Nothing ‘Grand’ about it! Guest safety of little interest, and basic service standards are non-existent. Had trouble with my access card at night, went to reception, to find it was closed (9.30pm). Sign on door gave a Brisbane number to call, instead of a local contact number of an on-site/local person. Brisbane Grand Chancellor staff advised that they had received Palm Cove guest list for the day, so they could’ve verify me or my room details and couldn’t help me. Had to remind the staff on the phone that I was on my own, at night, with no access to my room, and my mobile phone was about to lose power. Brisbane staff told me that they would try to contact the on-site manager. I was told to wait for this person outside the reception area. About 10 mins in to this call, again stating that my phone was losing power, the Brisbane staff told me that they couldn’t do much else, and when I told the Brisbane staff member that he had a duty of care to ensure that I was safe and that a hotel representative on-site needed to be confirmed to help me, the Brisbane staff member hung up on me. I was on my own, waiting in the dark, in the hope that someone from the hotel would show up. The on-site manager showed up and proceeded to lecture me that they had been at my hotel room door waiting for me and that I should have been there to meet them. I explained that the after hours contact for the hotel was a Brisbane number not a local number or even the on-site duty manager’s mobile. The on-site duty manager then became defensive when I told them that they needed to take immediate corrective action on their after hours procedures and to train their contact staff better on how to manage such situations, particularly where a guest is on their own, a night, with no access to their room. The interaction ended with the on-site manager handing me new access keys outside of the reception area with no offer to come with me to check that I could access my room. There was no follow-up the next day from the on-site manager to check that I was ok. Basic maintenance around the property was lacking. Even with reduced staffing due to the impact of Covid-19, cleaning of hotel rooms, public area furniture and public areas is a basic requirement. Rooms were not serviced consistently - even though guests have to book their service request (and type of service) by 9pm the night before. Pool furniture was covered in food debris and the main restaurant and bar areas were not open for service, except for a limited breakfast service. There was a lobby snack bar, open during reception hours but the offer was limited with no healthy food options. The hotel should be using its booking system to roster staff to accommodate guest numbers to even a basic level. The room rate certainly reflects a full service offer, rather then being reduced to align to the reduced level of service on offer from the hotel. The hotel wifi was also out of action for nearly 3 full days.
Alamanda Palm Cove by Lancemore

We just spent a fantastic week at the Alamanda. Before we arrived they arranged transport for us from (and to) the Cairns airport through Exemplar, an excellent shuttle service. A small discount is applied to the transport charge when the Alamanda makes the booking. From arrival and check in until we reluctantly said goodbye, every staff member including Kiley the manager were helpful and friendly. The kitchen/living area of our oceanfront one bedroom suite (#35) was on the top floor with our spacious en suite bedroom, and a second bathroom with shower, on the floor below. The furnishings are modern, there is Miele equipment in the kitchen and laundry, and the entire place was immaculately clean. The wonderful view from our big balcony took in the beach, palm trees, and one of the three swimming pools. The main pool was being renovated but unlike other reviewers, we never heard any construction noise from it. There was an occasional sound or two from what was probably routine maintenance or minor construction, but it was never a nuisance. The Alamanda is at the end of the main street that runs along the beach and is situated such that the street turns before it passes in front of the side of the building where our suite was located. As far as we could tell this was the only accommodation in Palm Cove that didn’t have the street between it and the beach, so no traffic noise. It is a short walk to the many restaurants, bars, and shops on the main street (DO NOT miss the restaurant Vivo - see separate review). Restaurant La Mesa at the Mantra is very good and gives a discount to Accor members, but only if you have your Accor card with you. There is a small well-stocked grocery store very near Alamanda, and a short distance past the store is the Palm Cove Tavern and bottle shop. Gabi in the office were eager to help us sort out an excursion to Kuranda via the historic train from Freshwater, and back down the mountain via cable car. One tour was based from Cairns which would have required us to pay separately for transport to the train station and back from the cable car station. Upon looking at the many brochures in the office we found a brochure for Brett’s one-day Kuranda tour that originates in Port Douglas with a pick up in Palm Cove, eliminating the need to pay for separate transport. It pays to look closely at the brochures. Gabi booked our tour with Brett’s excellent tour (see separate review) and the charge was put on our room. We have told friends and family about our wonderful stay here and some of them are already planning their visits. We will definitely be back!
Sarayi Boutique Hotel

Sarayi Hotel was in a great spot with a cafe at the front of the building that served a great breakfast. There was parking available at the rear of the building which was very convenient. Restaurants and cafes were all nearby , you just had to choose left or right. We were in a motel style room on the ground floor for 4 nights , the bed was good and there was a small courtyard area. laundry facilities available. only negative was the foyer lights are on all night

ケアンズ市街からパームコーブまではタクシーで70ドルくらいでした。スーツケース4つと大人3人普通にタクシーで移動可能です。が、30分ほどかかるので、3泊の滞在をよりスムーズにするためにはレンタカーが良いかもしれません。 マントラアンフォラは最高でした。ビーチも目の前でプールもとても過ごしやすいプールでした。 パームコーブにはリカーショップはありますが、大きなスーパーがないため、食材などは別の場所で購入することをお勧めします。お部屋にもよると思いますが、3階でしたが階段です。日当たりがとても良い部屋ではなかったので、湿気に発生する小さな虫はいましたが、大きな問題ではありませんでした。それよりも広いバスタブは気持ちよく、部屋も広く快適でしたが、エキストラベッドはエアベッドで、日に日にしぼんでいきました笑。ソファが広かったので、それも特に問題ではありませんでした。 ロケーションは文句なしです。 9月の滞在でしたが、夏のつもりで行きましたが、汗をかくことのない涼しい気候でした。

Our first room was terrible, so terrible. The curtains were mouldy and stained and I could barely bear to touch them. The carpet was dirty and damp, the whole place smelt very damp and bad. Our bathroom sink wouldn't drain. I lasted 2 nights (which I shouldn't have!) and after reading lots of bad reviews I went to reception to tell them I just couldn't do it. It was unhealthy and I felt sick. The girls at the desk were very helpful and immediately swapped us to another apartment that was lovely, spotlessly clean and fresh and beautiful. Just like you would expect! told them that the first apartment should never have been rented out in that state! I don't understand why they would put people in there. The pool area is beautiful, and I think most of the rooms probably are too, but they need to get the owners of the apartments to renovate if they are not up to scratch. Our last 3 nights were great, so I am putting average. If we had been in there the whole time it would have been perfect.
Pullman Palm Cove Sea Temple Resort and Spa

The room is great! Quite spacious with enough space for a family of four. There is a barbecue grill and kitchen as well as dishes and cooking utensils. Very good. But the service and hospitality is poor. The worst experience I’ve ever made! There is one restaurant that is always fully booked, but still has tables and chairs available. You have to please them to make up a table for you, very uncomfortable for a five star hotel! Then they have a lagoon bar that offers foods and drinks. First day 29. Dec there was a wedding, so the lagoon bar was closed for hotel guests. Food can be ordered to room, because restaurant is fully booked. We asked if there is a celebration for New Year’s Eve, but concierge told us it was cancelled because no people were interested in. On 31. Dec they closed lagoon bar again for hotel guest because suddenly they had a New Year’s Eve party, but not for us. On January 1st there was no room service…. Check out was the same unfriendly treatment as during check-in… If you don’t mind to spent your holidays like a tenant it’s a great place. As a hotel guest better try another one. We will not come back here!
