This hotel is perfectly situated at the end of the famous Otaru stretch of shops parallel to the Canal. It also has parking that’s reasonable priced and a public bath on the ground floor. Rooms were ideal for a short stay and we found it most suitable for us. Wonderful staff too! Thank you

This is a great hotel smack bang in the centre of Otaru, close to everything you need. The service was prompt and the hotel room nicely designed. The lights were lovely. Our favourite part was the outdoor onsen on the roof top which could get quite popular even at low season. Don't know how it would work in high season. Great value for money. Room had a good view too!

We absolutely loved this ryokan experience! Stayed for 2d1n as a couple and absolutely loved the place! We booked the room with the private onsen and it was a lovely small space on the 2nd floor we could enjoy privately. The onsen is not too big, maybe 1.5 x 1.5 meters, but it was spacious for the two of us. We also found out that you can book a 45 minute slot for a separate private onsen for about ¥2200, which we may have done instead, had we known about it before booking. The japanese-style room was comfortable and had the usual amenities provided, alongside other nice additions like lotions and creams. The staff helped us to set up our futon (japanese-style bed) after dinner, and it was overall a very comfortable experience. The staff are super friendly and service was incredible. We got the dinner and breakfast package and the food was excellent. We had to choose both the dinner slot in advance, and it is first-come-first-serve. Dinner was served to us in the room over 1.5h and was a really amazing 12-course meal with instructions on the eating order. Breakfast was more standard, but still nice, we took it in the dining hall. The lounge is open till 10pm and we could take drinks and refreshment freely, including some small snacks and soft drinks. But they stop serving beer at 9pm. The onsens also have mini-fridges with free popsicles. There is also an outside area you can access from 3pm - 9pm that serves hot coffee and wine, with free marshmallows you can roast on the outside firepit. It was really nice. The garden is by far the nicest part of the hotel, it is really big and well decorated, with many nice places for photos and to enjoy a hot drink from the lounge. The space is quite large and might take about 20 minutes to fully explore. The only downside I can think of is that the location is quite hard to access. We chose to get to and from the ryokan by taxi, but there is also a shuttle bus service, from what I understand. When we arrived, the reception told us that there would be a shuttle bus leaving at 10:45 to Otaruchikko station. We still ended up requesting a taxi from the front desk though, which they were happy to help us book (I couldn't get any taxis by cab in the location). Overall a really amazing stay that we would absolutely recommend. The price tag might seem high for a ”3 star” hotel, but the ranking is deceptive, we absolutely had a 5 star experience. Served by a Sri Lankan hotel staff named Dilruk. Our check in was managed professionally by him. Had a pleasant check in procedure. However, the room wasn't cleaned properly when we checked in, hair was found left beside the bathtub. Concern was raised to a trainee hotel staff on the checkout date, he just said sorry that's it. I think there will be a better way in extending apologies on this matter.

That’s very convenient place and easy access to many places .. either for foods or viewing .. just perfect locations and friendly staffs ❤️

We love this hotel, overall everything was so good. Everything is digital and chic. I believe Hoshino Resorts is really setting up a good standard. The only thing I would complain is the car park, limited space right outside of the hotel only. There is a car park next door but it was very icy and during our stay so we had a rough time moving the luggage to the hotel. It would have been nice, if we know this in advance.

Fantastic location overlooking the canals in Otaru. Best thing about the hotel was having a separate bathroom and a separate toilet… Especially useful when travelling with families! Gorgeous stained glass window and you can see the amazing sunset from the top floor as well  Reception was large and the front desk folk were very friendly and helpful. Overall would highly recommend this hotel  

Hotel facilities were dated but mostly well-maintained. After spending 2 nights in Sapporo's small hotel room, it was good to have more space to spread out. Outdoor hot spring was fantastic and the onsen is open till late night - giving guests enough time to enjoy it even after a full day out. If you've a rental car, the location poses no problem. There is a large, 24-hour market nearby and it's only a quick 15-min drive to Otaru. The staff were kind and provided ready assistance whenever we needed it. Only issue I had was noise from the room above us. For some reason, the guests were running around in the room and it was very noisy. Overall, it's a quaint, old-fashioned hotel with good ambience.

We had the suite on the Salon level. Spacious room with well-updated modern interior. Huge TV with Netflix and other streaming services, great to chill and relax in on non-skiing days. Very helpful front desk, helped us reserve taxis coming back from Kiroro (returning bus tickets were sold out). Several restaurant options (western and Japanese), but be sure to make reservations a day ahead.

오타루 칫코 역에서 전화하면 5분 안에 데리러 와줍니다. 직원들 대부분이 영어가 불가능합니다. 대신 한국어가 조금 가능한 직원이 한명 있었습니다. 흡연가능 객실임에도 불구하고 전혀 냄새가 나지 않았습니다. 전체적인 객실이 상당히 넓었고 객실과 노천탕 모두 바다를 보며 온천을 즐길 수 있는 것이 좋았습니다. 퇴실 시 택시는 원하는 장소가 아닌 오타루 칫코 역까지만 데려다주며 가격은 무료입니다.
