Evrything about this place was very good. Location, food, service, play areas for kids incl. pool. I am not giving a high mark for sleep quality because there were loud music playing all night coming from the city. We stayed there over the weekend and our room had closer proximity to the city than other rooms, so this can easily be avoided I am sure.

I stayed three nights at Lawns Hotel and had a wonderful time. The food is amazing. The staff was friendly and helpful, especially the manager. And there is plenty to do in and around lushoto. I went on a nice hike to the Kisasa waterfall. But if hiking is not your thing you can also just relaxe at the hotel in the pool or on the terrace.

What a beautiful place! Perfect to relax after a few days safari. Swimming pool, lovely bar and games room, delicous food and the hotel offers some nice activities during your stay. We chose the hike to Carters peak and see the Kisasa Waterfalls. We were not dissapointed! 5 stars for the staff 5 stars for the rooms 5 stars for the food 5 stars for the extra activity 5 stars for the gintonics :-) We will be back! Thank you. Asante sana.

We had the pleasure of spending four nights at this beautiful hotel located in the wonderfully picturesque Usambara mountains. The hotel is located a ten minute walk from the town of Lushoto. From the moment we arrived we were made feel very welcome and Alex and his staff couldn’t have done more for us. Each member of staff deserves to be recognised for their friendliness and service - they were absolutely excellent. Alex even arranged for some of our luggage that we had left behind at a hotel in Arusha to be bussed to Lushoto. He handled all the communication with the previous hotel and had the items back for us within 2 days! The rooms are a good size and the beds were very comfortable. The en-suites were clean, with hot water always available and the rooms were serviced daily. The hotel boasts a variety of facilities including a swimming pool, restaurant, games room, bar, a delightful terrace and parking. At nighttime while we were there they lit fires which gave a very cozy feel to the atmosphere. The buffet breakfast each morning was a mixture of fruit, cereals, pancakes and the whatever way you liked your eggs - always delicious. Fresh organic coffee too! We had dinner there twice and the food was very enjoyable. We truly enjoyed our time at The Lawns and look forward to returning some day - in the meantime we would like to offer a huge thanks to Alex and all the staff for making our stay so enjoyable!

The place is very nice and confortable. the entire staff is really professionnal and helping. all the journey there was pleasant. We were there for hiking and you can go for it from the hotel what was really appreciate. Don't hesitate to book at Lawns hotel, best value we did in Tanzania. The only thing we missed : wifi in our room.

The Lawh hotel is very nice situated. Nice garden. But 1. On the reception, the man was very unwelcoming and did not understand what we say 2. In the restaurant, it needs a lot of time before we get some food, even we had hours before said what we would eat 3. the bathroom is very dangerous. In the bathroom there is a step. Every time we come in or out, we felt over that step, because wenn we washed our hands it was up, when we would dry our hands it was down. I had a severe fall, and still after 10 days my legs have a lot of pain... 4. The owner of Lawns Hotel and Shambaa ecotours is the same, on the same ground. Both dont work together... discuss with the tours that's included lunch, the hotel did know about this. It was after 1,5 that we knewed that both are differnet organisations. It gives a lot of misunderstanding

We enjoyed the ambience and the location of the hotel. It's very calm and green. It looks natural but classy. The reception was great and staff at the restaurant were amazing. We had a good time swimming at the pool. Would love to visit the place again!

Beautiful room (family room), garden and communal spaces with fireplace, games and books. Very good breakfast. We did a walking tour with Shamba Eco Tours (linked to the hotel), which was very interesting, with knowledgable guide Baraka. We heard a lot of noises from town at night, musique, mosque, so it was not as quiet as we hoped. And a bit expensive.

Lushoto is a green oasis an lies in the north of Tanzania above 1000 meters and definitively worthwhile visiting if you like mountains, forests and hiking. We stayed for 2 days and did a fantastic 5 hour hike with a local guide to a rainforest arranged through Lawns hotel, passing local markets, trees used for medicins and enjoyed a marvelous lunch at a viewpoint. The Lawns hotel itself is a hidden gem in mountain cabin style. The staff is friendly and offers great service. The rooms are spacious. Fun-fact: the showers are heated with wood which work amazingly well. The hotel features a swimming pool, a bar with terras and a restaurant which serves excellent 3 course dinners in a room with a fireplace.

We really had a great experience in Lawns Hotel. We enjoyed the garden, the shared seats, and the food. The room was clean. Shamba eco tours is on the property of Lawns Hotel, and offers very good tours! We really enjoyed the Irente virewpoint, Kissasa waterfall, Magamba rainforest and Lushoto town tour. Our tour guide Baraka was the best we could wish! We did three day tours with him, hé has Lots of knowledge, could speak english very well and he made it a fun and great experience for us (taking not the standard big routes, but just the small and lovely walking paths).

I would give it 0 stars if I could. Our shower broke and water was shooting in the air, our room flooded and there was mud everywhere from the maintenance guy. They didn’t give us a new room, took ages to clean the room, didn’t offer a refund or complimentary drink while we waited. They also almost charged us 10x the room fee via the credit card machine and would have if I hadn’t noticed it. Very poor service.

We had the opportunity to stay at the Lawns Hotel for two separate nights on September 23, 2023, and September 26, 2023. The ambiance of the place was just as tranquil as we initially expected, and its proximity to the center of Lushoto (just a few minutes' drive) struck a perfect balance between convenience and a sense of isolation. The hotel itself offers cozy amenities that contributed to a comfortable and pleasant stay. However, beyond the positive aspects of the accommodations, we would like to highlight the exceptional hospitality extended to us by the owner, Alex. His warm welcome and attentive service were noteworthy. During our stay, we encountered a situation where our taxi driver failed to show up to take us to the bus station at 5:30 in the morning. In this challenging moment, Alex went above and beyond to ensure our well-being. He personally took care of us and arranged an alternative transportation method to ensure we reached the bus station safely and on time. This level of commitment and hospitality from Alex was truly appreciated and left a lasting impression. In reflecting on our experience at the Lawns Hotel, we are genuinely grateful for Alex's kindness and the exceptional service he provided during a challenging situation. It is instances like these that define the true character of a place and its owner. We sincerely appreciate the hospitality extended to us by Alex and the Lawns Hotel.

3 nights away from the heat and bustle of the plains, Lushoto town is unspoilt and no hassle for tourists, wonderful setting as is this old hotel as break away from “ normality “. The rooms are clean and comfortable, good hot showers and nice seating areas. The food basic but tasty and a nice variation each night. The pool is a lovely place to relax after hiking . A nice bar area with good selection of drinks and reasonable speed Wi-Fi . The staff are all friendly and helpful. Would happily stay here again if in the area.
