Relais & Chateaux Heritage Hotel

Madrid|0.17km dari Iglesia la Virgen Peregrina
The Heritage is a boutique hotel with 40-something rooms and the emphasis is very much on a personal service. It’s part of the Relais and Chateau group, a chain I’d always avoided in the past as I’d assumed it would be beyond my means. How fortunate I was this time to take a chance. All of the staff are unfailingly polite, friendly and helpful and I can honestly say I’ve never been so well looked after in a hotel before. Alicia and Dana checked me in, seamlessly, and I was offered a glass of Cava whilst this happened. I was then shown to my room - a Junior Suite - on the sixth floor, where the decoration could best be described as opulent. A huge bed, an antique desk and chair, two further chairs, flatscreen tv, Nespresso coffee machine, mini-bar, safe etc. Everything you’d expect in a high end hotel. Enough coat hangers as I was travelling solo but possibly not quite enough if two people had shared the room. But that’s a small gripe. The bathroom included a hydrotherapy bath, which I didn’t use, and the largest rain forest shower I’ve come across. Despite being on a busy road junction there was minimal traffic noise thanks to effective double glazing. Internally, I was disturbed only once by a slamming door. There will always be thoughtless travellers who let that happen but that’s not the fault of the hotel. The bed mattress was a little on the firm side for me. It must be a difficult issue for hotels of any level as it's often just down to personal taste. But this is a good example of the extraordinary service given by the Heritage. I happened to mention the mattress to Julian, the General Manger, who explained that because it was a public holiday in Madrid (the day before Good Friday) it meant he was unable to get hold of a replacement mattress for me. But he did despatch his head of housekeeping to a department store to buy a mattress topper which was then added to my bed. This was a big improvement and definitely above and and beyond what I was expecting. The hotel restaurant must also get a mention. It’s presided over by a two-star Michelin chef (the stars awarded for a restaurant elsewhere) and was a revelation. At dinner the flavours were outstanding. And from the same kitchen came a very good cooked breakfast each morning. It was my first visit to Madrid and I was there for a week over Easter. The city is as beautiful as everyone says and I saw some amazing art and enjoyed spectacular weather. But I also struck lucky in my choice of hotel. Special thanks to manager Leticia for trying to get me in to “the best” flamenco show in town. Alas, it was fully booked on the nights I was free. But then Alicia found somewhere else for me so all’s well that ends well!

Rosewood Villa Magna

Madrid|0.81km dari Iglesia la Virgen Peregrina
I need to make a last minute urgent change of hotel and decided on Rosewood Villa Magna. After a few email correspondence, I was able to book online and my helpful agent also add the Virtuoso amenities for me. Arrival My flight landed from Dubai and thanks to Emirates generous benefits, round trip airport transfer is included in my ticket as well. The driver dropped me at Villa Magna Rosewood. I was shown to the check-in desk upon arrival. My first impression was that the hotel was extremely busy and the reception lobby was very crowded. Nevertheless, after a short wait I was able to check-in. The reception apologised for not being able to upgrade me as the hotel was “very full” due to high occupancy. There’s a champion’s league football game just the day before. Afterwards, I did a quick check and the upgraded room ( ie Junior suite ) was actually available for booking online but I did not press the matter as it’s really just a small difference between my Grand Premier Room and the Junior Suite. A guest relationship manager by the name of Angel ( or is it Domenic? ) greeted me and showed me to my room. The Grand Premier Room. This room measures a spacious 45sqm. It has small windows with view facing the main street. The decoration is very art deco style. Unfortunately, it reminds me of Rosewood London which I had a bad experience. Nevertheless, all the amenities are there, including a small sitting area, a minibar, working desk, high definition TV that can be easily connected to an AppleTV. The bathroom has very strong water pressure, so it’s like showering under a waterfall. There’s also a bathtub. Toiletries comes in small little tubes which were very annoying because they keep toppling over. Should have placed them on the wall with bottles. Overall, I think the room is not as nice as I like. The black/white décor gave it a hospital feel, could have been more cheerful. I don’t like the small windows that makes the room feels claustrophobic. I do like the water pressure of the shower. Common Areas and Location I was surprised how the hotel was actually smaller that it seems. Before I selected the hotel, I preview their website and various youtube videos and got the impression that the hotel was quite big. It’s actually much smaller than I expected. Upon entering the hotel is the reception area and concierge desk. Right behind the reception area is the lounge area which connects to two restaurants, the Amos fine dining restaurant and the Brasserie, where I had my morning breakfast. In the basement is the spa and a small gym. And that’s it. It feels very boutique in that sense. My only experience with the hotel’s F&B is in-room dinning and morning breakfast. They are of decent quality. The coffee is good though. I also tried their small gym which is entirely self service. Whether the location of the hotel is good or not depends on what you want to do. For shopping, it’s quite good as right behind the hotel is the Serrano street

Really disappointed with the size of my bedroom and bed. I did not think that single beds were still offered at such well known hotels? . Views were horrible (interior staircases of the hotel) but that was expected as i booked the standard double room. Restaurant dinner experience was not acceptable. They did not have many options listed on the menu, they mistaken my order, the quality of the food was terrible. The octopus was hard. The vegetarian burger tasted like meet. Which is not great as if you order a vegetarian burger normally you dislike meat. Waiters were visibly stressed as they were clearly short of staff.

Fantástico y original hotel en pleno Barrio de Salamanca. Sin duda, repetiremos. Nos tocó la habitación Saura, preciosa, amplia y una cama comodísima.

Spent two nights at the hotel. It was a short holiday trip which we enjoyed very much and our stay at the NH Madrid Principe de Vergara was an important part of it, as we felt very confortable as a whole. However it is a pity that in general hotels tend lately not to provide a proper restaurant service for guests as honestly found that the bar/cafeteria service, does not really fit with the 4 star cathegory of the hotel, even though service was good.

Rooms very basic, our room had a broken sink with 3x cracks in it, but did have clean bed linen and towels, shwer was hot....aircon was good, kitchenette ok.? no kettle so used a pan. The male staff member that checked us in was rude and unhlpfull. Apparently all rooms in this place had.. ###” recently been refurbished??🤣🤣 ” ### poor soap dispensers 1 of which was broken😅😅....***. ” think green washing up liquid for soap ” **** and the cheapest of toilet roll.... We were here (all 128 of us for the Andre Rieu concert)....3x coaches..in total in this and the sister place/ hotel the Genova. My /our breakfast was poor and you had to go to reception for a ” ticket for breakfast 🤣 ” then leave the hotel and go to the tapas bar next door??....whats all that abou? Breakfast was €5 apparently...1xcoffee, 1 xjuice and 1x crossiont or 1x tostada😂 it was a joke really 😣😂😂....no bar in hotel? It was more like a hostel really...not God value for money...asvwe were within a group package it's difficult to work out costings for our stay 8th to 11th February 2022? Costs next week are approximately €67- €75 per night.....all in all not a happy person, would have not booked had we been coining independently. Would I stay here again/recommend? Not a hope in hell.
