While I have no reason to doubt some of the terrible reviews of this hotel that have recently appeared, our experience was quite positive. We booked a one-night stay at Frederick's as a convenient transfer point between our arrival on a flight from the continent and our departure out of Heathrow, the next day. We arrived later than expected, after a day of travel. We wished to have a cup of tea and pastry in the garden prior to unpacking. Although it was nearly dinner time, our request was cheerfully accepted. Our room was comfortable, clean and well-equipped. The hotel was quiet and a lovely breakfast was served the next morning. The restaurant is acceptable, although not excellent. Portions were generous and choices were varied. Like many restaurants around the UK and the US, as well as elsewhere, the pandemic has resulted in a shortage of workers, as people who might otherwise work as servers seek higher-paid jobs in other sectors. Our server was clearly overworked and prone to errors, but was apologetic about those errors. If you have a vehicle (we did not), it might make sense to seek other dining options nearby. We did not stay long enough to use the spa services. The grounds are beautifully landscaped and are lovely.

Went with 3 friends on a spa break for 1 night. Arrived and the staff on reception were friendly and welcoming. Three of us shared a room and it was very spacious and felt luxurious. We all had 60 minute spa treatments (either a facial or a massage) which were included as part of the package which were amazing. The outdoor jacuzzi pool was lovely to relax in overlooking the grounds. The changing rooms looked brand new. Showers had shampoo, conditioner and shower gel to use. Robes and towels plentiful. Dinner was 3 courses of delicious food in a lovely setting. Waiting staff attentive without being over bearing. The room was quite hot overnight but i tend to find this at all hotels. Breakfast in the morning was also delicious and served at the table rather than buffet style which I preferred. All in all amazing value break and I would definitely recommend. Thank you.
