Hotel berhampiran Stadio "XXI Settembre - Franco Salerno", Matera

To be honest, I was skeptical about this one. I needed to book the hotel last minute (like literally the previous night), so seeing an old-looking building (probably constructed in the 1980s) was not really encouraging BUT I wanted to see Matera, so I went ahead. The hotel surprised me and by a lot. First of all - yes, the building is old BUT all inside is renovated, so all is great. The rooms are good in size (not too small at all, just right) and everything is very clean. You have a full minibar if you want something and the hotel has a working restaurant and staff at reception 24/7. The breakfast is phenomenal (like, literally anything any traveler could want) and the staff are helpful and friendly. The best thing about the hotel is the location. Basically, there is no other hotel in Matera which is closer to the Sassi and the historical center. You just need 5 minutes of slow walking (entrance to the old town square is just behind the hotel :) ) and you are at the viewpoint and the cistern. There is a vending machine for snacks and drinks just less than 10 minutes away down the street from the hotel (in the old town) and any sights and amazing places to eat are within the same 5-10 minute distance. If you want to see the historical center of Matera, this is the place to stay (you won't regret it, trust me!). The hotel is very popular with Italians visiting Matera, so keep that in mind and if you are not travelling solo, like me, better book in advance :) The prime location comes with a single downside and a few things to consider (listing them here as they are just things to keep in mind and not something that is a huge issue) - the proximity to the Sassi means you will be quite far away from the bus station (3 kilometers) and the train station (1.5 kilometers). The distance is not that much BUT it is an uphill slope 90% of the time, so if you have a lot of luggage, better take a taxi. I loved it, so there is nothing I can put my finger at as a bad things, really, I just want to continue what I started above with the things you should keep in mind when visiting. If you come by car, make sure to notify the hotel in advance, as it is within a restricted parking area and parking lots are limited. Also be aware that the hotel is busy (as I said, very popular with Italians visiting) and check-in starts at 15.00, so if you come in earlier than that, you may need to wait. The staff would do anything they can to accommodate you early, BUT if you plan on arriving before noon, better notify them, to get your room ready. The hotel also have luggage storage, just so you know. Did I say I loved it? Just to repeat I can't wait to return!

My experience at Evodia Luxury Rooms was truly exceptional. Despite our late arrival at 1:15 AM, the staff greeted us warmly and made the check-in process smooth and stress-free. They were incredibly attentive throughout our stay, offering detailed advice on how to get around quickly and suggesting fantastic dining options in the area. Upon arrival, they welcomed us with a refreshing drink, which was a thoughtful and much-appreciated gesture after a long journey. The attention to detail didn’t stop there; the breakfast each morning was delightful, with a variety of fresh and delicious options that set the perfect tone for the day. WOW! We were blown away by this place! One of the best stays we have ever had. Perfect! If you are looking to visit Italy, I implore you to visit Puglia and Basilicata! If you are looking to come to Puglia and Basilicata, I implore you to visit Matera! If you are looking to visit Matera, I implore you to stay at Locanda di San Martino! Right in the heart of the Sassi old town in Matera, the former church of San Martino. An amazing setting in a beautiful historic building set into the rocks. Unfortunately we didn't get a chance to use the Roman thermal baths, which means we will need to come back! We stayed in room 8, La Chiesa. A wonderful room, the back of which is cut into the rock, the rest finished in what looks like the same stone. Very classy and stylish room with whirlpool bath (unfortunately the jets weren't working for us) right in the room, with shower and toilet built in to the back. Very comfortable bed. Breakfast room was fabulous! Looks like it might have been the refectory, again built in to the rocks and finished with the same stone. Breakfast was continental and extensive. Delicious! Our stay was very reasonably priced too 🤗 A great location to explore Matera, but be prepared to walk up and down steep stairways. We only had one night here but will come back for more. This hotel is gorgeous and perfect in every respect - the rooms are amazing and one-of-a-kind. Everything is beautifully and thoughtfully decorated, and the staff are absolutely amazing. We have stayed at a number of luxury hotels around the world and the service at Sextantio was the best we have ever had.

We had a wonderful time at La Suite. It was a last minute switch from a luxury hotel too far out of town. We were so lucky to have found la Suite. It was a great location just off the pedestrian area, easy to walk anywhere, the Sassi entry points and the many good restaurants in Matera. Particularly handy in the recurrent rain we faced. The staff were very friendly and helpful in suggesting restaurants etc. Its a great base in Matera. Only hiccup was a bit slow breakfast on the last day when they didn't have many guests and everyhing had to be pre-ordered and a slight miscommunication on the laundry - it showed up finally. All in all a lovely place.

Struttura molto particolare, pulita e bella, ma il servizio da 5* non esiste: -Abbiamo dovuto chiamare per organizzare il parcheggio dell’auto e nessuno rispondeva, siamo stati richiamati. -arrivati all’hotel abbiamo richiesto la possibilità di fare un massaggio di coppia nella spa ( dal sito si percepiva fosse all’interno dell’hotel invece è convenzionata presso altro hotel) siamo riusciti a prenotare solamente alla sera per il giorno successivo nonostante la nostra pressione. -alle ore 19 si chiede la possibilità per bere un drink presso l’hotel e la risposta è negativa giustificata dall’inizio orario cena - colazione non da hotel a 5*, poco personale per richieste bevande calde

What a special experience it was staying here. Our room was a renovated cave room that mixed traditional local architecture with tastefully done modern convenience. The breakfast room was also a beautiful room, with access to old underground cisterns that the hotel owner preserved (very interesting to see, and a nice bonus to staying here). The food was terrific, with generous portions. But the real treat in staying here was the lovely owner who made the rounds greeting guests at breakfast. We learned a lot talking with him, and his warmth and hospitality clearly sets the tone for the entire staff, all of whom were excellent, and were exceptionally helpful (including phoning numerous restaurants to find us a table on a busy night). All in all, a lovely, peaceful, hotel that treats its guests very well.

Hotel is so pretty and the view is stunning when you open the door. Matera is one of my favourite cities in Italy. Worth to stay at this hotel when visiting Matera and then you must be impressed by the city atmosphere. Next time I will stay at least for 2 nights to explore the city. What’s more, hotel staff introduced us one nearby restaurant which was so yummy. Thanks so much for her recommendation.

We arrived by car at this new, modern hotel. We could easily park the car in one of the free parking spaces in the fenced area in front of the impressive building. At the reception we were welcomed by a lady who was top friendly and super professional at the same time. When we checked in, we immediately felt warmly welcome. We were given valuable tips for our stay in the city, and we were also helped to book a table for dinner when seats in the restaurants were scarce because of the weekend. The spacious rooms have a creative design. At the same time, they are very homely. Everything is absolutely clean. The beds are comfortable with pleasant pillows. Air conditioning and rain shower are of course also part of the great equipment. At breakfast, we were equally welcomed by brilliant staff who complemented the rich, high-quality buffet with perfect service. We will be back!

La struttura è moderna, pulita e accogliente, la colazione abbondante ma la cena discreta, si trova in una zona industriale molto distante dal centro, per le aziende alloggiare qui va più che bene, bisogna essere automuniti non ci sono servizi di trasporto. Per rilassarsi c’è una splendida piscina, il personale molto disponibile e per qualsiasi esigenza ti accontenta, un grazie particolare alla Signora della reception coi capelli rossi, pronta a soddisfare qualsiasi esigenza, viene più volte in camera a controllare se tutto va bene, se mancano gli asciugamani, chiede se il materasso è comodo e se qualcosa non va provvede immediatamente. Esperienza indimenticabile. 5 stelle per il Servizio ***** compensa il resto
