Radisson Montevideo is one of the fine Classic hotels of the world. The interior is all beautiful marble and mahogany wood. Just fantastic.it setting is on one of Montevideo’s many picturesque plazas. And in the heart of Montevideo, not some outlying area. I have stayed there many times and always look forward to returning. If you go, be certain to have breakfast in the “Acadia” dining room at the top of the hotel. It will give you a view of all of the surrounding area though it’s many expansive glass windows. And plan to have a leisurely breakfast while you drink in all the atmosphere that room provides. You can create some memories in that room. Montevideo has that old world feel that the United Stats lacks, charming. C.H.S.

Nothing to improve here. Beautiful, historic property. Our room was lovely, the beds super comfortable. Very quiet. Terrific neighborhood behind the hotel with lots of restaurants and boutiques. Breakfast (not included) was very good and the best poached eggs I’ve ever had. Loved it.

I came to this hotel after switching from of an extremely historic boutique hotel (aka old and smelled of dust) that my travel agent put me in. This hotel had everything you would expect from a boutique hotel. The hotel has a nice vibe, friendly staff, in a trendy, safe neighborhood, rooms done mid-century modern and with many modern and thoughtful amenities. They have those fancy toto bidets, outlets everywhere, good water pressure and beautiful views of the beach from your bed. The only thing missing was being able to open and close the curtains from the push of a button. The breakfast is plentiful with a good selection of breads, fruits and yogurts and a few hot dishes. They have many restaurants within walking distance or a short taxi ride away.

We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Montevideo but there are improvements needed. We travel to Uruguay from the US every 1- 2 years to visit my husband's family and have stayed many places. This hotel is beautiful but the rooms were not as comfortable as expected. We wouldn’t stay here again unless improvements were made because comfort is very important when traveling such a long way and staying up to 2 weeks. Pros: The hotel decor is visually beautiful. The staff are friendly, courteous and helpful. It was nice that some of the staff spoke English. My husband is a native Spanish speaker and it was great that he didn't have to translate the restaurant menu for me. The morning breakfast was very good and the staff there great. The views from the 10th floor hotel bar and DJ were fantastic. Cons: Not worth the price of the upgrade, and not what you would expect for a hotel with hotel with 4+ rating. We asked if an upgrade was an available at check in because we were staying for 11 nights. We were offered a Suite room that was bigger in size and has a small kitchenette. The size of the room was better for us for a long stay but unfortunately the bed was the worst bed we have ever slept in. It was way too soft, no support and the pillows were too soft. I realize of course this is also about preference but we have stayed at many hotels and have never experienced such a horrible bed. We traveled a long way and a good nights rest is always important. The bathroom- I prefer a long sink or his/her countertop when we travel so that we can arrange our skin care, makeup, beauty products etc. This sink was tiny so I had no place to put my toiletries when getting ready. The lighting is too dark in the rooms even with the curtains fully opened. When I was getting ready, I could barely see anything. A dimmer light switch would be much better. It would also be nice if Restaurant Polo Bamba had a rotating menu for dinner options.

Excelente todo, la ubicación, las habitaciones, el desayuno y sobretodo el trato del personal. Sumamente recomendable! Sin duda para repetir. Estuvimos en una habitación de 4 y fue super cómodo todo , la cocina americana un plus.

Wow. One of the most ridiculous experiences in over 35 countries and 150 hotel stays in my life. Arrived at the hotel which looks dated from the outside but I was confident, based on the reviews, that the rooms would be decent as I expected. Slow check in process but staff fairly friendly. We got to the room which, no exaggeration, was one of the most dated, smoky, disgusting rooms I’ve been given. Rather than complaining at the end of the stay, I returned to reception and said that the room was horrible and smelt terribly of smoke. I asked if we could be moved to a nicer, newer room. This wasn’t well received but Leonardo (hotel receptionist) said that he would arrange for us to move to a room on the eighth floor. We fetched our things from the first room and waited at reception. After Leonardo had ignored us for a few minutes, I asked again if we were being moved to a better room. To clarify, by better, I was asking simply for a more modern room that did not smell of smoke and that reflected the photos of the hotel online. At this point, he lost his temper and said that we needed to go and sit and wait. I explained to him that we had a reservation later in the evening and that we needed to check into our new room quickly. He behaved aggressively and with a short temper - telling me that I should basically be grateful that he was moving our room! I explained that, as a customer, we pay for a room of a good standard for the price and that he was not doing us a favour! He then accused me of ‘harassing him’ about having a better room! There was no element of ‘harassment’ and only Leonardo speaking in a rude and totally unprofessional way. I could not believe what was happening! At this point, I asked to cancel the room as we were going to stay elsewhere. I asked Leonardo for confirmation that the cancellation would be free and he told me ‘he did not have time to write this confirmation’. I explained that it would take him less than a minute and that we could only leave the hotel if we were sure we would not be charged. He begrudgingly provided Brie after demonstrating a further bad attitude. I am sure that the hotel will reply to this review with a different version of events but, all I can say is, this hotel is seriously dated, in a bad condition, smoky in the room we were given and the attitude of Leonardo was one of the worst and most bizarre I have ever come across. I am also making a formal complaint to the NH Hotel group, whom I expected better of.

Nos quedamos sólo una noche y nos encontramos con un hotel moderno y cómodo, en una muy buena ubicación para conocer la zona de Buceo. La habitación muy cómoda, el desayuno buffet completo, variado y rico. La atención del personal muy buena también. Cerca del hotel se encuentra el Montevideo Shopping Center y en la zona hay varios restaurantes para comer. Aunque por la zona del hotel no se vio mucho movimiento, se sintió seguro. Volvería.

Wonderful small hotel in the heart of the Old City with extremely helpful and friendly front desk staff. We had paid for an early check in and when we arrived the room they gave us had not, in fact, been cleaned. They then immediately upgraded us to a larger room and gave us tickets to the Carnival competition at the Summer Theatre (the tickets are not expensive, but it was a very nice gesture). Since we'd just spent 24 hrs traveling, we appreciated being able get into a room early. Breakfast with fresh squeezed orange juice and pastries etc. was fine and filling. We enjoyed the hotel's location across the street from the Port Market and an easy walk to many of the attractions in the Old City. The nicest artisan craft shop we saw in the city is only a block away. The bed was a real king-sized bed and the AC worked very well. We would definitely recommend for a few days in Montevideo.

I hope that this hotel understands that needs a major update/renovation Our suites were fine in the sixteen floor with great views My room had the furniture jaded with stains Only one phone out of two that usually have I spent the whole stay with the phone not working (the policy we will make it right did not happen) I had to use my personal phone to contact my partner My TV had the volume super low Had to call two times and was finally fixed Both remote controls with wasted batteries We had breakfast included but we gave up after the first day The staff looks like tired upset to be there The quality of pastries as croissants and breads are super lame No spoons for your coffee The excused using the COVID but saw coffee spoons in room service lame cold cuts cold eggs and uncooked bacon I asked the girl in the stand to cook it well and it was returned in the same way raw pork us unhealthy (policy to make it right did not exist) The front desk staff is great but the seating area is a shame with old and stained seats This is a great property but a renovation is needed and the restaurant needs new staff and Chef
