As a family we have stayed at this hotel when skiing for 14 years, a few things have changed in the 350 person hotel but it remains clean efficient and good location. However, on this occasion we had a problem with the senior staff. My daughter had an operation inside her mouth a week prior to the holiday, everything was fine up to the day of travel when she started getting severe pain from the operation, so on arrival we went immediately to the next village and the doctor who said she had an infection and should take antibiotics and pain killers but also stated she should only each soft food ie; soup, yogurt etc. On return to the hotel and finally checking in i went straight to the restaurant to speak to the restaurant manager, after explaining the situation i asked if they could possible supply us with a bowl of tomato or chicken soup for a couple of evenings? His reply was short and stern "NO SORRY" I pushed for an explanation as it didn't seem a big deal, he said "the kitchen would not like it" I asked if we could get some soup from the Spar shop and perhaps they could serve it, we offered to sit in the lounge area or anywhere away from the restaurant, his reply was to stare me in the eye and say "NO!!" then walk away. Apparently Austria has a law against bringing in your own food? In disbelief i went to the general Hotel manager who after speaking to the restaurant manager and kitchen stated "IT WAS NOT POSSIBLE" Now 9.30pm and my daughter had not eaten since the day before, my wife and i went out to the street to try and find a place for food, we only went 50 mtrs and found Manni's restaurant but it was closing up and they don't do take away, whoever, the very kind man heard our story and immediately went to the kitchen prepared tomato soup and gave us the bowl and spoon to take back to our room, see it didn't take a change of policy or rules just another human being. Now! the moral of this story is that it is not the word "POLICY" or "RULES" or "NOT POSSBLE" or "CHEF WOULD NOT ALLOW IT" But compassion, thought for another person in stress, help to another. Perhaps i was wrong to expect these people to help but it did not seem a bid deal? We ate out for a few days (at Mannis, great food) but were repeatedly asked by Hotel Strass staff if we were dining in the Hotel the next day, as if we were disrupting the kitchen if we didn't. Below are just some small things you may have read on other reviews: Oh, and on Thursday they stopped serving jugs of water, you could only get a glass, the English breakfast tea ran out as it has always done every year by Wednesday and despite many people requested it they would not refill the box. The pillow are just air, put 2 on and its just 2 lots of air. You cannot prior book a massage until the appointment book is filled to your required time (you want 4pm, you wait until their book is filled to 4pm then you can have it, relaxing area in spa prior to procedure has gone, instead of comfy relining beds and
