Premier Inn Isle Of Wight (Newport)

We were welcomed by a very friendly and chatty receptionist. Very helpful and spoke with all 3 of us including our 7 year old daughter. Customer service is so important to us and each member of staff we encountered provided us with amazing customer service. We had an issue with breakfast, but I have contacted Beefeater separately regarding that. When we returned to the hotel, the morning receptionist was again super friendly and helpful. Although she couldn’t help with the issues, she did give us advice and sympathised with the issues we had experienced. The hotel is in a great location for us, free parking is a massive bonus, and next time we will remember to book a room overlooking the river! We have family on the Island so we will definitely be returning to this hotel. Thank you to all the staff for making our stay a great one!

Hotel is exactly what one has come to expect from the Premier Inn Chain. Adequate clean rooms, Comfy Beds and Pillows, the staff were helpful, the only downside was limited parking facilities, but we managed to find a space not to far away on the quay. The downside is the Thief Beater Inn next door. Anyone who uses Premier Inn regularly knows there's usually a Beefeater or Brewers Fayre attached for dining and breakfast. These are usually good value and efficiently run, however our experience in Newport was appalling. We were on the island for a family gathering and out on the Saturday Night, when checking in the Hotel staff advised us to book a slot for breakfast the next morning because it was gouing to be busy, so we did so. We rocked up for Brekkers 5 minutes before time, and stood at the desk waiting to be seated for 20 minutes. We tried to attract the attention of staff without success, and after 20 minutes, as another family was leaving, they said they'd been waiting an age also and that there weren't enough staff on to cope. At that point we decided to call it a day and find somewhere else for breakfast.... We were booked to stay at the same hotel next weekend for another family gathering... we're cancelling the booking as we really dont want to go through the same experience again.

The staff we met were pleasant and helpful and with outside temperatures close to zero the lack of air conditioning was not a problem in our room. This is the only hotel we've stayed at where you need to request cleaning day by day but during our short stay we didn't bother. The reason was that there was no safe in the room nor were there any cupboard fronts or drawers. In consequence everything we had was in the open, on the desk or in open cupboards. For two, there was only one chair so we sat up on the bed to watch tv. There were tea and coffee making facilities in the room but no decaf tea or decaf coffee although decaf coffee and semi skimmed milk individual pots were available to collect from reception. There was no loo brush in the bathroom. Other Premier Inns that we've stayed at had larger beds. The 4G signal in the hotel was weak but there was free WiFi which generally sufficed. For extra cost we could have had stronger WiFi but didn't need it. The hotel does have a small car park which during the evenings was full as it also serves the adjacent Beefeater. If you arrive back during the evening you may need to find somewhere else to park. We stayed at this hotel because of its easy walk into town. The best thing about the room was the view out over the river.
