Good places I love it

Wow, where to start! Having booked via Voyage Privé, with whom we had never travelled before, I was a little apprehensive but I needn’t have worried. From the moment we arrived at Male airport a member of the Kooddoo resort staff was on hand to welcome us. After very long flights, he told us we would be able to make the earlier domestic flight than had been arranged for us, and took us straight to the check in desk where he handled our check in seamlessly. He then escorted us to a lovely lounge where we had free refreshments whilst waiting just a short time for our domestic flight with Maldivian Airlines. For the Brits amongst you, we were highly amused that the light refreshments provided on board included a bar of Cadbury’s chocolate! On arrival at Kooddoo airport we were met by a lovely lady Emma, who transported us and our luggage to the Hotel via a buggy, a mere couple of minutes away. We were met in reception with cold towels and refreshments whilst our check in was quickly and efficiently processed. We were made to feel like royalty. As we had arrived earlier than expected, our room wasn’t ready but they stated they would expedite this and offered us an opportunity to use showers or relax at the pool bar. We chose the latter! When initially booking the holiday, we chose an overwater bungalow, but changed our minds having read a review about the fruit bats living in the trees around the beach bungalows. We are wildlife lovers, so chose this option instead and I am so glad we did. We felt like we had much more privacy as we were screened from our neighbours by dense vegetation and palm trees. With the lagoon only a few feet from our veranda, it really felt like we were on a desert island, and I was so pleased we hadn’t gone with the overwater option. Our bungalow was kept spotlessly clean by Chathura and Bawantha and most days we would return to beautiful ‘bedart’ created by the latter, a truly talented young man. We ate at both restaurants during our stay and the food at both was delicious, particularly at the Alita which had so much choice, and never felt ‘samey’. We went to the Vista for my partner’s birthday and the chef had very kindly made a cake which was incredibly tasty. I must make special mention of Laxaai and Ibrahim in the Alita and Joanne in Vista who were specifically attentive and nothing was too much trouble. We were worried that we might be bored but there was so much to do. Much of our time was spent snorkelling on the amazing house reef just outside the lagoon. However, we are both qualified divers so decided to do some diving too. We have dived all over the world and I can honestly say, Suvadivers at the resort, and Agus our dive leader in particular were the most professional we have ever come across. The attention to diver safety was better than I have ever come across at any dive centre, and pre-dive briefings by Agus were very thorough. He was also keen to make sure we saw as many ‘pelagics’ as possible a

My wife and I have recently returned from a 2 week vacation at the Mercure for my wife’s 60th birthday This was our first time to Maldives and this place didn’t disappoint, we stayed in a beach bungalow which was amazing the fact it was just meters away from our own piece of beach and straight into the amazing sea.(202) friendly staff made our stay memorable, the guys in the pool bar were always smiling and knew what you wanted to drink every time. A special shout out to JO-ANN and her team in the VISTA RESTAURANT (Kunal, Smith and chef Bipula this place made our vacation special what an amazing team and the food was super every time we ate there which was probably 80% of the time. Alcohol was good no expense spared. Snorkelling was amazing first time on the house reef we saw 2 large rays, sharks everywhere and our last day we had a turtle pop up 2meters away from us. The one and only issue for us was trying to get a hot drink at breakfast staff in there ignored us and most days we went without a hot drink with our breakfast, this was the same in the evening so we pretty much used the vista restaurant Try the pool bar for lunch I would definitely recommend and return to the Mercure in the future Thanks for a relaxing vacation

We have just got back from a glorious 2 weeks at this resort. We stayed in an over water bungalow which was perfect for our needs. The snorkelling was brilliant, we went daily and saw sharks, rays, turtles and literally hundreds of fish species. The resort was clean and well kept, towels and toiletries abundant. Our room was tended by Jabad who did awe inspiring towel, bed and bath art. The food was perfect for us, my husband loves Asian food so tried every curry whilst we were there, if that isn’t your taste there are plenty of other options which are all good quality. The chefs take a lot of pride in their work, we also went to the cooking demos to get tips to make them at home. The restaurant and pool bar staff really made the holiday, they are so attentive and friendly. Dharmika is the deputy manager and nothing is too much trouble. There are many to mention - Alisha, Shafi, Hassan, Ibrahim, Pradeep to name a few, but genuinely they are all so helpful and efficient in their roles it made our stay a dream. The managers are very visible and are very keen to receive feedback throughout your stay. We wouldn’t hesitate to return.

The tranquility massage was amazing. They were very professional and they have donne exactly what was asked. The oriental song was good and very relaxing. Thank you to the very professional ladies Thip and Ribhaka who have done a fantastic work.

We went for our honeymoon over the New Year period and throughly enjoyed our holiday. Would highly recommend flying in and arriving as early as you can in Malé on your arrival date and booking your return flight as late as you can on your departure date as you will maximise your stay on the resort as the domestic connecting flights only depart three times a day. That being said, the private airport lounge you stay in on arrival at Malé was very nice and included food as part of the transfer cost. We stayed in a sunset facing overwater villa and it was everything that we expected. We would literally wake up and dive into the ocean off your balcony - it was surreal! We needed to verify our marriage on arrival with a wedding certificate to get the honeymoon package so we didn’t receive it until the second day. Great array of activities to do and I even took my wife on a PADI introductory dive plus other dives once she’d completed it. We were there for the NYE party as well (which was a small additional fee as part of the booking fee) and it was unreal. Food was incredible, endless seafood, decorations were extravagant and the DJ was great and funny too. Food was awesome and enjoyed all the different cuisines. We also got 4 x activity vouchers as we were staying for 8 nights so also consider how long you are staying so you can maximise your activity benefits because there is so much to do! In addition to diving, we went on snorkel tours, jet ski rides, kayaking, SUP, yoga, and plenty of relaxing around the pool. The marine life around the reef surrounding the overwater villas was incredible and definitely a highlight - turtles, reef sharks, eagle and manta rays, and plenty of colourful fish right off your balcony. Overall, we had an amazing stay and would highly recommend to anyone looking to go on their honeymoon.

The best holiday ever, and we could not fault the location, service or facilities. Perfect for a 10 day break. We stayed in a beach villa because of limited mobility and it was perfect. The staff were wonderful, the food great and you can do as much, or as little as you wish. We cannot recommend highly enough.

I have no words to thank all the staff at the Mercure Kooddoo Resort in the Maldives, each person with unique kindness, always smiling and making you feel special. Alita restaurant, delicious meals, the waiters Alisha, Shiffa, Husein, Dharmika, chef Selvakumar adorables. Vista The Italian restaurant is fabulous, exquisite dishes,Jo-Ann, Ali, smith, Kunal, chef Bipula, chef Chameera wonderfull, the pool bar all amazing fellows too all very polite and professional, my sincere apologies if I don't mention them all. Thanks to all of you, you made my holiday more than perfect. We had Sunset Water Pool Villa which was spotlessly clean with the most spectaculars views you could ask for. If you have the opportunity visit it and discover with your own eyes that what we say is true. I highly recommend this hidden Eden. I couldn't find a but for this unique paradise. Lots of love.
