Great hotel with self catering facilities. Beautiful rooms with nice view. Staff were amazing. They recommended we pre order our dinner which we did. The meal was very nice. Breakfast was also very good. Our regret is we only had one night as it was a stop over to Namaqualand. We will definitely come back.

The property is right by the water and offers magnificent sunsets. The breakfast on offer had a varied selection to choose from and the view from the dining room and patio is breathtaking. It was fully booked during our stay and yet we didn't see or hear other guests except at breakfast, which was a positive for me. The reason I didn't give a higher score is that the reception we received was less than satisfactory and we were given a room with two double beds instead of one king/queen sized bed that we booked.

River Manor Lodge is a well-positioned lodge right on the Orange River in Upington. The rooms are modern and well appointed and most important to me the bathroom was well laid out with a perfectly working shower. The staff were exceptionally friendly with us being welcomed on a Sunday afternoon by Morne, who proceeded to serve us with drinks and coffee on the lawns of the lodge right on the river. A sumptuous breakfast was served to us in the morning We have stopped there numerous times previously on our way to the Kgalagadi or to the flowers in Namaqualand. We will be back!

We stayed at the manor for one night on the back from the Kgalagadi. Everything from the room to the surrounds, were beautiful. The staff were friendly and helpful. We had a excellent breakfast in a beautiful dining room which had a view of the Orange River. The decor in every room is beautiful. It was like staying in a 5 star resort, We were so sad we did not have time to enjoy this haven. Next time, we will be sure to stay two nights and explore Upington.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel itself is not a 5 star as advertised. The rooms cleaning agents were left in the room when we entered. We found a dusty dirty sock under the bed. There was only one small soap in the room. Our room had shampoo. The other room where my parents stayed did not have any and they were told they dont have shampoo in the rooms. The bedding was not the warmest for a cold winters night. The breakfast was good except the still frozen croissants. The fruit juice was not 100% fruit but rather a fruit concentrate. There was no water at the buffet (hot or cold) and had to request. The omelette was disappointing as the cheese did not even melt. I would rather rate the hotel a 3 and definitely not a 5.

On my return from the Kalahari Transfrontier Park, I stayed overnight in Upington. The Manor is right on the beautiful Orange River, beautiful peaceful views, lots of bird life, and a great stay, excellent rooms and a fantastic breakfast. I could not ask for more, with incredibly helpful and friendly staff. This will be my only choice whenever I am up there in Upington. The manor is off the road and very secure.
