Herald Square Hotel

Never got my deposit back.... thought it would take a few days before being deposited into my account. Flew back home to Ireland, emailed them twice in the past 3 days and they seem to be ignoring me. Deposit still not received. Stayed one night, room was literally left as it was when I got first stepped foot in it. Room was quite good and spacious, no issue at all with the room, thought it was a great stay. Then they started ignoring me when I had to start asking for my deposit back.

Terrible Experience - Avoid This Hotel! Our stay at this hotel was an absolute disaster. We were given a room with a sofa bed, but the bed was completely broken and unusable. To make matters worse, the sofa bed was provided without any sheets, blankets, or pillows. When we complained to the reception, they simply handed us the bedding and told us to set it up ourselves—an absolute disgrace for any hotel. As a result, one of us had to sleep on the mattress on the floor, which was even worse. The mattress had protruding metal wires that ended up cutting the person who slept on it. To top it all off, when we complained to the reception staff, they provided us with the manager’s email to address our concerns. However, the manager was completely unresponsive and unavailable to assist us. This was one of the worst hotel experiences we’ve ever had. I strongly recommend avoiding this place if you value your comfort and safety.

We stayed for 5 nights and we loved the hotel. The room was clean, the staff were friendly and it has a great location, near Empire State Building and Herald Square. It’s near a subway stop and Times Square is an 20 minute walk away. Our room on the 16th floor had great views. They have a luggage storage area which we used after we checked out before we went to the airport.

I understand that this hotel is very cheap and offers an amazing location in the heart of Midtown, but there were some serious issues during my stay. We booked a room for three adults, but when we arrived, the room wasn’t ready—no blankets, no pillows, no linen at all. The third bed was a terrible sofa bed, the kind you might find in a student apartment. It was a nightmare for the third person, and we had to take turns sleeping there. By the end of the stay, one of us was experiencing back pain. The cleanliness of the room was also disappointing. When we entered, we found a half-eaten apple from previous guests under the bed. Additionally, the quality of room service varied greatly depending on which employee was cleaning. Some days, the room wasn’t serviced at all. On the last day, my flight was 12 hours after checkout. I left my luggage at the hotel and went for a walk around Manhattan. When I returned at 6 PM to pick up my luggage, I politely asked to use the restroom. The receptionist informed me that there was no restroom available, which from a human perspective, was completely unacceptable. If you're on a tight budget, you can stay here because there are beds and you can sleep. However, keep your expectations very low, or you’ll be disappointed.

We have just arrived at the hotel after a flight from Brussels with a 2-year-old baby. I had talked to the hotel on booking and asked three times if it was possible to have a cot because if not I took mine. They reply to me “yes no worries we added this information to my reservation”. We arrive and no cot before 10pm!!! The girl at the reception dares to tell me that it's "my business" when I tell her that it's shameful that my 2-year-old son is sleeping, because "I had no way to take one"!!!! No towels in the bathrooms. A triple room with no sheet for one of the beds!!! This hotel is absolutely not worth the price we paid!

Great location! Close to the Empire State Building. Walking distance to Times Square, Central Park and other great places, but also easy access to very nice neighborhoods like Chelsea, Greenwich Village and more... Herald Square across the street from the hotel, which gives you access to many subway lines. The hotel gives you access to a nice little terrace a couple stories up, but there is also a nice rooftop bar in the same building, with a great view of the ESB. Staff was nice and helpful. Room was clean and convenient. Very good hotel, in the heart of the city at a great price! Would definitely book again!
