got an apology for the alarm going off, the attitude of the lady we dealt with was appalling. The hotel clearly has no structure in place had there been an actual emergency. Avoid this hotel !
