Hotel Romantik di Minamitsuru District

I stayed at the Kogetsu for 2 nights in May and it was an unforgettable experience. Every detail was beautiful and thoughtful. I booked rather late and was not able to book the same room, so the first night I stayed in a Standard Western Style twin w open-air bath; and the second night in a Standard Japanese Modern w open-air bath (Triple). Both were on the 3rd (of 5) floors and both had stunning views of Mt Fuji. Both incorporated both Japanese and Western style. The first room had wood floors throughout and half-shoji screen doors so you could separate the bedroom and dining areas. It also had a small walk-in closet. The outdoor onsen was quite large (could easily fit 4 adults) and the patio was wider than in the Triple room. I posted pics of the Standard Western Style Twin and will post the pics of the Triple separately. In contrast the Triple room was larger and there was a gorgeous daybed (which becomes the 3rd bed) with windows on either side overlooking Mt Fuji. The onsen was a bit smaller (could easily fit 2 adults). The bedroom was carpeted, dining area had tatami-style mats, and hallway had wood floors. There was a wardrobe rather than walk-in closet in this room. Both rooms had a wet area for washing up before the onsen, a separate powder room, and separate toilet room. Honestly, you can’t go wrong - both rooms were gorgeous. I felt lucky to be here. One thing to note is that there is a boat launch beside the ryokan, so my open-air onsen on 3rd floor was not super private (there’s a screen to pull down if you want privacy, but it obscures the view). The 4th/5th floors would have more feeling of privacy. The kaiseki meals were beautifully displayed and delicious. The 2 nights’ menus were different but followed a similar (but not identical) format: 1) Aperitif, 2) Seasonal appetizers, 3) Soup, 4) Sashimi, 5) Main course (hot), 6) Steamed fish, 7) Grilled fish, 8) Palette cleanser, 9) simmered dish, 10) rice dish, and 11) dessert. My nakai, Fumiko-san, was lovely - friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Breakfast was also included - it was half- buffet, with an elegant bento box with appetizers and tamago. It also included delicious tempura, made to order and delivered to your table. The hotel has a happy hour from 2:30-6:30 where a limited selection of tea, coffee, nonalcoholic drinks, beer and wine are free. You can enjoy them on the gorgeous terrace overlooking Mt Fuji with your feet soaking in the footpath (just not in your room). Lastly there are shuttles every morning to Kawaguchiko Station or any of the tourist sights on the way, and the hotel will send a shuttle to pick you up when you are ready to come back. The location of this ryokan could not be better - close to some great museums and on the North shore of the lake, which has the best views (and away from the touristy South shore).

Terdapat kabinet kasut di pintu masuk bilik dan bilik mandi di sebelahnya. Kawasan utama adalah tatami Katil, TV dan meja kopi kecil di atas tatami, yang sangat unik saya dan suami tidak menghidu bau yang pelik. - Persekitaran luar: Pemandangan tasik sangat bagus! Jika anda ingin melihat pemandangan gunung, anda tidak perlu menempah bilik pemandangan gunung, kerana terdapat tingkap besar di tangga untuk mengambil gambar Gunung Fuji🗻 - Perkhidmatan ini sangat baik Adik-adik Taiwan di kaunter penerimaan tetamu membantu mendaftar masuk, memperkenalkan restoran dan kemudahan rekreasi di sekeliling secara terperinci, dan juga memberikan peta yang comel dan praktikal. - Kemudahannya agak lama, tetapi tandas adalah TOTO pintar dan mempunyai semua yang diperlukan. - Terdapat kolam air panas percuma di tingkat pertama Terdapat kolam air panas awam yang berasingan untuk lelaki dan wanita. hebat!

The hotel is nestled in a quiet area, away from the hustle and bustle of the touristy area. We stayed 3 nights in a room facing the lake with a magnificent view of Fuji-san. A van provides shuttle service to and from Kawaguchiko station. The restaurant is not operational hence we either ate outside or bought food back from Lawson/7-11. Hotel staff were friendly and attentive, and there were Mandarin-speaking staff. We miss it very much even though we are now in Hoshino Amoriya, which speaks a lot about the Kumonoue Fuji!

Beautiful stay! The view itself is already worth it. Everything is very clean and love the muji aesthetics of the room. Just note that there is no room service and the noise isolation is not very good. But if you have quiet neighbours, it is still okay because the area is so peaceful. Will have to drive there though.

We are on a guided tour and were fortunate to stay at Regina. It was good in every way - great rooms, excellent checkin, hot shower and comfortable bed. WE had a traditional Japanese dinner and it was probably the most complete (and very tasty) meals we have had so far. Also the breakfast was handled smoothly and the food was hot and tasty. Be aware that this hotel is a short way out of town, but has great views of Mt Fuji.

I am really struggling with this review but decided to give a 2 star review as I took Price into consideration for this. The ryokan is highly rated on here which might be down to different experiences or different expectations. So let me get into why I was not impressed: I know Japan very well, come here multiple times a year for work and some extra time and even lived here a few years ago. I have stayed in multiple Ryokans with lovely Onsens all over the country and usually prefer the more traditional buildings and atmospheres. In the mouth Fuji Region this seemed to be one of very few that meets that criteria. However during our stay, I found that none of the usual Japanese „omotenashi“ really apply here. This ryokan had zero Japanese guests and catered exclusively to foreign tourists. The rooms are nice but certainly not great- especially considering the price. No public onsen just a shallow marble tub outside each room which heavily lacks atmosphere or Beauty. The hotel misses elements of nature and relaxation throughout- which usually is staple of a nice traditional ryokan. Then the staff- the non-Japanese staff actually tries very hard but they are clearly not aware of some of the customs at traditional places. The Japanese stuff might have been the coldest staff I have ever experienced in Japan. As I speak Japanese, I usually manage to get into a nice conversation with staff at such ryokans - at this one, that was not at all possible. They wouldn’t even speak Japanese with me. The breakfast service was fine but felt really rushed and service was cold. Dinner was an absolute nightmare - no accommodation was made for a serious allergy. Actually there was no concern whatsoever- we even identified the ingredient in a dish that the waiter said was ok… and when we pointed it out he just said „please don’t eat then“. Usually staff in Japan bends over backwards to make sure all is fine with your meal. Also- the 24,000 yen/person kaiserlich dinner was served at such a speed that we had at times three courses in front of us. Flexibility is definitely also not a word in their vocabulary - no changes can be made to anything - but that would be ok if the staff was just overall trying a bit harder. Food quality was good but again not better than at similar places for half the price. Overall the ryokan lacks a loving touch and I can only assume that it is badly managed as the staff is clearly unmotivated. You can definitely do much better in Japan and a big lesson for me is to always look out for reviews from locals as they know best what the standard for such a place should be. As someone who loves japan and has close ties to the country through work and friends, I am always happy to see positive reviews about the Japanese hospitality and service - however o encourage everyone who rated their stay highly here to try some other great ryokans in Japan to find out for yourselves how much better it can get.

Review of 富士之宿温泉旅館 大池酒店 Rating: 9/10** Location: 8.5/10 The hotel is conveniently located just a 3-5 minute drive from the train station. They offer a shuttle bus service between the hotel and the station, which is very helpful. There's also plenty of parking available for those traveling by car. Service: 9/10 The service at 大池酒店 was exceptional. The staff were friendly and always greeted us with smiles, making us feel welcomed throughout our stay. Environment: 10/10 The ambiance of the hotel is tranquil, with a strong traditional Japanese style. The peaceful surroundings contributed to a relaxing experience, perfect for unwinding. View: 10/10 The views of Mount Fuji are simply spectacular. Waking up to that breathtaking sight is something I'll never forget. Room: 8/10 Our room was decent in size and comfortably accommodated our needs. It was beautifully decorated in traditional Japanese style, adding to the overall experience. Food: 9/10 Both dinner and breakfast were served with great care, and the flavors were excellent. The meals truly showcased the local cuisine. Overall, I highly recommend 富士之宿温泉旅館 大池酒店 for anyone looking for a serene getaway with stunning views, great service, and delicious food. Konansou was one of our highlights on our recent trip to Japan. My husband and I, along w our couple friends, stayed for two nights. The staff was so warm and friendly, especially Shirai at the front desk. She was incredibly patient and helpful as we figured out our bus/train tickets. They have a shuttle service to and from Kawaguchiko station, which made getting around in the rain and with bags really easy. (Tip: there is a pay phone at the station if you need to call them when you get in— there are instructions and the numbers of local hotels posted) The food was amazing! Ikeda was our server for our in room dinners, and he was kind and knowledgeable in all the different dishes and how to eat them. I was blown away by the attention to detail and variety of food. It was beautiful. It was our anniversary and we received a special gift— thank you!! Breakfast was a buffet and had a huge selection! It can get busy but there is a lot of seating. Our room was huge and had a beautiful view of the lake and its own private onsen. We enjoyed the quiet and location, which was easy to walk to. The public onsen had so many amenities and was spacious too— not sure if I was lucky, but I was the only one there! We also got to do karaoke, play table tennis, and did our laundry. There was also a rooftop foot spa, where got views of Mt Fuji! Everything you need is here!

Only managed to book 1 out of 2 nights of our stay in the Superior Room and had to book the 2nd night via Japanican (standard room). Both rooms were amazing in terms of size. Superior room’s amenities and furnishings, bathtub etc are more luxurious in comparison but Standard Room is really good enough when you enter to a full view of Mt Fuji at the windows. My view fm the Standard Room was much better compared to the Superior though. Only con at the Standard Room is probably the inability to go out to a balcony to take photos and had to deal with reflections. Hospitality at the front desk was largely good, except a harsh-sounding man whom attended to our bus pickup call request and another night-duty man who can’t speak English and only repeatedly uttered “sorry” and “nonono” when I called to ask for a pillow they missed out. Special mention and thanks to 2 ladies whom attended to us: 1. “AHN” or “ANH” who helped us with check-in to the room, and continued to serve us with helpful suggestions and the sincerest greetings whenever we bump into her in the ryokan. 2. We didn’t get her name. The lady who served us for dinners (16 & 17 Dec) and breakfast (17 Dec) at Room 桃の二. Really patient and tried her best to communicate with us in English for all our requests and questions about the food. For non-adventurous-foodies like us, the provided breakfasts and dinners are a great experience and an eye-opener, but also wasteful on the other hand as we ended up with much things we don’t eat (even after I’ve put in a string of dietary requests prior to check-in). Perhaps having a room-only option for booking would be good.

The hotel is a once a lifetime experience. The hotel is located on top of a steep hill next to the tourist site Ropeway. If you miss the shuttle bus and arrive at night, the walk up the hill can be physically demanding especially during winter with tree barks scattered and no lighting. But after we survive the physical journey, the hotel is really a must visit gem. The view from the room is amazing. Every room faces the lake. The room is traditional Japanese room with nice tatami mats and buckwheat quality pillow. The highlight has to be the breakfast and the onsen. The breakfast and dinner need to be reserved in advance (must include breakfast when you book the room). Food is fresh and chef quality. The onsen faces the lake so is really special experience. You can also visit the ropeway in the morning. Service is also excellent. The team is responsive and also helped us order dinner as there are no food nearby. Overall this is a must visit hotel for anyone who wants authentic Japanese experience and next to the lake. The breakfast and onsen is also a must when you are there.
