First of all the majority of staff are friendly and helpful, one or two restaurant staff avoid talking or even smiling to customers. In fact my husband was bumped into by a young, heavy built member of staff while carrying two coffees but no apology was offered and they kept walking. We have visited this hotel a few times over the past few years and feel it has gone downhill. It is looking a bit tired in some areas, rooms especially need a freshen up. The food is not good, breakfast is manageable but lunch and dinner are dire. We waited to see if they would ever serve beef of any sort but no, it was mainly fish, not very nice fish I might add and pork was served 2 or 3 times but was a weird, jelly like consistency sometimes which made it inedible. Food was very boring, bland and repetitive, desserts didn't vary much, if at all, thank goodness for the fresh fruit. We decided to eat out a few times because we were desperate for some tasty food. Cleaning of the rooms was passable, the balcony was never touched in the week we were there apart from once where the table and chairs were moved but not cleaned at all. The hotel is in a prime location which is really good but is definitely not 4 stars. Marcus on the reception was wonderful, helpful and very welcoming as was the girl at the sauna from Portugal, unfortunately we didn't get her name.
